The Redeemer
The Redeemer | Don Bartlett, Jo Nesb๘
One freezing night in Oslo Christmas shoppers gather to listen to a Salvation Army street concert. An explosion cuts through the music, and a man in uniform falls to the ground, shot in the head at point-blank range.Harry Hole and his team have little to work with: no immediate suspect, no weapon and no motive. But when the assassin discovers he has shot the wrong man, Harry Hole's troubles have only just begun. After some exceptionally shrewd detective work, the team begins to close in on a suspected hit man, monitoring his credit card, false passport and the line to his employer. With no money, only six bullets and no place to stay in the bitter cold, the hit man becomes increasingly desperate. He will stop at nothing to eliminate his target. Moving at a breathless pace, The Redeemer is Jo Nesb๘'s most gripping thriller yet.

Another entertaining #nordic noir in the Harry Hole series by Jo Nesbo. I found myself worrying about Harry in this mystery so Nesbo has succeeded in totally drawing me in with his story. Love this series.

Reggie I stopped after the Snowman but they do get crazy!!! 7mo

I love these. They're really long for this genre but so worth it.

First book of 2019! The next solid installment in The Harry Hole, which also fulfills the #multiplePOV prompt for #pop19.

Inspector Hole is really growing on me, even when he makes morally ambiguous decisions. I‘ll definitely be finishing this series this year!

I‘m slowing down on my tagged #currentread, since deciding I want to count it for a #pop19 prompt in the New Year!

And why the hubby pic? He doesn‘t make an appearance here very often! As I sit & reflect during these quiet winter evenings, I am thankful he is my rock in life. This pic was taken on a big rock today while hiking at Crowder‘s Mountain ๐Ÿ”

After enjoying what is probably the last sunny day of 2018, I‘m ready for a weekend of reading!

#WinterWonderland Nothing says #WinterKills more than #NordicNoirโ„๏ธ๐ŸŽฉ๐Ÿงคโ˜ƒ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฃ๐Ÿงฃand the Inspector Harry Hole series certainly fits the bill. When shots ring out at a Salvation Army Christmas concert in Oslo, leaving one of the singers dead in the street, the trail will lead Harry Hole, Oslo‘s best investigator and worst civil servant, deep into the darkest corners of the city and, eventually, to Croatia.

Cinfhen You can try this series @Reviewsbylola ๐Ÿ˜˜ 1y

This was so good! Jo Nesbรธ never fails! Love how real his characters feel and the story is quite surprising at times. Only one thing annoyed me a lot (I'll add it to the comments under a spoiler tag if you want to know more).

Martta I'm annoyed how the main bad guy gets raped and there is absolutely no comment on it at all. He just moves on without addressing it at all. As if something like that could not affect a person! There was a female character in the book as well and she got raped when she was quite young. After decades she still suffers the consequences but the bad guy doesn't seem to even notice what happened to him!!!! So annoying! 1y

Wow, this assassin has a seriously hard time in Scandinavia! But that's what you get ending up in a Nordic noir novel from Norway. Next time he'll know better. You should not do crime in Oslo! That's Harry Hole's territory. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Another fine Harry Hole thriller, about a contract killer after his target and Harry has to stop him. A lot other elements are involved which derail the case. Also concludes some story elements from the last book. 8/10

I liked this one. Harry is on the trail of an assassin who has a job to do. Told through dual narratives of more than one cat and more than one mouse, it was hard to put down. There's so many layers to these Jo Nesbo books. And just when you think it's over, the epilogue slaps your brain around. Pretty good. I am super excited to read The Snowman next before for the movie's out. Then I plan on taking a break from Harry and Jo.......if I can.

minkyb Good luck with that! 2y
Reggie Lol @minkyb 75 pages in and The Snowman is pretty scary. Early prediction, the guy fixing the mold is the Killer, lol. Who knows!!! 2y

This might be my favorite one yet! Jo Nesbø knows how to craft complex, gritty, and likeable characters, as well as intense and intriguing crimes that will keep you reading into the night. The Redeemer has all of this. Harry's fast paced cat-and-mouse chase of the killer had me on the edge of my seat.

Started this one this week & I'm loving it!! I seriously can't put it down. Jo Nesbø crafts an amazing character in Harry Hole ???

DimeryRene How do you feel about the snowman? I saw the preview and immediately picked up the book. I liked it, but didn't love it. Is this one worth a read if I didn't love something else he wrote? 3y
booked4life @DimeryRene I actually haven't read The Snowman yet. I've been reading his books in order and that's the next one. I've heard they get better as the series goes on so if you didn't like that one I'm not sure how others would compare. However, I've enjoyed them! The Redbreast and The Redeemer have been my favorites so far! Although both are very complicated 3y
DimeryRene @booked4life people really seem to love him, so I'll give it another go! I didn't hate it! I think the preview for the movie just made it seem a little different than what it ended up being. I'm always up for trying again though. 3y

6th book in the series and it's a good one but I could tell there was some translation issues, no fault to the translator. I really felt at the end of the book that I missed something not necessarily content but sentiment. Onward to the Snowman โ›„๏ธโ˜ƒ
