⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ 🌟 (4.5/5)

I'm doing the audiobooks for this series. And whoa. What a ride. Politics, plotting, magic, intrigue. I can't get enough of this series. I immediately started Empire of Gold, because it's just so intense. I have a funny feeling that this series will break my heart.

1. I have no plans this week!!! Books and cats are the only things on the agenda. I'm going to embrace the JOMO (joy of missing out). 😉
2. I don't keep organized. 😂 But I try really hard. 😅
3. I'd be in Daevabad right now (currently listening to The Kingdom of Copper). Which actually sounds better than work today - even with political intrigue and firey weapons. 😨 It's already been a day.

4✨ I was almost done with this when I got to class today. During the students break I finished it. Man what an adventure. It continues right where the first book left off and it leaves you on a cliffhanger in the end. I have to say I liked this book better than the first. I don‘t want to say too much, but people we thought were dead aren‘t, and a lot of people are lost in the end of this. #SeriesLove @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

Today was a busy, but productive reading day! I finished the physical read, caught up my serial reads, and listened to quite a bit of my first audiobook! I‘m going to add some new goals in finishing another physical read: Sweet Valley High #8, and Alls Fair in Love, War, and High School. Plus maybe a total of 3 audiobooks. 😊 #JoysofJune @Andrew65

A fantastic continuation to The City of Brass. I loved this book even more than the first. I was surprised to find that five years had passed since the events of the first book and the sequel and at first was a little saddened by this, but it actually worked so well for the plot. I really enjoyed how far the main characters had come in five years and learning what they had been doing.

Even better than the first book!

A time skip has happened as Nahri has settled into her new life, and actually finds she enjoys many aspects of it. Tensions which flared at the end of the first book have mellowed, but all the politics are still there. If you enjoyed book one, keep going. The expansion of the world beyond Daevabad, Nahri's growth, & new characters with their own plans makes this a great sequel.

Consider listening to it, the narrator is fantastic.

I haven‘t been able to read not one book during January because I caught Covid (how I caught it is still a mystery) and, being immunocompromised, my butt was kicked. I still have symptoms but at least the brain fog lifted, so I‘m trying to get back into the rhythm with the Daevabad trilogy. I‘m reading book 2, The Kingdom of Copper.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This series, the author‘s homage to the medieval Islamic world, is incredible. I loved this second part of the series & can‘t wait to see where book 3 takes us.
So much happened & changed & surprised in this one it‘s impossible for me to really review it without giving too much away. The multiple points of view added a lot to this one, and it was expertly constructed. Very, very good.

tokorowilliamwallace One of these days I'll get the memoirs and biographies of Lawrence of Arabia! I've been meaning to! Just got a book from the 80s by Laurie Devine called Saudi thrifting a couple of days ago (got a few hardback older books). And I still have James Clavell's 1400-page Whirlwind set among the Iranian Revolution of 1979 to work through. 2y

This was an audio read for me and I‘ve decided to check out a physical copy for book 3. I couldn‘t follow along well enough listening to it. There‘s much political posturing in this book and I find I don‘t like the character of Nahri or Ali at the moment. Maybe it‘s the audio but they act like spoiled children. The premise is still amazing and I do like the story perhaps not audio though.

LazyOwl I find I sometimes have completely different opinions of a book when I read the print instead of listen to the audio. Hope you enjoy the print more. I really enjoyed this series. 3y

So glad I finally finished this. I was savoring it, but I got to a point where I just needed to finish. I wish I had the next book already, but alas I‘ll need to wait at least a week to get it from the library.

This sequel was so good! It definitely didn‘t suffer from second story syndrome. I‘m definitely interested to see what how this journey is going to end.

I love this series. I don‘t have much experience with the traditional Middle Eastern folklore, but the glossary/description pages at the beginning and the end do a good job of explaining the pertinent language. The story is both entertaining and engaging. I can‘t wait to read the last book of the trilogy.

🍁 I loved my last read! It's about a powerful djinn healer still learning her powers in a magical, treacherous kingdom.

Thanks for the tag, @Hazel2019 😊

I've been trying more lately to appreciate the little things, like having the privilege of time and attention to get lost in a good fantasy series or to get excited about a new baby leaf on one of my plants 🌱

This book is the second in the series and while it did have some poorly paced slow sections, when the action and POVs all came together it was so gripping! I love these characters and can't wait to see how their story ends in book three.

Finally done with this book after... 26 (!!!!) days. I can‘t remember the last time it took me so long to read something. War and Peace, probably. 😅 it‘s not the book, it‘s definitely me and everything going on. While it was kind of a slow first half (again, could have been me), it picked up.

Anyone else finding it REALLY hard to focus on reading? I wish I could lose myself in a book more than anything.

Really strong follow-up to City of Brass... I love this world and the characters, the writing is strong, and the action and political intrigue don‘t let up. I didn‘t quite love it as much as the first book, and I think that‘s likely due to not enough Dara/Nahri togetherness. ❤️

Very much looking forward to the third book in June!
