I was very excited to see that Ms Carriger extended the Parosol Protectorate universe! This one follows Prudence as she's now grown and having her own adventure. I tried to explain the plot to my husband only to realize it doesn't sum up well, it's pretty complicated, but easy enough to follow in the moment.

Gotta say, I would have been a terrible English Victorian Lady. So many damn rules about everything.

Even with the Staycation Work on the House Project, I still managed to keep up with my Challenges and read a few others. 📚

3/5⭐ A step up from the Finishing School series but a step down from the Parasol Protectorate series. Carriger's fun, quirky, often absurd narration carries the reader through when thin, almost nonexistent plot doesn't. Unfortunately, squeezing monolithically presented Indian culture and myth into this steampunk alternate history with a totally unnuanced, British-centric imperialist focus made me wince throughout.

Gail Carriger never disappoints. Fun and whimsical. These are the things you should read when life is getting in the way and you need to escape for awhile. Now I need a cup of tea.

I have an election hangover today. My husband was told to prepare for massive firings at the university where he works. The news is grim and I don‘t want to think about it anymore. So I‘m going to read something that‘s guaranteed to be fun.

A bit of a rough start, and not as good as the original (yet), I missed Alexia... but this group of oddball adventurers is growing on me, and I loved the way they expanded the supernatural universe.

Finally started this spin-off series for the #great2019ParasolVerseReadalong @jpmcwisemorgan

This book was very cute. It‘s in the same world as the Etiquette and Espionage series and there‘s a lot of connections to that series if you enjoyed it. There are similar themes and even references those characters but it focuses more on the supernatural themes than the espionage themes. A little white saviory at times but not the worst offender. I‘m going to keep making my way through Carriger‘s series

Prudence is the first book in the Custard Protcol series and it was a fun read but I still highly recommend starting with Carriger's book, Soulless, from her Parasol Protectorate series. It is a shining example of the author's brand of silliness 'n twee! Pick up Prudence if you've already read the Parasol series and are looking to explore more of this world; the Custard Protocol takes place many years after the Parasol Protectorate books.

Wee dram and Prudence. Fun to see the younger generation of the Parasol Protectorate Series. Love the characters. Rue and Prim have a great friendship. Percy, the mad professor with his cat Footnote is hilarious. Quesnel Lefoux is so much like his mother Genevieve. Charming and makes everything a double entedre. Plus you have an airship painted to look like a Ladybug. 🐒🎩🐞

I‘ve been dragging my feet, and slowly wandering the aisle of one of my favourite bookstores, but I finally passed 30k steps. I‘m going to start heading home now, and with my regular evening walk I should make it to my goal of 45,000 steps. What a day it‘s been! I was in the neighbourhood, so I stopped in for a quick visit and coffee with my cousin. Her little Nova is such a doll, and I was thrilled to get in some cuddling. 💖

The audiobook is back on, and I‘m out and about again. Currently at 14k steps out of the 45k goal. Next stop is the thrift store. I have my backpack, so I‘m gonna check the books 😍😅 #bookfitnesschallenge #snowbootchallenge @wanderinglynn

Just over 10,000 steps in, and 35% of my phone battery life is already gone. I was going to charge my phone at McDonald‘s while I sip on this delicious smoothie, only to find out that the charger I grabbed is not working. So, now I‘m making a quick stop in at Walmart.

The #ParasolProtectorate read along has made it to the home stretch because it‘s now starting the #CustardProtocol series, of which Reticence will be the last book - and the last book in the universe. There are going to be more novellas, I think, but Carriger has another series with shifters and a new scifi-ish book so it‘ll be interesting to see what happens next.

Such a fun book, but was there any doubt with Gail Carriger writing it? I loved the expansion of the world and the incorporation of other myths.

A fun read with many elements: adventure, mystery, romance, comedy, wit. A little weird to see familiar characters from a different point of view (Aunt Ivy), but definitely interesting.

Finished my reread of this yesterday. Now I‘m ready to plunge into book two. The audiobooks are delightful.

I rarely order books from Amazon. I made an exception because I needed to make free shipping. It took over a week for Prudence to come in even with Prime. And the red riding hood is very short. I figured it would be longer since it has 4 volumes. I ordered vol 2 to try. We shall see if it‘s worth price.

I found this one quite entertaining. While not quite as great as the Parasol Protectorate books, it was nice to see what the second generation was up to and revisit some of the characters from the previous series. #89of2018

🎩Pure escapist reading into the realm of absurdity, dry wit, fantasy, and adventure. I‘ve been a fan of Carriger‘s books for awhile. I‘ve only just started this series of hers. I always find myself craving a pot of good tea and something sweet though while reading her books!

This was a lot of fun. I enjoyed seeing the glimpses of old generation and also all the adventures the new characters had! Once again Carriger creates a fun new paranormal dynamic that has a lot of historical references. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was the first book I had ever read by Gail Carriger and I enjoyed it. Steampunk high society London meets Charlaine Harris meets Deanna Raybourne. A strong female lead with vampires, wereanimals, and paranormal aspects. A little mystery, a little action, a little science, a little romance, there is something here for everyone. I will be picking up the 2nd book in the trilogy and reading Gail's other works. Four out of 5 stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Trying this one again at the beginning. I was a few pages in a year ago when my attention span left me completely and I had to stop reading novels altogether. I had no idea I would still be dealing with concussion symptoms 3 years out from injury but here I am. #TBI #MentalHealth

I actually finished this yesterday, so this was the last book of 2017 for me. It was a good, fun read for the holidays.

Finally getting back into reading. Since Thanksgiving I‘ve been under the weather and haven‘t been reading much. This is cheering me up though!

Really enjoying this so far. I like seeing the new generation take over the reins while still getting glimpses of the first generation we followed. ❤️

I set this one aside to read other things and now I‘m determined to finish it this week. No more distractions. The problem is, I got to a sad bit. Let‘s just say that not all werewolves in Carriger‘s world live forever (it‘s brought up on the #ParasolProtectorate series, although I‘m not sure how much people paid attention to it). I knew this was coming because I‘m in the Facebook group but I‘m still not ready.

Catching back up on the series...which is technically a new series. :) it's just so much fun reading anything by @GailCarriger. If you're in need of some action and only the best of fashion then I recommend these books!!
