The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany
The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany | Lori Nelson Spielman
A trio of second-born daughters set out to break the family curse that says they'll never find love on a whirlwind journey through the lush Italian countryside by New York Times bestseller Lori Nelson Spielman, author of The Life List. Since the day Filomena Fontana cast a curse upon her sister more than two hundred years ago, not one second-born Fontana daughter has found lasting love. Some, like second-born Emilia, the happily-single baker at her grandfather's Brooklyn deli, claim it's an odd coincidence. Others, like her sexy, desperate-for-love cousin Lucy, insist it's a true hex. But both are bewildered when their great-aunt calls with an astounding proposition: If they accompany her to her homeland of Italy, Aunt Poppy vows she'll meet the love of her life on the steps of the Ravello Cathedral on her eightieth birthday, and break the Fontana Second-Daughter Curse once and for all. Against the backdrop of wandering Venetian canals, rolling Tuscan fields, and enchanting Amalfi Coast villages, romance blooms, destinies are found, and family secrets are unearthed--secrets that could threaten the family far more than a centuries-old curse.

Emilia is one of the many cursed, second-born daughters of the Fontana Family who are said will never be able to find love.

Emilia took this seriously because for generations that seems to be what has happened.

A heartfelt, extraordinary read that makes you realize it‘s never too late to follow your dreams.

And...if you like secrets, there is a huge family one that gets uncovered.

I loved the descriptions of scenery and food in this. I loved Poppy* and wish I had a bunch of people just like her in my life. I loved that Emilia and Lucy found ways to break free from the lives they had been boxed into, thereby breaking their "curses." I love the way it ended. (*I did think Poppy was TOO forgiving towards her sister but it fit with her character.)

Now, working on finishing Rock Paper Scissors, which I had started and stopped earlier this month because of the library due date.

I loved this book! It's sweet and lovely. It takes you on a vacation through Italy and had a family curse mystery to solve and a love story or two. Highly recommend!!

Super behind on reviews.

I‘m not sure if I actually liked this book. The cousins really annoyed me in the beginning. They were so ungrateful for a free trip to Italy. That rubbed me the wrong way. I don‘t know if I didn‘t understand because I‘m not super close to my family, but I would go to Italy and not stress about pissing off my grandma. Like, it‘s a vacation. Poppy‘s story was heartbreaking and not sure how she remained so positive.

This was definitely a cute story. It was a bit romantic, a bit mysterious and a bit suspenseful. I think my favorite parts were where the various cities and towns of Italy were described in detail. Visiting Italy is on my bucket list. There was a bit of a twist at the end that I didn‘t see coming.

When I saw this was a #botm book a few months ago I thought eh, I don‘t want it. I was looking through Libby and decided to pick it up as an audiobook and I fell in love with this book. It was so beautiful. I didn‘t want the story to end. It was heartbreaking with self-discovery and just great. I totally recommend this book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Light and enjoyable read. This was a sweet story, sprinkled with magical words of wisdom and love. I adored watching Emilia come out of her shell and become the true wild woman that all of us ladies have inside! Poppy‘s love story is beautiful! I could have read a book that featured her story alone. I recommend! Great read for summer! #botm

⭐⭐⭐
This was a fun, sweet story spanning multiple generations in the Fontana family across both Italy and America. Some of the plot points and the characterization was a little beyond the point of believability, but as a rom-com style novel it worked. The descriptions across Italy were beautiful. 🇮🇹

LoverOfLearning I really enjoyed this one! I was desperate for a light-hearted and summer time feel read! This one gave me everything I was looking for. 3y

Oh my goodness, this book. I'm not a big romance reader. And this isn't exactly a romance. There's a love story or two, but it's a lot more. It's just so, so good.

This was one of my first #botm books, and it's definitely my favorite of all the ones (12) I've read so far.

🌟🌟🌟🌟 (4.5 / 5) stars!

I had a love hate relationship with these characters. Aunt Poppy is so so beautiful. She is full of love, strength, and everlasting hope. I want to know her in real life ❤😭

Emilia... wheww drove me nuts at first! But I came to love her at the end. The storyline of her character was wow! So much depth and growth there!

Such a heartbreaking yet heartfelt story with a satisfying ending everything we want in a romance ❤

Thank the gods for being comfortable in my 30s and not being in a too tight outfit, drinking beer I don‘t even like while being around more strangers than friends in a bar or party. This book was perfect! I absolutely loved the romance of Rico and Poppy and was wrapped up in their world the entire time. The descriptions of Italy were beautiful. Plus the authors note that this story was based on a real couple when one was free in Italy while the other was trapped behind the Iron Curtain of Germany makes it all the more heartbreaking and hopeful at the same time. One of the best love stories I've read in a long time. #mustread
