Though I did predict the ending, there were some fun twists throughout. It also had solid pacing that kept me interested to the end. Domestic thrillers are not my favorite and there are some elements which may put off some readers. Also the men in this story are so clueless… Still, overall a fun time. 3.5⭐️

Karen has a car accident that erases her memory of the hours before. Her husband is worried, her neighbor supportive, and everyone is keeping secrets. The plot has potential but the execution misses the mark. The writing is repetitive, lacks subtlety and there is too much 'tell' and not enough ‘show'. Still, the idea behind the plot is decent. If you pick this one up, I recommend going in blind to let the suspense unfold. ⭐️⭐️💫 2.5/5 ❤️📚

Karen Krupp leads a simple, quiet life. She keeps her house clean and tidy, with everything in its place. Which is how she realizes that someone has been in her house- small, seemingly unnoticeable things are slightly out of place. When she has a car accident, everyone who knows her is surprised to hear that she was speeding and running red lights, something she would never do. Does it have anything to do with whoever has been in her house?
Very quick thriller, or at least it felt like one having read it in one afternoon. Picked up for library book club. Karen crashes her car and finds herself with amnesia while charged for murder. Starts crazy, but gets more twisted as it goes along. I‘m new to this genre, so I‘m getting a feel. I enjoyed it, whereas I do see others comments on it being repetitive and flat at many points. Multiple unreliable narrators.

A good book, if not a bit predictable. All I can say without giving too much away is be careful who you trust.

“In this neighborhood, danger lies close to home.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 this book had the potential of being really good but the end was deceiving.
Wow! First off, this book had me hooked from the beginning. I swore I knew how it was going to end.... I was so wrong! Excellent plot twist!

I'm wondering why I've put off reading this author for so long. This book is absolutely unputdownable. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐📖📖📖

A Stranger in the house, Shari Lapena

What a fantastic book!! Couldn't put it down. Shocking ending!!

Book 32🎧
Well I thought I had this one all figured out. But as usual, Shari sneaks in a twist right at the end!
Karen is in a car accident and can‘t remember the evening before, but she knows someone‘s been inside her house…touching her things, laying on her bed…

The best thrillers are the ones that are actually several stories weaving together in a completely bonkers way so this was right up my alley. This was fast-paced and completely gripping!

⭐⭐
Not my favorite Shari Lapena at all. It was SO repetitive. It felt like "Karen was afraid. Karen didn't know what to do. Karen was REALLY afraid. Karen REALLY didn't know what to do." ? And the main characters weren't all that likable. But. That ending. ? Hehe. Best part of the book.
It was ok. Characters not overly likeable and slightly irritating. The character of Brigid was a bit predictable. Not too many twists and turns to fulfill the aim of the book I felt. Meh 😒

Back to a good thriller after a little detour to Hogwarts ☺️🤓😨

Nice quick read that I didn‘t have any preconceived ideas about prior to reading. It was pretty good! Had a couple twists that surprised me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Karen Krupp can‘t remember the past after she had a car accident. What was she doing in that part of town? Is Karen capable of murder? Her husband and her best friend are wondering about her. Does she have a secret past? Good writing. This was an easy read and a twisty page-turner. Kept me guessing. Suspenseful. Recommended to those who love psychological thrillers.

Karen suffered amnesia from a car accident and is now being accused of murder. Why did she run out so frantically at night anyway? The truth is she has a secret past that neither her husband Tom or their neighbor (and her best friend) don‘t even know about.
But is Karen really capable of murder?
There was a predictable twist and ending that most mystery readers will be able to figure out before the halfway point, but I enjoyed reading it.

Happy Wednesday!
Starting another from the “to be read” shelf

As far as mystery/thriller novels go, this one was decent. It doesn‘t fall into the trap of too obviously and frustratingly withholding information (I‘m looking at you Woman In The Window). That said, the characters and settings are still relatively one dimensional.
I think if you are a fan of the genre you will probably be satisfied with this book.

As I show you two of my current reads, I want to tell you about my brainwave to get me using Litsy more.
If you check my bio, I have the page or percentage counts listed for my reading progress. Hopefully, this will get me using the app more.
And if you‘re ever up for some book related chat, I‘ve also added my Discord ID to my profile bio.
I hope everyone is staying healthy this September and I can‘t wait to see what everyone is reading!

Karen Krupp is the perfect house wife but when she is in a bad car accident racing away from the rough part of town the same night a man was murdered ... maybe she‘s not so perfect after all.
I did enjoy this but felt we needed another couple of chapters to wrap it up , I wanted more info. Unless she is leaving it open for a second 🤷♀️
A great, easy read! I quite enjoyed the story and I wouldn‘t be upset if there was a sequel.

This author writes some seriously twisty books. No matter how much you think you know what's going on, she will find some way to surprise you.
It's hard to write about psychological thrillers without giving away spoilers. If you enjoy this genre, I definitely recommend this one.
Easy read and hard to put the book down. Not the most complex book but a fun beach read.

I wasn‘t sure what to expect going into this book after reading some of the pan and so-so reviews, but I actually enjoyed it! It was recommended to me by a friend, so that‘s why I ultimately gave it a chance and I‘m glad I did. It was well-written and a fun mystery/thriller read. The only problem was that I figured out the mystery about halfway through the book. This was pretty much a Lifetime movie in book format

📚I don‘t read a lot of psychological suspense so I don‘t know how this compares to other books In the genre.
📚I recommend the audiobook over other formats. The voice actor Tavia Gilbert is ace.
📚I would read another novel by this author. In fact, I‘ve got An Unwanted Guest waiting for me on my Kindle thanks to Libby.
📚Overall entertaining with a twisty, satisfying pay off.

This has been an entertaining book to listen to thus far as I plan for my wedding reception/celebration. Shari Lapena is a new to me author so I might check out her other books.
