Starting the day with a yummy maple oatmeal, and this delightful audiobook. I loved the Etiquette and Espionage series, and I‘ve been waiting to start this series FOREVER! I was thrilled when the hold finally came in last night. Perfect timing. 💜 #snowbootchallenge

Accepting that our #GoingforGold #bookolympics challenge failed and fell by the wayside this week. Life got in the way sadly, but we are getting stuck into this beauty of a book. I am just falling in love with Chaol 😍 and Celaena is my ultimate love ❤️

The story is set in the time of the war in Rodhesia, Zimbabwe today. Narrator of the story is 8-year-old girl and she is focused on what is happening in the family, we felt the war only by the arrivals and departures of the father on the battlefield and through comments made by grandfather. The story is an interesting blend of beliefs, traditions, and tragedies.
#book7 in #bookisholympics and #goingforgold is completed‼️

Back a Starbucks reading because I needs the coffee after staying up way too late last night to finish my book.

So excited for this little book of short stories! They read like dark, foreboding fairy tales, and so far remind me a bit of Kelly Link. Hoping this will be book 4 in the #BookishOlympics! Still #GoingforGold. 🏅

BekahB This one sounds interesting! I'm still hoping to get the gold for the #bookisholympics too. Not sure if my strategy to read multiple books at one time is going to work in my favor. I guess I'll find out! 😄 8y
DiruVamp Ohhhh this sounds good! 8y
MrBook You can do it! Go for that gold 😁👏🏻👍🏻! 8y

BookishFeminist @BekahB It's GREAT so far. I just posted the opening of one of the stories from it if you want a taste for the style. So magical yet haunting. 8y

BookishFeminist @MrBook Thanks! I don't think I'll make it since I've been busier than usual lately & reading more slowly but oh well! 8y
BookishFeminist @ScrappyMags Thanks!! I haven't been reading my usual speed either for whatever reason. Oh well! At least I'm enjoying my books & the Litsy social time. Good luck to you!! 8y

This book was EVERYTHING❤️💜💙ALL the feels ...beautiful writing, memorable characters and a story full of love, hope, loss and what makes a family! Completed book 6 of #BookishOlympics. About to return to final 100 + pages of EUPHORIA as I am #GoingForGold...I think I can, I think I can

Josie I loved this book. It was required reading the summer before my junior year of high school, and I adored it. Still do. 8y
Suzze Oh, I so loved it! The year it came out we called it "The year of bees" as there were at least three bee novels that were big. 8y
OneLitChick Such a great book! The movie was good too! 8y

#bookisholympics Its 12.15am Sunday here so I've officially finished the olympics. Yay! As well as the nine books here, I also finished The Glass Room by Ann Cleeves & I got through half of A Court of Thorns & Roses. So all up its 10.5 books in 7 days. I'm quite proud of that, though I do have a lot more free time than most people competing, but hell. Not bad for a self taught reader! #goingforplatinum🏅🏋

[DELETED] 2232195534 Congrats!! 8y

Ok, so I'm into this series now. It's not life-changing, but it's fun. This is better-written than the first. And I can't wait to get to the next one 😊

Also, these work great as audiobooks. But they're NSFW, or in the presence of children.

@TheSpinecrackersBookClub

Bette I read the first one, it's kind of a split personality. After your review, I might try the second, thanks. 8y
Sweettartlaura @Bette I'm not sure if she's just so damaged from her trauma & she's so isolated that she doesn't know that's a normal reaction to have... Or if she's just psychotic like she thinks. So anything that keeps me guessing - & has fun getting rid of bad guys - is fine by me 😜 8y
Bette Yeah, the switch up kept me reading the first one. She's kind of a strange avenger. 😋 8y

2🌟This book is NOT chronological in any way. The essays are not in order in her life and she wrote them between 38-41 years old. I found this very confusing. Beyond that, it was good for a few laughs, but there's nothing earth-shattering about it. It's funnier than Mindy Kaling but not as funny as Amy Poehler or Tina Fey, IMO. @Notafraidofwords I actually enjoyed the second half more. #differentstrokes

I hope this quote isn't me. 😕

Notafraidofwords You finished it! Some of it was really insightful, but I felt like some of it dragged. 8y
Megabooks @Notafraidofwords Yes, it was just ok, but worth reading. I don't know why I continue reading comedian (old, young, male, female) memoirs and expect to like them. Of course I'm on the list for Amy Schumer's. Insanity is reading the same book over again and expecting to like it. 😕 8y

Angelala007 Those were my feelings about children. For about 5 minutes. #childfree 8y
Megabooks @Angelala007 That's the plan. I really don't want kids. And I don't think a pregnancy would be safe for me health wise. 8y
Notafraidofwords @Ebooksandcooks lol very true. I love AS and I also can't wait to read it. 8y
[DELETED] 2437761296 Amen to being #childfree. ✌🏻️ 8y
Megabooks @margo_lane 👍🏻👍🏻 8y
Floresj I read it and liked it, but I also wondered why she didn't go in chronological order😕. 8y
Megabooks @Floresj Yes! Sometimes she was saying she was 38, yet a teenager in the 80s. I'm 36 and was not a teen in the 80s. When she finally said she was born in 1975, I've never been more relieved!! 8y
