I loved this! Was expecting a light summer read but it was more than that. Thoroughly enjoyed this historical fiction piece set during WWII and present day.
Loving this! Received it in a #Litsyswap Need to look to see who it was from!
Ugh. What a disappointment. I ended up skimming the second half. I cared nothing for any of the characters at all. Super boring with no real point to the entire story.
I didn‘t do very well on day 1. So many distractions. Today after I get some homework done will be spent reading as it‘s super rainy today. I shared a pic of a tulip I have blooming. I have a very serious black thumb so having bulbs bloom is very exciting. #25infive on to day 2. Happy reading y‘all.
A book and dinner. #potatocheesesoup #cornbread #fiestaware #25infive

TODAY'S PROMPT: RUMOR
An enjoyable book by Michelle Gable.
Have you read it and heard the rumor? :)

August reading stats:
1 graphic novels
2 audiobooks
7 print books
10 total
Not my best reading month, but not my worst by far. And there were a few really great books in there! 😊 Also it was my Birthday month, so it had that going for it. Goodbye, August! #ReadingStats
I couldn't take a pic outside because it's raining, so my flip-flop wreath will have to do as a backdrop. 🏖
I enjoyed this book, and having spent all of my teenage summers on the beaches of New England, the setting thoroughly appealed to me. It was a very slow starter though, but it picked up about 3/5 of the way through. Reading about the two different time periods connected by one special house was interesting as well. 3 1/2 stars #SummerReads
Reading some of the viewpoints from the 1940's, I'm reminded of how very far we've come as a country concerning equal rights, and just how very far we still have to go. 🏳️🌈 #LoveIsLove
When you get all comfy on the couch, open your Kindle, and..... 😭😭😭😭
I'm enjoying the sunshine in the new lounge chair that the hubs got me. Summer isn't over yet! 😎☀️
It just feels appropriate to read this book while sitting in the sun. ☀️😎 #SummerReads
I need something lighter after that last book, so maybe I'll read a chapter or two of this one before I go to sleep. #ReadindInBed
I'm keeping my August #TBR simple, because I'm sure it will change a bit since I read based on my mood. But I've been looking forward to reading Into The Water since before it came out, and these other two books just look like fun summer reads. ☀️🏖👙 #AugustMostAnticipated #AndItsAugust @RealLifeReading #MostAnticipated #BackToReading @Tiffy_Reads
I liked this book. The story was good and I enjoyed the characters. The Nantucket setting makes it a good book to read on vacation, at the beach, etc. The story came together nicely and while I did guess how it would end, I really enjoyed reading it.
Gorgeous cover, but the story line was just ok for me. It was still enjoyable. Blog review is at this link: https://silversolara.blogspot.com/2017/05/the-book-of-summer-by-michelle-gable.h...
Loving The Book Of Summer! The weather is wonderful! Canadian summers are the best! #happyplace
Time for a quick bookish update, summer edition: http://aquedita.eu/post/162198219549/time-for-a-quick-catch-up-the-past-few-mont...
Find out what I've been reading recently and what is on my TBR.
The Cliffs, a large family compound, is about to fall into the ocean but Cissy refuses to leave. It is her family home and contains generations of life and secrets. Bess, her daughter, returns home to try and get Cissy to leave while hiding secrets of her own. Alternating between the past and the present long hidden family secrets are revealed. It was a little predictable and at times the jumping between time was frustrating.
Secret Santa post #4 These are two A.R.C's that my secret santa @hes7 very thoughtfully included as "bonus" books. I'm looking forward to reading them both!!! ? #SummerSantaGoesPostal #SummerSolsticeBookExchange

It's finally the long weekend & the rain has stopped!! Hope you find lots of time to read in your favorite spot!!
Happy Friday!!! Starting my day my favorite way- with a book & coffee ( in a new mug)!! Planning to squeeze out as much reading time as I can this weekend
A rainy morning is made for reading and coffee!!

Can't wait for the weekend when I can really take time & enjoy this book!!
I received an eARC copy from St Martin‘s Press via NetGalley. Predictable & odd, but the characters worked their way into my heart by the end. I think some people will really like this book. It‘s got an interesting setting, on Nantucket, & I could see the fancy houses & the smell the sea as I read, but I just failed to connect to the story & the characters.
Michelle Gable fans, her new novel is out today! Really looking forward to this one -- she was inspired by an article about beautiful Nantucket beach homes sliding into the ocean, and that image is just so powerful. Can't wait to read.
Current Read: "Right on time or days overdue, Cliff House gives me the same feeling every time. We pull into the drive and the gray shingles, white trim, and brilliant lilacs beckon. This is my forty-fifth summer at Cliff House, something north of four thousand days, but my stomach still somersaults with the thrill of it, the promise that our lives will change, if only for a season."
I finished a WHOLE BOOK. Ha. It's been weeks since I've focused on a print book! Hoping this means I'm out of my audio-Only rut. {Photobomb by Juliet, doing the Hokey Pokey on the trampoline. She made me play it on repeat for about half an hour while I read... I'm sure the neighbors love us. 😜}
Juliet and I are snuggled toe-to-toe on the couch, each with our own book. ❤📚😍 #raisingreaders
A double option for #freshpick - one is a fresh, new book that comes out in May, and the other is the most fresh & flowery cover I own! #springflingreading 🌸📚🌼
I like this cover a LOT. The description sounds basically exactly like the book I'm reading now (a New England family saga)... but I might still take it for a spin. (See what I did there? 🚲) #bookmail1through12
There were moments in this book, mainly from the current time in the book, that I really enjoyed the book. But when it went back in time to the 1940's, the story lost me. Overall it was a cute story, but I wish I had enjoyed all aspects of the story.
