I finished by book club book for the month. I loved this book and read it In a few days! I would definitely recommend it.

Nails check. Cat on lap check. Book , Lore on lap check. Haven‘t been on in a while but I‘ve been reading. This book is so good. I just get into so many that I need to finish this . I‘ll get there. #nailnight #siamesecats #lore #alexandrabracken #sundaynightreading
I loved this book! So many plot twists, with clever foreshadowing that I can see when I look back. Amazing, dynamic characters. Lessons on fate and forgiveness. Just amazing all around.
Not only did I manage a #BookSpinBingo this month but I also managed to get my #BookSpin for January read — Lore! This was a great Greek mythology read that had been on my #TBR for awhile. I enjoyed the relationships surrounding Lore herself and how the story unfolded.
It's #roll100 time!
I'm looking forward to Lore so I can't wait to get that pick crossed off. I've been reading The Borden Murders off and on for about two years now so I either finish it this month or to the donation bin it goes! I have a feeling it's going to be unhauled either way, to be honest #ItsTime
@PuddleJumper
I'm giving this a pick, but kind of a lukewarm one... I enjoyed it, but never felt a real emotional connection to the characters. I did like the narrator of the audiobook though. It wasn't bad, but I had hoped for more...
I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I did feel compelled to read it, I wanted to know how it ended but I can't say that I'd read another by this author. It took a little while to get into it and then I saw the twists coming, it could also easily be shorter and cut out a lot that slowed it up . Entertaining enough to be worth finishing but that's as far as I'd go.
Alexandra Bracken is an amazing writer. No doubt about that. This book is written beautifully! And the concept is great! The problem I had was pacing and feeling any connection to these characters. I also had a strangely hard time to read into it, despite liking it at first. So in the end, I couldn‘t keep my head in it and decided to abandon it.
This is another one where I'm calling it a pick, but by a narrow margin. It almost lost me once, but I pushed on and enjoyed it overall. I think I just had some difficulty relating to the main character at times. Still, the plot was certainly interesting and threw me for a loop once or twice.
The holidays mean both more travel, as pictured, and less time to read, unfortunately.
However, I did start reading Lore by Alexandra Bracken and it seems interesting thus far. I'm just hoping I'll have a bit more time to read it this week.
This was a super fun audiobook, and I have no regrets about squeezing it in between my planned books this month.
Why I loved it:
-That cover!
-MC Lore is a badass and not annoying about it.
-Greek mythology successfully made modern urban fantasy.
-Action-packed, violent, twisty, and sexy.
-YA that didn‘t make my eyes roll.
-A great, diverse cast of characters.
-Excellent narration.
-Again, that cover!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Wow that sounds like a great book but maybe I should wait until it comes out in paperback to save some money.” - me, two weeks before I caved and bought it anyway. Of course I picked another Greek myth book! I enjoyed the storyline, the discussion of gender inequality in myth, and a more diverse cast of characters than I expected. I feel like the idea behind the novel could have led to a series, but I also think it‘s best this is a standalone.
I don‘t normally do this but I am just getting a little past the half way mark reading this and I am #hooked and don‘t want it to end. #Lore is ok #bad@as woman. Trust me and #read this ASAP!!!! #alexandrabracken has a way with words and her writing is spectacular. #LitsyLove
Y‘all I‘m giving this a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating. It was slow to start, and could seriously be 90-100 pages shorter. Lore is an interesting character and I‘m a sucker for Greek mythological elements but this one just didn‘t fully deliver like I wanted it to.
Got my hurricane books ready! We are where that dot is located. Here we go! 🙏
This one took me a bit to get into but switching to audio helped. In the end I did enjoy it. It's a very unique spin on Greek mythology in the modern world. It's also super action-packed. The hardest part was keeping straight all the names of the gods and houses of descendants.
This book is full of action, twists and turn, quite enjoyable. Although important to establish the "Lore", I felt the book was a little long. The characters were not fleshed out, could not really connect to any but would still suggest to go for it.It has enough action and a good story to keep you interested. If you love Greek mythology, do try this one out!!
This book is fantastic! In the beginning, I felt like I had already heard the story (which I probably have) but then this Greek mythological story took on another ending altogether lol. I love the characters! All of them. I wondered if it was going to be a series but I'm sure that it isn't now. I think it would make a very good movie. I give it 5/5🍪
Picked up this beauty a few weeks back with Penelope and Ashley. We managed to see an escaped pet hamster get captured. Never a dull moment with those two around.
I really enjoyed this take on the Greek gods and goddesses. I didn‘t want to stop reading which to me means it was a good book. 😆 #bookspinbingo
Ok. I get why this is a so-so for some (it could have been 100 pages shorter tbh) but it was definitely a pick for me! 🐍🛡
IMO, this book is totally underrated!
Gritty, violent, action packed, main character is a raged fueled badass, ATHENA, bloodlines of ancient Hero‘s warring over the power of Gods, new and old, all set in a modern NYC setting.. I mean.. come on!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 loved it!
[June #bookspin]
Ok so I‘m only about 40% into LORE, my June #bookspin pick. I‘ve had a busy month and didn‘t get much reading done BUT I am starting to really get into the story now and I‘m hoping I‘ll finish it in the next couple days.
My doublebookspin ended up being a DNF and I did not make a bingo (I used up all the FREE spaces tho) lol pathetic🤦🏻♀️ I have a feeling July will be better tho
This had all the ingredients of being a cracking read: classical mythology (which I love), action, and only a sprinkling of romance, but the finished book is somehow less than the sum of its parts. Saying that, it wasn't a bad read and there was quite a lot to enjoy, I can't quite put my finger on why it didn't work as well as it should have, there was just something vital missing for me. 3⭐

This was close to a pick. It's full of violence, revenge, secrets, and action. Lore made a great main character, but some of the other characters felt too one-dimensional.
I loved that this explored the darker sides of Greek Mythology though.
I‘m so excited for my #Bookspin picks! 💚✨💕
and Cerulean Sea is going to Double as my Pride pick🏳️🌈 #Doublespin
A great start to summer reading: light, fun, Greek mythology, friendship and rites of passage.
I really enjoyed the writing style in this one. It's a bit gory for my taste, but I liked the concept. Zeus punishes the other big 8 gods by making them go through basically being hunted every 7 years. The hunters that manage to kill the gods get their powers. Lore is the last descendant of Poseidon. Athena shows up half-dead on her doorstep, forcing her back into a world she ran away from.
I had really high expectations for this one. I LOVE retellings of Greek mythology. It was good, but not great. Very slow until the halfway point of the book. However, I loved how the downright awfulness/ inhuman emotions and character of the gods was explored. Id call this story New Adult ⚠️Pedophilia, detailed violence done to Men, women, and children, gore. ⚠️
DFW area is in the middle of a tornado and has been under warning since 8. Lots of hail and wind as well. Reading with the pup in order to stay awake.
As a Greek mythology nerd, I had high hopes for Lore, described as Greek Mythology meets "Hunger Games." Every seven years, nine banished Olympians are hunted by mortals, raised to kill these gods and absorb their immortality and other powers. Even though the premise was exciting, the story didn't live up to the hype. Hence, I didn't enjoy this book as much as I hoped for a nearly 500-page read.
Today is this cover I personally don‘t like but I heard good things about this one. I love the idea of Greek mythology competition style book so I have it and want to read it soon!
I‘m trying to reacquaint myself with my TBR while on a book buying ban for the month.

I loved this! I had quite high expectations, as i had known about it for a long time - Alexandra brackens email newsletter is amazing and she was really generous with her writing progress and process on this book. I was thrilled to love it, it‘s a harrowing story in a lot of ways but so gripping and I just adore lore, castor and miles. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved the concept. I really enjoy Greek mythology inspired books like this one. The entire plot was really well executed and tightly put together. I didn‘t find I lagged at all while reading either, so it was really well paced for me. Character wise, I really liked all the characters and found the protagonist super relatable, which I wasn‘t expecting. Although Athena really was an amazing character
I enjoyed this book...it took me a bit to get into, but overall, it was good. I found there were times where I felt like I was expected to know things without explanation (I am not a Greek mythology buff), which I don‘t love that feeling...she was slow to fill you in on information sometimes. With that being said, this was an enjoyable read!
This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, and honestly it fell a little flat for me. I‘ve been obsessed with Greek mythology and stories since forever, so I was really hoping this would be a new favourite. It was a fun read overall, and even though I didn‘t love it, I would definitely recommend it.
