Catching Fire
Catching Fire | Suzanne Collins
Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.Suzanne Collins continues the amazing story of Katniss Everdeen in this second novel of the phenomenal Hunger Games trilogy.

Today‘s audiobook listening while I‘m at work. I have a long day for a Saturday unfortunately, but I am looking forward to tonight...having a birthday party for my 30th before leaving for vacation next week (my birthday is not actually til the 17th). Other than this audiobook, I don‘t think I‘ll have much reading time today.

How did i choose this book:
Write a brief summary of the novel; who was the protagonist; what was his/her problem and how was the problem resolved? Katniss Everdeen is the 17-year-old protagonist and narrator of Catching Fire.

I loved the first book, and I really liked the second book. Like I‘ve said before, definitely not my typical read but I‘m really enjoying them! I‘m excited to start reading the third book in a minute! Really gripping and I‘ve grown so fond of the characters.

I have a minimum of 4 books in rotation all the time. Except this time. I'm flying through it, everything else is on hold. I'm dreading that it will eventually end but at the same time I need resolution. I need to see the Capitol defeated, and truthfully, I need to see Panem come together and rage against oppression, poverty and abuse of power. Rage on, districts. Rage. On. #teamnosleep for #catchingfire 🔥

RebL I want to read all the books like this, but it doesn't always happen that way. 5mo
Scochrane26 This was my favorite series for awhile (besides HP, of course). And even though I was in my 30‘s. My sister & I even went to a couple of midnight showings. I do think the movies were done well, esp compared to other series‘ adaptations. Check them out when you get done w/ books. 5mo

Scochrane26 @ReadingOverSleeping I don‘t think I‘ve read any other ya or adult series that I‘ve loved as much as hunger games & HP. Don‘t read divergent, the 3rd book is a travesty & ruins the first 2. 5mo

So real life has gotten in the way of my reading. Ergh 😤 and I have 6 books that are within 100 pages of finishing... 😫. But I finally finished one! This was a great sequel to ThebHunger Games, and I can‘t wait to get to the final book in the trilogy to find out what Gale meant by that final statement. Great narration by Carolyn McCormick

I‘m so glad the 3rd book is already published so I can go right into it. Catching Fire was great! I loved all the new characters. Suzanne Collins is a true master at world building. As outlandish as the books are it all seems like it could easily be real. Despite all the stuff that happened I still find myself worrying about the whole Peeta VS. Gale aspect! Lol I‘m such a girl! But it‘s weighing heavy on my heart! Personally I‘m a #Peeta fan!

I flew through this #audiobook and can‘t wait to find out what happens in the final book. Since I‘ve only seen the first movie the rest of the series is still pretty fresh for me. I felt like the pace of this book was quick and engaging even if there wasn‘t very much character development. I am #teampeeta all the way tho. Bring on #mockingjay

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, won the LA Best Children‘s Book in 2009 and is in my top ten favorite books (SF). This story follows Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark and their unconventional romance and stressful life. After reading Hunger Games aloud, I would offer this book as an option in an LC.

audrey.wilson https://www.brighthubeducation.com/high-school-english-lessons/56284-teaching-ca... This lesson plan provides excellent prompts for creative writing assignments based on Catching Fire. I have this thing about not reading books in a series back to back. So after I finished The Hunger Games I decided to put a book in between ... So here we are - 3.5 years later and I‘m picking up where I left off. Lucky for me, I love this series as much as ever and can‘t wait to read #3 in the series! (...after I read this other book for #thebreakfastbookclub first 😬)

Catching Fire was definitely a lot slower than the first book. It focused more on the relationships between the characters and how they've changed from the first book, rather than actual plot. I wouldn't say that is a bad thing though, Katniss is definitely more fragile and vulnerable and we start to see more of a human side to her, rather than the unfeeling and emotionless character she was before.

I *know* how completely ludicrous this is, but despite the copious amounts of snow and horrifying temperatures, I made frozen custard today. Yes. It‘s true. I got the KitchenAid ice cream attachment for Christmas and this was its maiden voyage!

I listened to the tagged book on audio from the library while I did it so maybe the fire theme makes up for my ridiculousness. Probably not though 🤷🏼‍♀️
