I enjoyed reading this book a lot!!! I actually read the third book first. So I am going back and reading the other books. Love the characters. I rated this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

After reading the book, I was looking forward to watching the movie on Netflix. And...
What?! What did they do to the book?!
I am so disappointed with this movie!
Has anyone seen the movie and read the book?
This was a sweet book. After the death of her mother, Lina is encouraged to live in Italy for a bit.
I enjoyed her journey of self discovery and I was really happy with the ending. Now, things would have been answered sooner if she had the guts to talk to Howard from the beginning and finished reading her mom's journal first.
4⭐️.

Turns out there's a reason they call it falling in love, because when it happens - really happens - that's exactly how it feels. There's no doing or trying, you just let go and hope that someone's going to be there to catch you.
This was such a cute book!! Really enjoyed it!! It‘s about loss and finding love. I loved that it took place in Italy!! It brought me back to when I visited there. Such a beautiful place and a beautiful story.
This was so cute. I listened to the audiobook in one sitting. It had some sad moments, but ultimately stayed lighthearted. I don't know how I didn't know about this book until just now.
This was recommended to me by my friend‘s daughter, & I think it‘s a sweet YA story. It‘s a little silly that the author assumes the MC (& readers) doesn‘t know what prosciutto, cannolis, & gelato are, but I‘ll forgive that. Lina‘s mom dies & makes her promise to visit an old friend in Florence. Of course, there‘s a ya romance, but the story has substance due to grief & her mother‘s backstory. More books in series are set in different countries.
@Deblovestoread sorry this didn't get posted yesterday, but I love this all. I almost checked out Love and Gelato from the library last weekend.
My students loves the unboxing and even playing with the bubble wrap.
I feel very spoiled and loved.

The descriptions in this book are just stunning, and the mystery of Lina's mom's journal keeps you hooked. Every so often, Lina and Ren feel a little too squeaky-clean to be 16/17, but it's not detrimental overall. #yaromance #yalit #reread
This was sweet even though I don‘t believe for a minute a hs student traveling in a foreign country while mourning the death of her mother would savor the surprise gift of her mother‘s journal over time vs devouring in one sitting - esp when said journal contains the answers to unasked and unanswered questions she is actively trying to solve. …Also, props to any book that gives me an excuse to purchase gelato! ↓
Just watched the movie. It was OK... :)
Reread this book again because I hated the movie so much...I had such high hopes from it!
Happy Easter, Litsy friends!! 🥰 I just want to thank this community for keeping me sane, and for keeping my spirits up with everyone's mutual love for books during the past few years. Last Tuesday I learned that I passed my country's Bar Examinations, which took place 2 months ago after several delays and postponements. Litsy was part of my life the entire time I was preparing, and it will continue to be so in this new chapter of my life. 💜💜
This was cute and quick, but I could not at all get past the main conceit of the journal. I mean, it just didn't make a lot of sense. I did like all of the characters, though, and the setting was really fun.
Trying something new for a buddy read. The main character is driving me crazy, but there's room for growth.... She's just so completely uninterested in being in Italy. It's Italy!
Last night I remembered I didn‘t upload my opinion: fun and light✨It was a very good choice for the month of February
It‘s a cold, gray Sunday, so I decided to read an easy YA book set in Italy. A glass of white wine might be in order to complete the relaxed vibe.
Easy read! Despite the lightheartedness, I could still deeply feel heartbreak at certain points. Already bought the next book in the series!
"You know, people come to Italy for all sorts of reasons, but when they stay, it's for the same two things."
"What?"
"Love and gelato."
All my love to Jenna Evans Welch for writing this book, and this entire series. I will read whatever she writes. ?
This was a beautiful story! The friendship between Ren and Lina was sweet and perfect.
This is a new author for me. Sounds like a cute and heartwarming romance. It's gonna be a movie, so I'm excited about this one.
Who read it? Any comments?

So cute! I was really iffy on the beginning and the main girl annoyed me a bit but after a few chapters it really hooked me in 😊
Finished this audiobook on Thursday. I've been hearing great things about this for so long now and finally got around to it. It was really good. I loved the characters. Lena travels to Italy to stay with a father she has only just found out about. She doesn't know what to make of it. She finds out about a journal her mother sent and starts on a journey of discovery while reading of her mother's life in Italy with her new friend Ren. ❤
Finding out surprising news while going through a though situation is never good.
To learn about her mother as well as fall in love in Italy, I had a read time goin on this adventure with Lina.
I loved the thread the you can find family and a place of true belonging among people who don‘t share your DNA.

I‘m honestly amazed that I‘ve been using this little cool mist humidifier next to my bed for months now, and it has not made the slightest bit of damage to my books! 💖
This is definitely a feel good book. Anyone can read this and just feel happy. Definitely not what you expected! A cute love story from Italy. I honestly love it.
Italy is one of my all-time favorite travel spots in the world. I got this book solely to feel the nostalgia of when I used to travel there. The setting of this book is excellent, you could easily tell it was set in Italy and what I did enjoy is that it wasn't just filled with Italian stereotypes. The love story is cute, but it's not something that you haven't already read. Overall it's a cute book that has captured the essence of Italy
The story follows Lina, a 17 year old American girl whose mother has just died. She goes to Florence to fulfill her mother‘s wish that she would go and stay with Howard, a man who knew her mother but she has never met. When she arrives, she is given a journal that belonged to her mother and starts reading it to put together some of the missing pieces of her life.Overall, it was a very cute story and a great way to remind myself of an incredible city
Cute and fun YA novel set in Italy. Lina is a 16-yr old girl who just lost her mother and is sent to Italy to live with her father. Full of romance, family, and even a touch of mystery. Definitely makes me want to visit Italy soon and eat lots of pizza, pasta, and of course gelato! #Booked2020 pick for #ArmchairTravel
An enjoyable 4🌟 contemporary YA. When 16 year old Lina's mother dies, she goes to Italy to spend the summer with her estranged father Howard, an American expat, living & working in a WWII cemetery. She's a little bratty at first but she slowly starts to warm up to the idea that she's in Italy. Guided by her mother's journal from her own time spent in Florence, Lina learns what happened 17 years ago & why Lina's is here now with a dad ⬇️
A storm rolled through this morning, making perfect weather to build a modest blanket fort. Watson was rather suspicious of it at first but now he's gone from joining me to hogging it for himself. #summerfun @StayCurious
I loved Love & Gelato! Such a cute story and I loved being in Florence, along for the ride.
"Gelato. Italian ice cream. The greatest thing that will ever happen to you."
This book made me dream about my lost European vacation thanks to this pandemic, and gave me major FOMO about all the lovely food I missed. Basically, this book made me constantly hungry. Thank god it was a short read xD
"People came to Italy for all sorts of reasons, but when they sat, it's for the same two things."
"What?"
"Love and gelato."

Just finished this book this morning and it was so stinkin‘ cute! A solid 3.5 ⭐️ for this YA love story that takes place in Italy. Oh, the mental images I have of that country now male yearn to travel again! But for real, it‘s a fast, fun summer read that you won‘t regret. Can‘t wait to pick up the next in the series!!
