#BFC @wanderinglynn One print book complete. One audiobook in progress. Spring Cleaning 🧹🧽🧺 instead of walks or yoga, but actually it‘s been more motivating. Tracking all my food and eating according to plan. I‘m feeling good. 🌹

#StackAttack2019 #BFC This is a #DollarTree find from a couple years ago. Very creative!!! A young woman from a Vietnamese family has a connection to the Little House on the Prairie. Lee read the books as a child and realizes that a gift left for her grandfather in Vietnam is connected to “Rose” and is mentioned in one of the Little House books! She tracks down clues and finds a life of her own along the way. A solid 3/5🏠s. Cover love too!😍

#BFC @wanderinglynn #DayOne I‘m not planning on counting points, my prizes will be better health and interacting with my Litsy friends who are participating. Great timing for this because I just finished a Whole30 yesterday and it will keep me disciplined as I reintroduce some foods. Goals: Track food daily,64 oz water/ day, walk outside on days off work, 3 yoga poses/day, & 4 print/2 audiobooks. We will finish on my birthday! Fitbit name: wife21

@suvata @litenthusiast Hi Group J! For some reason, Litsy won‘t let me tag Mikala😕. I finished this one and will mail it this week. It was a fast, suspenseful read. It isn‘t something I would usually read...I get scared easily. I won‘t say more, so I don‘t spoil it for Kelli. 2/5😱s

So what do you do when a book is not in the database??? I‘m thrilled that Scribd has started “originals”. The reader, Kevin Charlie, did an excellent Harper Lee and a baritone bad guy. Harper Lee had some plans to write about this Southern Preacher/serial killer who would “Preach on Sunday and kill on Monday”. Really good read from the author of The Man in the Rockefeller Suit. @Kaye I think you would like this. A solid 3/5☠️s

Kaye Thanks for the heads up ! I haven‘t heard of this book, although I knew she went to a southern town many years ago in which a murder happened and she was supposedly thinking of writing a book on the story but she apparently never wrote it ( or it has never surfaced yet ). There‘s another coming out about it this week too . I‘ll keep an eye peeled for this. I read another by that author that was very good. (edited) 2w
Clare-Dragonfly You can submit a book to be added to Litsy: https://www.librarything.com/litsy_addbook_manual.php 2w

Wife @Clare-Dragonfly I will take a look at this link. Thanks for sending it to me. I had not run into this problem before. 🌹 2w
Wife @Kaye Oooo! What is the title of the other book book about this serial killer? Do you have Scribd? I think the reader really created an atmosphere with the many voices and accents. 🌹 2w
Kaye The other book comes out tomorrow. It‘s about the same case. 2w
Kaye I searched all over for the book you mentioned and the only place that had it is Scribd. I was a member a few years ago ( I think 2015 ) , so I signed back up and got the 30 days free. Downloaded the audiobook and been listening all morning. It‘s very good. I‘ll have it done soon, as it‘s short. Review to come then. Thanks for the tag or this one would‘ve slipped right by me. 😊 2w

This is one I‘ve wanted to read for awhile. The combo of a memoir and true crime was intriguing. It was engaging and well written. My takeaway question is WHAT WERE THE PARENTS THINKING??? I‘m baffled 😕 3/5⭐️s. Trigger warnings⚠️

I‘ve had this on my TBR for awhile and finally ran across a copy at #Bookbug in Kalamazoo. The Michigan connection is what sparked my interest, but this memoir knocked my socks off! So good! Molly‘s upbringing with a bank robber for a father, being a child of an incarcerated parent, the love of her mentally ill mother, sisters split between parents, and more. #MittenLitten #OneSittingRead A solid 4/5💔s

I picked this up used at a library sale. Let‘s start with the good points: pages that look like parchment, portraits of the Ks&Qs, and calligraphy-like headings. Nice visuals. However, though I‘m sure the snippets of info are rooted in truth, it reads like a sensationalized tabloid. I ❤️ to read accounts of the English Monarchy in particular and this did not satisfy. I‘m not going to pan it. It may spark an interest in history for someone. 2/5👑s

I‘m a big fan of the very positive (and popular) show Queer Eye on Netflix. I happened upon Karamo‘s book on Scribed. I‘ll never pan an author‘s memoir, but I felt like this was a “just the facts” book that was devoid of feeling. I‘m not sure 🤔 if the book was rushed because of the start of the new season. He has had an eventful life that includes abuse and addiction, and tells how he worked through life issues. Uplifting and encouraging. 3/5👁s

RebL I enjoyed the first group of QE, but I‘m near tears with each episode of the new QE. Also, I get what you‘re saying about memoirs that are just the facts. I thought basically the same thing about John Taylor‘s. Like, wow, all that living and no feelings about it? 1mo

Jerdencon @RebL huge Duran Duran fan here and I have a signed copy of the book but can‘t get myself to read it (for years now!) because I‘m afraid of that. And not really digging this group of QE guys too much. 1mo

I‘m going to give an #unpopularopinion. Lisa See is one of my favorite authors and I have loved everything of hers until this book. I just couldn‘t engage with the characters or the story. The detailed life of a haenyeo is interesting and shows that See did a lot of research. However, beyond that, it just wasn‘t for me. I‘ll give a 3/5🐚s so-so.

I can‘t imagine being in this mother‘s shoes. How painful it must have been to write about her feelings of guilt, shame, and grief. She fully acknowledges Dylan‘s crimes. The most frightening thing is that her son was the typical “moody at times” teen. She didn‘t discover that he was severely depressed/suicidal until after the tragedy. She talks about her current work with suicide prevention. It will be 20 years since Columbine this April. 🖤

Lovesbooks87 I can't imagine either. I read her book after reading Columbine. Wondering how she didn't see the signs and this book gave me so many answers. Absolutely heartbreaking! 2mo

This surprise from @StephanieGeiser came in the mail last week. Not what I imagined and the letter writing project that the author started doesn‘t appear until very late in the book. However, it is a slow, very melancholy journey through depression and loneliness. Many lovely metaphors. A search for God and purpose in life. Many mentions of God, but no over bearing religious content. I really enjoyed it. Check out her TED talk & website. 3/5💌s

1️⃣People seem to either love this book or hate it. I hated it 😖
2️⃣Pack
3️⃣I asked a man standing next to me at the meat counter what he wanted for dinner (my husband had been standing there a moment before)🥩
4️⃣Clean (like soap 🧼) on people. Freshly cut grass. Ground coffee. Baby feet 🦶🏻.
5️⃣Grey Dove 🕊 (Lonesome Dove is my book)

#Sassafras and I finished another bedtime read tonight. I actually liked this one. Sassafras says that his favorite part was when the service man was startled to see a penguin and ran out of the house. 3/5⭐️s We are looking for our next read and are open to recommendations.

sammisho How old is he? My 6 yo and I have been reading the boxcar children! 4mo
catebutler How fun! I loved this book when I was a child. ❤️ 4mo
Wife @sammisho He is 5. I looked at the Boxcar children books at the library tonight, but they didn‘t have the 1st book in the series. Does he need that for intro to the characters? There are so many books in the series!😮 4mo
Wife @catebutler I had never read it. New to me. And fun to read it with him. BTW skip the movie, it‘s awful. He liked some of the slapstick humor with the penguins, but the story was Not the same. 4mo
catebutler @Wife I vaguely remember the movie, when it first came out, with Jim Carrey, but you‘re right, the book was so much better! 4mo

I ❤️ a good memoir! Bonus: excellently read by the author. Tena was raised in Mississippi by a “complicated” man during segregation and the civil rights era. Even as a child, she fought against the injustice of the times and the South. Warning ⚠️ Language of the times is difficult to hear, but I want her to tell me how it really was...no sugar coating for me. Also, get your tissues ready before chapter 30 😭😭😭 4/5⭐️s

catebutler This sounds intriguing! 4mo
Wife I‘m glad I stumbled onto it. It was very honest and raw. Some heart ❤️ wrenching moments though. And if you see it through to the end, you‘ll see that indeed her father was a “ complicated” man. 4mo
Reviewsbylola Ok first off, that author looks amazing for being born in 1953! Also, this reminds me a bit of my dad and his nanny. She essentially raised him. She died almost thirty years ago and he still has her picture on his dresser. ❤️ 4mo
Wife @Reviewsbylola Virgie was the only one that was stable and showed unconditional ❤️ 4mo
Kaye I have this on audio. Great to see a photo of the author ! I knew she was around my age just from the little bit I‘ve read about it. I love southern memoirs. 4mo

#LitsyWalkers @kaye

This is the 2nd book by this author I‘ve read, and they were both hits. Very frank and respectful, while also entertaining. Really makes you think about our North American traditions surrounding death. 4/5💀s

I took a walk to finish up this audiobook on Thursday, but my phone died so I finished on the way to work Friday. This statue was in a clock repair shop window-the most interesting thing I saw on my walk.

Cinfhen I‘ve been meaning to listen to this book Thanks for putting it back in my radar 4mo

Join me for #StackAttack2019 I‘d ❤️ to see our stacks dwindle, so tag me please. I‘m going to keep count of my stack reads with a number at end of the post. I‘m only counting book owned prior to 2019.

I really liked Irby‘s 1st book and enjoyed this too. The sex related content is over-the-top and tiresome. She is self-aware and writes that she has a “child-like need to be shocking and provocative”. But overall, it‘s 3/5🐓s (1)

HOTPock3tt I‘ll join you!!! 🤗♥️🎉 @Wife (edited) 4mo

BarbaraJean @HOTPock3tt Story of my life! 😊 4mo
Wife @HOTPock3tt @BarbaraJean Weeks? Years for me 📚📚📚😂😂😂 but I‘m inspired! 4mo
HOTPock3tt @Wife yeah it hasn‘t been long... since I was mostly just borrowing from the library. Remember I mentioned I only recently got my book shelf and starting buying more/organizing the ones I do own? I always thought my apartment is too small for a bookshelf 😪 But I threw all that out the window recently and started buying!! Now the unread list is piling up 😅 lol 4mo
BarbaraJean @Wife Hahahaha—I was gonna say years, but then I thought: “I do that every week, too!” There are books on my TBR I‘ve been “meaning to read”‘for 20+ years! 4mo
Wife @HOTPock3tt @BarbaraJean I will be thrilled if I can make a significant dent in the stack. 🥳🥳🥳 4mo
HOTPock3tt @wife @BarbaraJean TBR is different though! I‘m finishing up a series right now that I started 19 years ago! And have been “meaning to finish” ever since 😂 4mo
HOTPock3tt @Wife @BarbaraJean same here Vickie!! If I can make a dent in the stack that I own I will be really happy!! 😎 4mo
BarbaraJean @HOTPock3tt Oh, I mean TBR shelves, not a list!! I don‘t even count how many are on the list anymore, just the ones I own—which have been waaaaaay past the “stack” label for years now! I need to make a dent in the shelves and stop buying as well—😩 4mo

#ListyWalkers @kaye Didn‘t get a chance for my walk until dark, so I walked a well lit and populated route. I walked in the dark listening to NF about dead bodies. Didn‘t go far. BTW, the LFL had zilch😐.

#Sassafras and I finished this as one of our bedtime reads. His favorite part was when Pa had the threshing machine come help harvest wheat. He was amazed that Laura had never seen a machine before. So he began listing all the machines she hadn‘t seen...it was a long list. 3/5⭐️s

Bailedbailed

I made it halfway through the audiobook and I‘m going to bail. The reader performances are nothing special. I don‘t care about any of the characters, except maybe Brownie the chicken 🐓. I‘m a fan of historical fiction set in WWII, but this one isn‘t for me. I just cannot see wasting my time when my TBR awaits.

Melissa_J Interesting. I have this on my TBR pile. Hopefully it works for me (but if it doesn‘t I‘ll bail, too). 4mo
