Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Book 4)
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Book 4) | J.K. Rowling
In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry is midway through both his training as a wizard and his coming of age. He wants to get away from the malicious Dursleys and go to the Quidditch World Cup with Hermione, Ron, and the Weasleys. He wants to dream about his crush, Cho Chang (and maybe do more than dream). And now that hes gotten the hang of things at Hogwartshe hopeshe just wants to be a normal fourteen-year-old wizard. But even by his standards, Harry's year is anything but normal. First Dumbledore announces the revival of a grand competition that hasn't taken place for one hundred years: the Triwizard Tournament, where a Hogwarts champion will compete against rivals from two other schools of magic in three highly dangerous tasks. Then someone frames Harry to participate in the tournamentwhich really means someone wants him dead. Harry is guided through the competition by Professor Alastor Moody, this year's Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, but he must also contend with a nasty reporter named Rita Skeeter, who digs up some highly unflattering secrets about Hagrid; a terrible fight with Ron, who is deeply jealous of Harry's fame; Hermione's newfound activism on behalf of house-elves; and the terrifying prospect of asking a date to the Yule Ball. Worst of all, Lord Voldemort may finally have gathered the materials necessary for his rejuvenation... and he has a faithful servant at Hogwarts waiting only for a sign. No, nothing is ever normal for Harry Potter. And in his case, different can be deadly.

Book #3 of 2024 and the final book I think I‘ll finish in January.

This was a reread and is obviously a 7/7 as all the Harry Potter books will be.

Fun fact: this is 1 of 9 editions of the Goblet of fire that I own. I‘m slightly obsessed with Harry Potter 😬

I sure do, especially children's and middle school books. I like the innocence of these books and I really love coming-of-age stories.

With YA, I haven't been reading it as much. As I get older, I've been noticing that I don't have much patience for teenage angst, thus I've been staying away from YA.

AnnR I can relate to your answer. 🙂 Teenage angst in books doesn't interest me much anymore or it tests my patience. 6mo

We're out running errands, and Roger sees this in Petsmart. This was his exact first thought. He wasn't deterred when I told him Cedric was a Hufflepuff.

Find someone who keeps errands interesting. 🤣

Heading down nostalgia alley once again. Just can't seem to help myself. Just as an unput-down-able book as it always used to be.

Unsure of the artist.

This is my favorite of the series and it was so fun to listen to! The characters came alive in a way that was entirely different for me!! I stand by the opinion that these books are just as good in audio as they are in print!

I finished reading the 4th book of the Harry Potter series and I think my main takeaway was that the books are so incredibly different from the movies. I grew up watching the movies and they've become a huge comfort to me, but the books have so much more depth and personality, this book especially. Harry enters the most difficult period of his life starting In the book, and the intensity of the tasks in the tri-wizard tournament is so captivating.

Speculative fiction. This book follows Harry through his fourth year at Hogwarts. He gets entered into the Triwizard Tournament and is forced to compete against some of the best witches and wizards around. There is a perfect mix of danger and fun. And I will say it one more time Rowling does a terrific job of bring the reader into the story to where you feel like your along for the journey with the characters.

This is how far I got in this book 2 or 3 days ago but I haven‘t listened since then. I‘m about 63% of the way into the audiobook. I‘m enjoying the book and I want to get back to listening to it. I haven‘t listened in awhile because I felt like I needed to take a break from reading for a few days. I will finish this book but I will finish at my own pace even if it takes me awhile.

Tonight, I listened to more of the book I‘m currently reading while playing Word Villas on my phone. I‘m having so much fun playing this game. It‘s a word game but it also has home renovation. In order for me to continue renovating this house, I have to spell out words. The character that I‘m playing in this game wants to turn her old house into a Bed & Breakfast.

This book, the fourth in the Harry Potter series, takes the series into a much darker realm. The stakes are higher, and the consequences are much more severe. Harry is unwillingly chosen to compete in the dangerous Tri-Wizard Tournament. The end of this tournament results in what every wizard dreads.

I loved this book! This book gets a bit darker, so definitely be cautious to the grade group of kids you read it to. Overall, good material and shows a common theme of friendship!

One of my favorites of the series. Rowling does a great job at writing progressively darker books as the series goes on. This is the pivotal book where the series takes a darker turn, but there is still plenty of lighthearted moments, like the awkward teenage social interaction. It's also the first book where we start to get some of the more significant backstory. I particularly like that we get to see characters outside of Hogwarts.
