Keeping Faith
Keeping Faith | Jodi Picoult
One of America's most powerful and thought-provoking novelists, New York Times bestselling author Jodi Picoult brilliantly examines belief, miracles, and the complex core of family. When the marriage of Mariah White and her cheating husband, Colin, turns ugly and disintegrates, their seven-year-old daughter, Faith, is there to witness it all. In the aftermath of a rapid divorce, Mariah falls into a deep depression -- and suddenly Faith, a child with no religious background whatsoever, hears divine voices, starts reciting biblical passages, and develops stigmata. And when the miraculous healings begin, mother and daughter are thrust into the volatile center of controversy and into the heat of a custody battle -- trapped in a mad media circus that threatens what little stability the family has left.

This was an enjoyable read, but with some unlikeable characters. Didn't care for the obligatory romance. I felt that how Faith talked was too mature, did not fit her age at all. Ending was expected. Writing is good, subject is interesting.

This was a fun read that wasn‘t all roses, but still left some things unsettled and pushed an optimistic message.

While an interesting concept this definitely isn‘t a favorite Picoult story for me. I honestly couldn‘t stand the mother character and I couldn‘t see how the court case at the center of the story would have logically gone any other way (so no real surprises there). The ending was also very vague, which in this case was somewhat annoying. That being said it‘s still wonderfully written as all Picoult novels are and gave a lot to thing about. 🌟🌟🌟

I really liked this book. It was a Jodi P from the late 90s that I‘d never read and it had everything I like about her writing: controversial topics, in depth characters, believable dialogue, etc. A very fast and satisfying read!

Faith is a 7 yr old with no religious background but starts talking about “my guard”, spontaneously recites bits of the Bible, and develops stigmata wounds. Good story telling by this author, however I had major issues with continuity… @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks sent me this a couple years ago, Thanks Misty! 💛 My reading has slowed, but I‘m still working through my Alphabet Challenge using my shelves. 3/5⭐️s

Wife I think that someone with medical background should read a book containing medical issues before publication. The character in this book was intubated (on a ventilator) and then a couple pages later, she‘s taken to X-ray via wheelchair (No way!). A few pages later, she is intubated (although she‘s never improved and never been extubated). What!?!🤯 2y

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Wife I agree!! Her books are usually well researched! 2y

I enjoyed this book. I wouldn‘t say it was one of my favorites by Jodi Picoult, but I liked the story and the concept. I was hoping for an ending that had more of a resolution to it. I thought it was nice how it came together, but it still left me with a lot of questions in the end. Overall, I enjoyed it, but it wasn‘t my favorite book by her.

Rating: 4.5 ⭐'s
Review: The first 5 chapters were slow for me but after that the story picked and drew me in.

This book was about a 7 year old in the middle of a divorce and custody battle between her parents and people question why she has talks with God.

Always like Picoult‘s books. How did I miss this one? Faith is seven and after her mom and dad separate she begins talking to her guard who is thought to be God. Problem is that Faith is Jewish and begins reciting items from the Bible and also has stigmata. Makes you think about religion and how people react to others beliefs. Not my favorite Picoult book but I enjoyed the different topics. Why can‘t God talk to children?😏

Religion, autism, end of life choices, organ donation, medical ethics, sexual identity, school shootings and bullying, racism, teen suicide and many other topics that make us #think... Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors because of her diversity and the way she makes #think about these issues from all points of view... nothing is ever just black and white...

Loved the strong female characters, the fearless look at recovering from depression, and the truthful acknowledgement of how simultaneously difficult and rewarding it is to be a mother.
