A soft pick, this one was fun but not particularly memorable. The MC works for a small publisher that focuses on serious, educational books, but is secretly writing a romance novel that she wants published. Through a series of events, someone else finds her manuscript and starts leaving editorial notes that actually are helpful, and soon she is working with her mystery editor. So instead of some checkmarks, I just thought I would post a pic of the pile of books read this week for my #BookReport 😂 I finished the Lunar Chronicles, including the two graphic novels and all the short stories in Stars Above - absolutely LOVED this series!! The Nora Roberts book included two novels she wrote in the early 80s that were pretty lame but checked off two years for #19822022 so there's that LOL The tagged book was fun but ⬇

This book is delightful and full of quotes like these. I‘ve thought this so many times when reading novels! 😄

I need a fun, light listen to offset the Hungarian revolution, 1960s Congo and the murder of the General Secretary of the UN, and a graphic novel on tyranny. I do this to myself. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

So if you dated someone for 8 years, broke up, and he was engaged to your younger sister within 3 months, and your parents told you to be supportive, you‘d be living our heroines life. The publisher she works for doesn‘t do “genre” and she wants to write romance novels. She‘s also kind of jaded about relationships right now. Predictable, but also sweet, fun, and hopeful. Enjoyable, lighthearted read overall with some self discovery and growth.

I am enjoying this book, such a nice read.

Borderline pan for me, but I know this will appeal to some readers so going to leave it as a so-so. The premise was cute (romance develops through editing notes in the margins of a manuscript) , but the execution just wasn‘t fully there. I don‘t believe the MC‘s age is ever given, but she seemed immature and unprofessional given her work position and life situation. The slow burn romance is not effective enough to make the ending satisfying.

Really loved this one! The humor, the secrets, the meet cute, are so adorable! Very wholesome, and love the flourishing feelings

I can‘t resist a book about books even though I‘m not going to love every story I get my hands on. This HEA ending was obvious up front but still fun to read the story unfold. One issue for me though was inconsequential filler characters superfluous to the story. ↓

I LOVED this. Start to finish, didn‘t want to put it down. All the warm fuzzy feelings alongside substance and originality. Lovable and believable characters. I also think the author had such clever ways of breaking the fourth wall! It‘s something I‘ve seen other authors try but she actually succeeded 😍

Cute closed door rom-com. You've Got Mail (One of my favorite movies) meets Attachments (Rainbow Rowell, one of my favorite authors) so this one was a sure bet, a great palate cleanser among heavier reading. Bonus points for having a book on the cover An Expand Your Horizons task ❣️

This isn't a revolutionary story - nothing ultra-special happens, but it's cute, delightful, romantic. Just Savannah seems like a doormat... Nevertheless the book is enjoyable well enough.

Finished this lovely book this weekend. It‘s a great story about an aspiring romance writer who edits for a strictly non-fiction small publishing house. The romance is light, but believable. My favorite part is the hidden room with all the bookshelves. I would love something like that!

Books 11-14 of the year.

I was sucked into this book. None of the things I needed to get done today were done. I lost track of time while reading. I had to keep reading to find out what happened next. I became emotionally invested in these characters. I don't know when it happened because when I started the book, I wasn't too sure about them. I didn't quite believe that they would work together. But, by the end, I was desperate to see them finally figure everything out.

I love romcoms. And Melissa Ferguson proves once again that she is a queen in this genre with her newest book. The author skillfully combines delightful banter and sweet enchanting romance through the written word with the chaotic, almost circus-like comic daily happenings at a small publishing company. It‘s truly a perfect romcom to curl up with on a cold, lazy Saturday morning.

In not-knowing land, there was still hope. There was still a chance that things would work out for me. In knowing land though -- if I step into the Land of the Know -- I'm going to know without question. And if the answer isn't what I want, I can't strap hope back onto my back for safe keeping. No, hope is for those who stay in the Land of the Not-Know.

This was the perfect light read I needed in between serious books. I was rooting for the main character right from the start, and she did not disappoint. This book just had so much I really like reading about: books; writing; and romance without too much drama manufactured for it.

I. Adored. This. Book. Oh my goodness, I smiled through all 300+ pages and was sad to have it end. Savannah works for a small publishing house (which is literally located in an old Victorian house) in Nashville and dreams of having her romance novel published. Will is the new VP of her division (from NYC) and happens to be the son of the CEO (who is dead set against mainstream titles, especially romance). The premise here involves a secret room,🔻

2.5 STARS - This book was a miss for me. Not enough romance (extremely clean romance), predictable and lackluster plot. It will appeal to other readers I'm sure, but it was a miss for me.

This was a cute, very slow burn romance. Savannah is an editor at a publishing house that absolutely does not deal with commercial fiction, so when her brand new publisher, William Pennington, sees the first page of her secret romance manuscript she's certain she's about to be fired. Instead she finds a secret editor at the company who helps her polish her manuscript in secret all while the two get closer together over their notes.

Cute! I was constantly worried something horribly contrived was going to throw a wrench into the budding relationship, but was very pleasantly surprised that didn‘t occur; we‘re there hiccups? Yes, but not in a Uber drama kind of way and that‘s why I so enjoyed this book.
