I'm withdrawing this falling apart copy of Jurassic Park from my library's collection that is old enough to say “Soon to be a motion picture“.
Life, uh, finds a way
Don't know if my many posts about it gave it away but I loved this book!!! It had all the action, adventure and dinosaurs of the movie, but with more depth 🦕 Not to mention the terrifyingly intelligent Raptors actually being terrifyingly intelligent 🦖
There were so many edge of your seat moments, and the background it gave was amazing. If you loved the movie, then I really think you'll love this too 😊

“Living systems are never in equilibrium. They are inherently unstable. They may seem stable, but they‘re not. Everything is moving and changing. In a sense, everything is on the edge of collapse.
God created dinosaurs. God destroyed dinosaurs. God created Man. Man destroyed God. Man created dinosaurs. Dinosaurs eat man. Woman inherits the earth.”

🦕 I'm half way through and I can't listen to it fast enough!!! Putting it down was the most difficult thing I've done today 😅 it felt good to pick it back up again 😊
So for those familiar with the movie... YOU NEED TO READ THIS! Somehow it manages to surpass it's brilliant adaptation tenfold 🦖

#TBRChallenge: LOVING 🦕Jurassic Park🦖 more and more with every minute I listen too ❤
He's moved away from the habit of sciencing up the story a little bit, so it's easier to follow, and we're getting to meet some of the iconic characters from the movie now which is exciting 😁 the difference between the book and the film are immense so far but then I'm not even 3 hours in yet...
Looking forward to where we might go from here! 🧡💛💙
#TBRChallenge: got a start on a new #Audiobook, and I'm pretty excited about it 🎧
So far (about an hour in) it's completely different the movie and Michael Crichton is loading it up with as much science as possible, like he does in his other works.
Its annoying because the science can be a bit much and it's a lot to wade through, but then he creates some magnificent characters and his scenery crafting is stunning! ❤🧡💛
1 hour down, 14 to go 😅
#audiowalk in New York City. The views are great, the bagels fantastic, and the book is as I remember from my first read (although the movie has overwritten some of my memories of it 😁). Happy Saturday, everyone! #litsywalkers #currentlyreading
At the Science-fiction/Fantasy Area meeting of the PCA. This presentation on Jurassic Park et. al. movies is not very deep and I would never have let a student of my write this, but it's entertaining. Also, in this case, the book was not better.
Going to start reading this at the suggestion of @hannah-leeloo
Not technically book related but I love this! Taking a break from reading tonight and having a family movie night to watch Jurassic Park for about the 100th time! It never gets old to me!! #strongfemalerolemodels
New books, as if my TBR list isn't long enough, haha, at least I have read Jurassic Park once years ago
Mine are Jurassic Park and LotR 😊
So this book. Oh man. I really enjoyed it, except when I didn‘t. The characters were not well developed. A huge point was made of explaining why all the adult animals are female and then the T-Rex is referred to throughout as male. Because deep-seated sexism? I listened and read and Scott Brock‘s effeminate portrayal of Dr Wu was a confusing choice. It was a fun ride but reading it let me sit with the story long enough to see the frayed edges.
I had a hard time getting into this book, felt like I knew all the story beats from the film, but along the way parts of it encapsulated me into the suspense and thrill. I loved how they brought scientific concepts to an accessible point for readers to understand. But the irritating characters sort of brought it down for me. A solid read, I‘d say between 3 and 4 stars!

Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's difficult to read a book when you know the movie based off of it so well. I had expectations and visions that didn't quite turn out as expected and it was difficult not to immediately picture the movie characters. That being said, I loved the scientific detail and the story overall is a work of genius.
I‘ve always loved this movie and I can‘t believe I‘ve never read the book. I finally bought it and one of my assistants bought me the best mug ever for Christmas. 💙💙💙 🦖 🦕 tea finds a way. 😂😂🤣🤣 #greenteaanddinosaurs @SidG
I really want to just sit down and read . But December is always so busy! Especially right now. Christmas. Family time . Job searching . Started working part time as a seamstress doing alterations! And just got hired as a substitute teacher. Currently starting on getting Christmas presents made . This is going to be a button up for my cousin. Hope everyone‘s December is going well and nothing is too overwhelming!
I love that my polling place is at a Botanical Garden but I‘ve never been there at night before & I‘m gonna be honest... it totally feels like if you vote for the wrong candidate, a dinosaur will promptly pop out from behind some overgrown greenery & eat you.
Good thing I voted for all the right candidates! 😉🦖🇺🇸
Did anyone else see these awesome Travel Posters from The Great American Read #GAR books
Latest read. My son is obsessed with Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom so I figured it was time to read the book that started it all. I‘ve been in a real reading slump lately so I‘m hoping something like this is the cure for what ails me!
This was so much fun last week I decided to do it again! Hope you all enjoy & play along! 1) Broccoli Cheddar 🥦 2) Winnie the Pooh & Garfield I couldn‘t choose between the two. 3) Clue 🔎 4) I usually say fall. 5) ✅ this has been on my TBR list for basically my whole life!
