I love Pete the Cat. He‘s so groovy. In this installment, Pete goes walking around in his shoes, stepping in stuff, messing up the color, and loving every minute of it. He‘s such a happy cat, and my 4 year old just adores this book.

We finished our cat books puzzle today. This one was super quick to put together and tons of fun.

Puzzle is called Feline Tales by Re-Marks. We bought ours at Barnes and Noble.

Lately we have been donating our puzzles, once we've completed them, to the local Little Free Library, but I think we may hang onto this one to do again.

This MF book would make a fun choral read CR in class, so the students can sing along with Pete each time he sings about his shoes. This story teaches kids to look at the bright side of situations, as Pete says “because it‘s all good”.

Chaseb UDL strategy 3.2 highlight patterns and big ideas is perfect for this book because the story and songs follow a certain pattern each time that would be fun to see if the kiddos figure it out.
EL strategy 14 making speech slow and redundant also fits perfectly in this fun sing-along book!
Highly recommend Pete the Cat books for elementary classrooms!

Karissacurrier I love the idea of using these books as a CR! The song element of the Pete the cat books work perfectly for this. 3y

Pete the Cat is a MF book written by Eric Litwin and illustrated by James Dean. Pete the cat is an adorable book about a cat named Pete and his new white shoes! Pete is skipping around town in his new white shoes and a long the way, he steps in some funky fun substances that change the color of his shoes. Pete did not see this as a bad thing. Instead,Pete stayed positive, loved his new shoes no matter what, and knew that all is good in the world!

JessicaO This book is perfect for RA or S activities! The students will find it fun to hear you sing along with Pete. You could even have the students sing along with you! UDL 3.1 is perfect because students will already recognize cats, colors, and shows! Since they already have something to relate to, use this to your teaching advantage. ESOL strategy #3 promotes positive self talk and and thinking! (edited) 4y

Nkaufmann Jessica, I think another good strategy you could use is encouraging positive self talk as in this book, Pete the cat always remains positive even when he steps into some weird stuff. I agree that this book would be great for RA activities. The students will love the beautiful illustrations. 4y
DrSpalding Funky fun substances is a great way to describe what happens in the story. You have a nice writing style. There are so many things you can do with this positive blue cat in your future, primary classroom. 4y

Pete the Cat I love my white shoes By Eric Litwin and Illustrated By James Dean. What a fun book to read and follow along with! This picture book is an MF and would work great using it as a RA with the entire class. The repetition in the book is great for EL students!

Viviannef This story is about Pete walking around with his white shoes. He steps into different things that change the color of his shoes. But that doesn‘t change Pete‘s mood to keep movin‘ and groovin‘. #ucflae3414su20 4y

This book is so fun! Great read! I love all of the visuals and think that the repetitiveness allows for a great esol book as well! This book is fantasy/ fiction and is a picture book. For this story I would use a read aloud strategy! I think it would be a great story to incorporate multi media and props while reading to really enhance the story and to connect the listener with the book!

Hannacallaham My esol strategies would be 15. Reinforce key ideas you present and and again and 14. Simplify your speech by making it slower and redundant. My UDL principles would be 1.3 offer alternatives for visual information and 1.2 offer alternatives for auditory information because I could incorporate an instrument and singing with this book! 4y

I Love My White Shoes is a short story of Pete the Cat and his shoes.. They don't stay white the whole story but it doesn't phase Pete one bit. The author Eric Litwin and the music creator James Dean came together to create a fun and engaging series that really capture students attention.

J.Cash Some of the many teaching strategies one can use are RA, S, IR, CR, and PR. Since this book is also based around music and color an EL student should be able to follow along in their own lamguage if not try to follow in English. 6y

I love this book so much! Pete the cat I love my white shoes by the one and only Eric Litwin. The book falls into modern fantasy (F) which won a Theodor Seuss Geisel honor award. This book is beautifully made for children, it allows children to have fun and learn a couple of Colors throughout. I love that at the end of the book there is a moral: "no matter what you step in, keep walking along and singing your song......"

Hervela.L Teaching strategy I decide will go well with this book is RA and DR. For the RA: https://youtu.be/UwUlh3i4qto and here is example how children can reenactment the story DR: https://youtu.be/b8hAqIkKHsI after the teacher can use this website to allow student to have fun and have a feeling of engagement https://www.pre-kpages.com/retelling-pete-cat-i-love-my-white-shoes/ (edited) 6y
Hervela.L UDL 1.1 offer ways customizing display of information also I align it with El strategy 46. Use discovery learning activities( sharing pieces of information to solve problems) both will go great with this story, because the children will want to be hands on when they hear the jingles in the book. 6y

Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes is a F PB writer by Eric Litwin and illustrated by James Dean. Pete the Cat is an entire series that is very popular but this specific book focuses on Pete and his brand new white shoes. As Pete steps into different things his shoes change color but his outlook doesn‘t. This book would be a good addition in the classroom because it teaches color and it includes the positive outlook that Pete is known for.

jasminep This link https://www.prekinders.com/pete-the-cat-book-connection-activity/ has activities for small groups and large groups that will teach the kids things that I mentioned earlier. The UDL I would use is 3.2 which is Highlight patterns, critical features, big ideas, and relationships.
The book is very repetitive so it‘d be easy to highlight the big ideas and patterns.
6y
jasminep The ESOL strategy I would use is 24 which is Incorporate the culture and the language of second language learners in your curriculum. It is very easy to translate the colors that the book talks about so they ELL‘s will have a better understanding.

Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes is a fiction book that was on the NYT best Seller list. It‘s about a blue cat that gets a new pair of white shoes. While walking in his new shoes he steps in strawberries, blueberries, mud, and water but despite his shoes getting ruined he stays positive and loves his shoes how they are at that point in the story. I would use this book in storytelling because it has a great message for children and it‘s upbeat.

Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes is written by Eric Litwin and illustrated by James Dean. This realistic fiction picture book is for children the ages of 3-7. The UDI strategies I would use is 3.2 and 2.1 because it will highlight the patterns in the story. The ESOL strategy is 11 since it will place meaningful language to the text.

This F PB written by Eric Litwin and Illustrated by James Dean would make a great book for any classroom library and would make an awesome RA to students. It‘s all about a cat who starts off with white shoes but as his day goes on he steps in all sorts of stuff, but instead of letting it ruin his day he just keeps going. This teaches students to not let one small thing determine your attitude for the day and instead look on the bright side.

WendyP http://www.teachertube.com/mobile/video/pete-the-cat-i-love-my-white-shoes-youtu...
