Today I was able to repot a few pepper plants and nasturtiums. My hollyhocks came back super tall this year. Also pictured is the new tank top I ordered from Roots and Refuge on YouTube. I also rode my stationary bicycle for ten minutes.

This book was a rollercoaster ride of kookiness! It‘s written primarily in the form of emails, legal documents and letters which keeps it moving very quickly and constantly changing. It follows Bernadette, former architect and current outcast, as she navigates life in Seattle dealing with aggressive neighbors and private school moms before disappearing into thin air.

jb72 I‘m currently reading this book. I‘m about halfway through it. So far so good. 1w

Another slow week for me. I have met my book goal (6/6).
My exercise was off this week. I did meditate one day and light gardening 2 other days and one day of hard gardening. I need to work on that bit for sure.

TheSpineView Don't let a slow week get to you. We all have them! Just keep moving forward! 1w
jb72 @TheSpineView Thanks for the encouragement! I really appreciate it. It‘s helpful to have others cheering you on. 1w

Highly recommend. A story of a young family struggling with life. A career woman searching for fulfillment after failure, disappears . This was told in an interesting way. Loved the characters.

My locally owned bookstore is having a summer reading challenge for grownups. I‘m going to try to read as many as I can even though you only need to do one row. These are my first 2 done:
A book adapted into a movie you haven‘t watched or read before ✔️
Graphic Novel not published by DC, Marvel, or Vertigo ✔️

The trailer had caught me in an itchy curiosity, n then i‘d ended up @ the library grabbing a haul of GN for GNAB prep, and I thought, why not? If it‘s being added to this many book clubs, there‘s gotta be a reason!

Oh boy, was there! I am swelling with awe at how fun, well written and captivating this was! Books written in correspondence are hard! Keeping this many characters stay in line?? I mean shit as a reader and a writer i am in love!

Bernadette, you are quirky, witty, loving, and weird. I must say, I loved every page of this book. It is satire at its finest - a commentary on the wealthy, the “worldly”, the self-delusional, the tech obsessed, the mommy gossipers, and the spiritually empty. But at its heart, it is a story about a mother and a daughter who love each other fiercely and go to the ends of the earth for one another - literally, they go to Antarctica. Highly recommend

I should‘ve just waited for the movie......With the good built-up in earlier chapters, I‘m rather disappointed with the ending (flat and no climax). But the part whining about Seattle (and even bits of Canada) is quite resonated! 😂

Loved it. Little snippets reveal the lives of an extremely quirky and successful family. The book went fast and I learned quite a bit of new information. I cannot imagine how much research went into this well thought out novel! If you like a quick read from different view points, here‘s your next adventure.

Reading won out over inflight entertainment this time and I read this book from beginning to end. Absolutely loved the first 80%. Agnostic to the next 10% and hated the last 10%. Really, by the end I didn‘t care where Bernadette went. With that said - the first portion was so good (laugh out loud funny good) this one still gets a pick from me.

I went to a local indie bookstore (Rebel Heart Books) and asked the woman behind the counter what book she had read recently that she really enjoyed. I bought the tagged book on her recommendation and I enjoyed it, too!

It's quirky and the format is very unique. It worked for me. I wasn't able to predict what would happen next and it kept me engaged and laughing.

PS - I still can't believe this is my backyard. Southern Oregon is not too shabby!
