Alexia Tarabotti is attacked by a vampire who seems to be unaware of her status as immune to attack since her touch makes supernatural creatures human again until the touch is broken. Alexia and the werewolf Lord Maccon investigate why the vampire is so ignorant and why vampires and werewolves are going missing in London.
Great world-building and story-telling that sucks the reader in, curious to know more about this world and the characters.
Finally starting this series. Haven't gotten too far in yet, but I really like the characters and the plot is intriguing!
This was a quick read. Follows the book pretty closely and the artwork is good. Fun to see things in pictures when I didn‘t really know how to picture them. #bookspinbingo
Thank you, thank you, thank you @MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm !! I‘ve not heard of the tagged book but it sounds great! And thank you so much for thinking of Wes! I can‘t wait to read these to him tomorrow! #allhallowsread Thank you @MaleficentBookDragon for organizing this lovely swap again!
I‘m not ready to give this book a rating because I‘m not really sure how I feel about it yet. There was so much I liked about it, but other parts it just drove me crazy it almost had me DNF it. I think I‘m gonna work on reading book to you before I really make a decision.

I adore Gail Carriger and her supernatural series.
This week's wine and book for #FridayNightBookClub
I saw that this canned wine is equivalent to half a bottle of wine. So I had to try it myself. 🥰📚🍷
Shout-out to my favorite dapper vampire, Lord Akeldama!

Today‘s #LittensDressedinBlood prompt:
“Werewolves in London”
Love this series, actually the paranormal romance that led to my love of historical romance too!
I missed yesterday‘s #LittensDressedInBlood prompt so making it up today. I tried to think outside the obvious werewolf related books, but the tagged one wouldn‘t let me go once I associated it with the song. 😅 I don‘t normally like the heroines in paranormal romances, but I ADORE Alexia, the parasol wielding, magic-canceling, ladylike badass. Image is from the manga which I haven‘t read yet but definitely want to.
This book was absolutely ridiculous and I loved it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A cute and steamy paranormal romance that didn‘t have me rolling my eyes at the MC! Alexia is a strong yet flawed character that I could actually relate to. I started and finished in a matter of days and am eager to hunt down the rest of the series since more than one person has mentioned they get even spicier. 🤭😜 I loved the steampunk aspects of the world-building. Laughed out loud often. Sad I have to return this copy to a friend. 😅
This was fantastic! What could be better that a paranormal steampunk regency romance heavy on wry British humor? I have to read the rest of this series and see what new adventures the crew gets up to! #bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks
Christmas morning when all but one presents were books (and the other one a comfy jumper to read in) :) merry indeed🎄🎅🤶📚

Escapism - sci-fi, fantasy, dystopian and magical realism. I love it all. A really good book should transport you so far you look up from the page and have to shake yourself back to reality. All of these books do that for me.
This was so good! Set in a world where the supernatural (vampires, warewolves, ghosts) exist and are an integrated part of society. The main character is spunky and the Victorian Romance is really delightful and hilarious. Will definitely read the rest of the series.
I didn‘t really like this at first. I just kept losing interest. I kept with it and finally I had that wide eyed oooooo moment (just me?) I ended up liking this and actually want to continue the series! I like that anticipation of a next book! #bookspinbingo
I actually have the tagged book, I just haven‘t read it yet.

This is such a fun historical fantasy series! Set in an alternative steampunk Victorian London rife with werewolves and vampires and mad scientists, the series has lots of romance and banter and a heroine who is as irrepressibly curious as she is capable.

Day 1 of #20series20days #top20series
I adored this steampunk series. It had everything: Victorian sensibilities, dirigibles, automaton ladybugs, ghosts, werewolves, vampires and of course Alexia. Lots of fun, romance, adventure and crazy hats.
There are five books in this series, plus a couple of spin off series.
I think we've all read this and loved it, but when I saw this illustrated version at Warwick's in La Jolla well, you know what happened.
"Miss Alexia Tarabotti was not enjoying her evening."

I enjoyed this audiobook. I loved the narration of Emily Gray and the story was a fun way to stay entertained at work.

Book 13 of the year
A sum of the bit of my life played out in the books I was reading at the time:
Prologue: Aug 2019, husband receives life changing job offer from the VA, changes in both income and physical location will comence sometime in Nov.
Nov 2019-Feb 2020, a whole lot of the gov't acting with every bit of the good communication and timeliness it's known for. (that is none. At all.)
I found this book and it had me hooked instantly.
#QuotsyFeb20 #inconvenience
“Miss Tarabotti‘s breath caught. Until that moment, she had not actually thought of the earl as pretty. But when he smiled. Oh dear, it was most inconvenient to deal with. Particularly before breakfast. She wondered what exactly was involved in making a first move. She removed her paisley shall.”
#QuotsyFeb20 #humble
Alexia‘s observation of Professor Lyall...
“He grinned at her and doffed his hat, which was of first-class design and sensible material. His cravat was similarly subtle, for, while it was tied expertly, the knot was a humble one.” 🎩🌂
I really enjoyed this. It's steampunk, but with vampires and werewolves. The main character is preternatural. When she touches someone supernatural, they turn completely human. Also, how great is this author photo?
#QuotsyJan20 #inane
From one of my favorite series.💜
“From that moment on, every time Lord Maccon entered a room, Miss Tarabotti arranged to leave it. When he moved purposefully across the receiving area toward her, Alexia sidled sideways and inserted herself seamlessly into a nearby conversation. It was usually something inane like the latest perfume from Paris, but it also involved various marriageable girls causing Lord Maccon to balk.”
I think there are actually TWO games based on the #ParasolProtectorate in the works! All fan-made did free, and I think I may get to help test one!
Some happier news - Parasol Protectorate fans are creating a free table top RPG. I‘ve seen it talked about in the FB group and they‘re also on Twitter @ parasolverse is the username. I hope I get a chance to play it. 😀

As much as I reread Carriger, it‘s been a minute since I went back to this first. It‘s charming to@think of the complexity and depth of personality the characters have gained over the series, as compared to this first introduction; Alexia really comes into her own later, and secondary characters earn far greater characterization. A comfortable bedtime companion.
Funny, smart and with a heroine that is shaped like a real woman! Carriger has created a fun steam punk world and I can't wait to read more in the series!
This is always delightful. I forgot how much I absolutely adore this book.
Just finished listening to this audiobook and have to say how very much I enjoyed it! Loved the strong female MC and enjoyed her take-no-guff attitude. Also enjoyed this different take on werewolves and vampires. Looking forward to reading the next in the series. 5/5⭐️
Well...that was fun 😁
