Cinfhen Hilarious!!! Phyllis Diller, wow #BlastFromThePast 4mo
gradcat She was so funny...remember her husband “Fang”? 4mo

LiterRohde @gradcat He was in the second part of this quote. “Just the other day I said to Fang, ‘Don‘t you think we‘ve got a storybook romance?‘ and he said, ‘Yes, and every page is ripped.‘” 4mo
gradcat Omigod...too funny! You must be old, like me! 😂 4mo
LiterRohde @gradcat I suppose, if you, like my students, consider 42 old. (edited) 4mo
KarenUK Love this quote 😂💕... look forward to your posts every day.... 4mo
gradcat No! You‘re young! I was thinking Phyllis Diller was from soooo long ago, but perhaps I‘ve got her in the wrong decade in my mind! 😂 4mo
LiterRohde @gradcat She is from quite long ago. But she had a long career. From what I can see, it started in the 50‘s. I‘m pretty sure I‘m remembering her from the 80‘s and 90‘s in stuff like The Muppets, The Gong Show, and her stand-up. I‘m not really quite sure where I‘ve seen her, but I have. And she didn‘t die until 2012. Anyway, my comment about 42 being old was was tongue-in-cheek. I love seeing how my students think it‘s “so” old. So don‘t feel bad. 4mo
gradcat Oh, no, I didn‘t take any offense...I knew exactly what you meant. I taught high school, so I know where you‘re coming from. And you know what? I didn‘t even know she was in The Muppets or The Ging Show, because I rarely ever watched those shows. No, I remember her from (and this is going to let you know how old I am) Hollywood Squares & Laugh In + her appearances on the Johnny Carson show. 😂🤣😂 4mo
LiterRohde Yes! Hollywood Squares! That was a funny game show. I watch Carson in reruns, but I wasn‘t really watching The Tonight show until Leno. And I do watch Laugh-In reruns too, so I‘ve probably seen her there too. So, if not old, maybe an old soul? ‘Black and white movie‘ is not a dirty or unfamiliar phrase to me. Love Jimmy Stewart, Hitchcock, Twilight Zone, Perry Mason....😬 4mo
gradcat Omigod! Perry Mason...love it! And Twilight Zone, Hitchcock, Stewart, and on and on ... oh, Gregory Peck & Humphrey Bogart & Katharine Hepburn & Bette Davis....😂♥️ 4mo

#friyayintro @howjessreads #blastfromthepast

1) still Harry Potter
2) sweet coarse mustard
3) is being afraid of falling down stairs a real phobia? (I remember the "holes" phobia discussions)
4) just one brother, he's nearly 2 years younger than me

Nice idea!!

TheAromaofBooks I am also weird about potentially falling down stairs. Sometimes I just miss a stair for no real reason?? Maybe it's because I live in a one-story house, so I'm out of practice haha 5mo

tdrosebud I had this when I read young! It used to be my mom's. Pretty sure it fell apart at some point. 10mo
vivastory Sounds like a fun book! 10mo

I‘m so sorry my buddy readers but I read to the end! Icouldn‘t put this book down. This book deserves all the praises🙌🏻I love a story that spans several generations and decades yet feels intimate and personal. I can see why it remains a favorite for so many. Thanks for the group read, Steph💘#ThornBirds

Joyfulmimi I need to reread this book. I read and loved it ages ago. Did not want it to end. 2y

Mdargusch Finally we can all like the same book! 💕❤️💕❤️ @Cinfhen 2y
Cinfhen I did end up liking #GWTW @mdargusch it just took me a long time to get there....but this book grabbed me from the start @TrishB even though I had read it before I remembered very little. I thought it was “steamy” when I first read it but now not sooo much 😁 2y
emilyhaldi Finally.... Success!!! 🙌🏻 2y
Centique I‘ll have to stack this - I‘m a fan of a good multi generational epic too! (Thought I‘d read it but looking at the synopsis I don‘t think so) 2y
Cinfhen You are going to LOVE this book, Jo 😛😉 READ it @Centique even if u read it years ago, it‘s worth revisiting ❤️ 2y

SledgeReader You described some of my favorite qualities in a book. Thanks for walking me to the perfect words, @Cinfhen 2y
Cinfhen If you haven‘t read it yet @SledgeReader you have too!!! It definitely withstands the test of time. I‘ve also just read and LOVED 2y
SledgeReader @Cinfhen This was one of my first “adult” books growing up and I got to see the mini series on TV in real-time! Loved them both. Definitely should revisit an old friend 😉📖🍷Confession - it was about that same time in my reading journey that I got my hands on Princess Daisy. Very, very first and most beloved was Rebecca. Sigh. Good times. 2y

So...I'm sitting in the hospital waiting room and I finish my book so I decide to take a peek through the magazine's they always have laying around. I found gold!!! Holy crap this brings me back. Straight from the 90's! There were 3 of these on the table and yes...I shamelessly read them all...cover to cover! #waitingroomreads #blastfromthepast #noregrets 😍😍

jamie_in_the_library Yes!! This is amazing! I definitely read way too many Twists ☺️ 2y

I was #audiocleaning today and came across this reading wish list. Dated 2004. In the ensuing 14 years, I‘ve only read 10 of the 24 books listed. And that, my friends, is why I‘ll never finish my TBR.

#readingwishlist #blastfromthepast

Smangela Preach! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 2y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa And that my friend, is why Litsy is our tribe! 🤜🤛. But seriously, read Harry Potter already! 😂 2y
PenguinInFlight I don‘t think I would know what to do with myself if I finished my TBR, LOL. 2y

AmyG Harry Potter! I wish I could read it for the first time...again. 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yes, we are a tribe of the same stripes. I read the first HP a couple of years ago. It‘s cute but not really my jam. I‘m a #noYA reader. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 2y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage The first 2 or 3 are really YA, but the story gets older and more complex as they age through the school years. That in itself is so rare to see in writing. Characters who literally grow through the series, and their comprehension of the story going around them deepens as the grow up. 2y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage But hey, at least you tried it, that‘s at least a check off the to read list. 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @PenguinInFlight Haha. True. I‘d go to a bookstore or a library! 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I‘ve heard that ... it is unique! 2y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa But seriously, check it off, it‘s not on your to read list anymore.👍 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yeah, it‘s not on my TBR despite not having read every word. Good point! 2y
ForCuriosity I made one of those this year, I doubt I‘ll be able to finish them all as well 2y
merelybookish Fun to see what you was on your mind in 2004. I feel my TBR shifts. I just lose interest in reading some books/genres. Nevertheless, the TBR continues to grow. 🤷 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @merelybookish I agree. My reading taste has expanded, yet some of these are still favorites. I just rediscovered Sujata Massey—want to read her new one and catch up on the series I was reading in ‘04. 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Paintinthenight I think half the fun is the planning, even knowing I won‘t read it all. 2y
Andrew65 I really enjoyed 2y
Mdargusch Wow! I never made a list for Books until I started Litsy! 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Mdargusch I have this “suddenly blank mind” issue when I cross the threshold of grocery stores, bookstores, libraries, and Target. I get overwhelmed by the stimuli and my mind goes blank. Lists have been my solution for decades. 😎 2y
Mdargusch Good point. That‘s what I use Goodreads for. So I guess I just do electronic lists. 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Mdargusch This list was pre-GR. I use electronic lists now too! 2y

#blastfromthepast - Visiting my parents for the weekend and I was helping Mom clean some bookshelves, where I had the pleasure of finding some of my older books as well! Loved this Royal Diaries series when I was growing up! Did anyone else read these?

#nostalgia

King‘s work is still so relevant today. We need his wisdom and hopeful vision. We need to NOT enslave our minds.

Finally gave in to all the hype and read this book. It wasn't bad. It was actually pretty good...in a dark and twisty, macabre kind of way. Of course, being a parent of a teenage girl....I'm looking at high school just a bit differently now. 😑

I do have to say, though, that I'm ridiculously surprised with how everyone can listen to cassettes. My kids wouldn't know what to do with one. I mean, who still has a walkman? Lol #BlastfromthePast

MommyOfTwo I believe I still have one somewhere lol 2y
Bostonmomx2 Haha so true. I literally don‘t think o have a way. I just traded in my older car that still had one but the new one doesn‘t. I didn‘t even pick up on that I don‘t think. 2y
FantasyChick @MommyOfTwo I still have a stereo that has dual tape decks in it but I don't think I have cassettes anymore. My kids looked at the tape decks once and had no clue what they were for haha 2y
FantasyChick @Bostonmomx2 it actually drove me nuts through the whole book! Maybe it's a retro thing and cassettes will come back haha Also, I don't think he changed the batteries once during all those tapes... My walkman ate batteries like crazy....just saying lol 2y
Laurenspageturners I remember cassettes being really popular and there was so many ways to listen to them ... but thinking about it now, I own literally nothing that can play a cassette 😂 2y
