Miraculously alive after her ordeal, Flora has spent the past five years reacquainting herself with the rhythms of normal life, workingwith her FBI victim advocate, Samuel Keynes. She has a mother whos never stopped loving her, a brother who is scared of the person shes become, and a bedroom wall covered with photos of other girls whove never made it home. Flora Dane is reckless. . . . or is she? When Boston detective D. D. Warren is called to the scene of a crimea dead man and the bound, naked woman who killed himshe learns that Flora has tangled with three other suspects since her return to society. Is Flora a victim or a vigilante? And with her firsthand knowledge of criminal behavior, could she hold the key to rescuing a missing college student whose abduction has rocked Boston? When Flora herself disappears, D.D. realizes a far more sinister predator is out there. One whos determined that this time, Flora Dane will never escape. And now it is all up to D. D. Warren to find her.

Listening to the tagged audio for #trappedonanisland while I work on some #retro paintings for #LitsyCrafters. I found some fun inspiration on Pinterest, so I‘m just going to paint and colour for the next few hours. 🙂

The book was chosen by @Read4life and although I‘m only 25% in, I‘m really enjoying it so far! After a handful of contemporary fictions, I‘m ready to get back to thrillers 🖤

Another phenomenal book from Lisa Gardner! A chilling case, and just as twisty and suspenseful as the rest.

Though in my haste to queue up plenty of her books from the library, I accidentally skipped one and read this out of order - oops! By the time I realized I was already 25% through, so I just got on with it. Turned out fine, just a few minor (in the grand scheme of things) spoilers on DD's personal life 😬

Just brilliant! Book 8 in the DD Warren series was another good one. I don't know what I should be more concerned about. The fact Lisa Gardner has a very twisted mind or the fact I enjoy the books 🤣

Aww man, what a great book by Lisa Gardner, and D.D Warren.
Flora was kidnapped for four hundred and seventy two days. Is safe for 5yrs except for the awful memories of being kept in a coffin. Then a girl goes missing, and Flora gets kidnapped again, but this time she finds the missing girl Stacy Summers. Can they get out alive, and who kidnapped Flora this time?

This was a great read! I was intrigued from the beginning. The nature of the victim after being held captive is never explored, so this was refreshing. I‘ve read some reviews that said it was improbable, but in many cases I think people tend to be self destructive especially when suffering from PTSD. If you like a good criminal minds story, you‘ll love this one!

If I had been less than impressed by the seventh book in the D. D. Warren series, then this eighth book more than made up for that! I thoroughly enjoyed every page! It‘s exciting, the characters are well-developed and the plot has some genuine surprises too! I can‘t believe that I only have two books left in my #BookBinge!

Lisa Gardner does it again! I have never been disappointed with her books thus far.

Flora Dane is a victim: Gardner paints a gruesome picture of Flora‘s past. But she is also a survivor. This story is about her journey to live, not only survive.

I‘ve learned something about myself as a reader. I prefer the “marathon” approach rather than the “sprint” to the end. Sure, I can be a fast reader but why rush it?

I have lots of things going on lately but take time to read a few chapters each day. Some days more than others. And this is okay!

I still consider myself a bookworm by my own definition.

This book comes to mind as a unique read because I have never felt such intense feelings of terror while reading anything else! I remember I started this one during a really difficult period in my life and it sucked me in from the first page and gave me the escape that I needed! Interestingly enough, I haven‘t read anything else by this author although I know she has written many books. Any recommendations?

Day 24: Power
In my 32 years on earth, this is without a doubt the most difficult year I‘ve survived. Never underestimate the power of a supportive spouse, loving family, amazing friends, a cute (yet annoying) pet and of course a great book to see you through the darkness. The tagged book is the one I picked up when I needed an escape the most- and it did not disappoint! Intense and all consuming- not for the faint of heart!

This was so so scary!! Until about the last quarter of the book when I was pretty sure I‘d figured it out. But very compelling and still a page turner. Cant say I really liked DD all that much but I‘m definitely open to reading more of the series.
