This #chunkstermini took me all month to read, but it was worth it. Fatland visited such interesting places, and her description of Everest base camp is one of the best I‘ve ever read. I just wish she had tied her journey together or made some conclusions at the end because after a while it kind of seemed like Himalayan resident speed dating. Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Crazeedi Sounds like an interesting book! 3mo

This #chunkstermini has been hanging out on my shelves since it came out in the mid 1980s. It shows its age a bit, and by the last section the twists became ridiculous. But it was a fun soap opera of a book and I‘m glad I read it. My favorite character was the Duchess, and this is my image of her, except the facial expression isn‘t quite right. #bookspin for January and 1st #24in2024. @TheAromaofBooks @Jas16 @Amiable

Jas16 Glad it ended up being worth the wait! 3mo

It is a big book but I didn‘t feel it. It was a page turner for me. I liked the story, the characters, the plot and the twists. It also has beautiful illustrations. Ready for book 2 it is supposed to be an adult high fantasy but in some areas it has some YA elements?🤔 Maybe. But I enjoyed this one. I have two editions because I didn‘t want to destroy the special edition with my annotations. Not a book holder but a book collector
📚😌 4/4.3⭐️

TheSpineView Love the cover! 6mo

The Book of Cold Cases | Simone St. James

I read some fun books last week!! I really enjoyed all of these. Up to No Gouda was my least favorite of the batch - it was okay, but maybe it is just my suspicious mind talking - I had trouble discerning who was supposed to be “ominous“ and who was supposed to be a good guy 😂 She would say things like, “I met his gaze and felt a little uncomfortable. He had been coming in for lunch every day“ except then it turns out she's uncomfortable ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) because she thinks he's cute and nice and actually has a crush on him 😆 I don't usually read ghost/paranormal stories, but I really enjoyed The Book of Cold Cases which was paranormal without being horror. The Dead Romantics was also ghosty, and while I loved the romance, it was honestly just such a lovely book about grief and moving forward. Of course Roberts pretty much always delivers - The Collector wasn't a new favorite, but it was⬇ 6mo

After a false start at the beginning of the month I picked it up, started over and became enthralled. Part 7 dragged for me a bit but otherwise it‘s captivating. #ChunksterMini @Amiable #Booked23 #Featuring3Generations @BarbaraTheBibliophage @alisiakae @Cinfhen #SummerEndReadathon @TheSpineView #BuddyRead @Cuilin 4.5🌟

I loved this 🥰

Gabriel, the last silversaint, has been captured and forced to tell his story to the Historian of House Chastain.
An amazing vampire based story. I can‘t wait for the second book!

This was my June #BookSpin and my first read that hits the #ChunksterChallenge2023 challenge this year 😂

4½✨

This was just WOW!
Ally's story is gutwrenchingly beautiful.
It ripped-out my heart, stomped on it, then tenderly put it back together. This one drained me.
It is only the 2nd book in the series and I'm already seeing the greatness that awaits me.

I still have many questions... But also I still have many books to read.

Trying my best to avoid spoilers now that Atlas is out

Loved this new one from Abraham Verghese! Maybe even more than Cutting for Stone! A multigenerational saga of a family in India. I loved both the family and the side characters. It was well-worth it to spend awhile in their corner of the world. Highly recommend!
