Probably the last Colleen hoover book I‘ll read. It was good. But I REALLY don‘t agree with the hype.
This was a much better offering from CH. There are still parts of her writing style that I don't like. She doesn't trust her readers to follow the story and over describes details that don't matter to the plot. That being said, my goodness was there suspense built throughout the whole story. I actually felt creeped out, which rarely happens. Good going seeing as this is more thriller than horror. Read if you want to get your pulse racing!
“I wasn‘t heroic. I wasn‘t simple. I was difficult. An emotionally challenging puzzle he wasn‘t up for solving.”

Colleen Hoover has become quite popular lately, and I wanted to see why. She seems to mostly write romance, which doesn‘t interest me, but I saw this one described as a mystery/thriller. It is propulsive and engaging, but the characters are thinly drawn. I enjoyed the reading experience, but I found it unsatisfying. I understand her appeal, but I am not in a hurry to read more from her.
A coworker let me borrow this after she read it with her IRL book club. It was really good!

This is by far, the most disturbing book I have ever read. Even Katie 🐈 is shocked.
HOWEVER, this book started out with a bang and never slowed down.
Really really good. But also, wtf did I just read??

I read this book on my mobile because I had downloaded it. I honestly regret it because, now that I ended it, I just wanna have it in my hands.
This story was insane. When I wasn't reading this book all I could think about was what could happen next.
Now that I finished it I don't know what is the real story: the one that was written in the manuscript or the one in the letter?
★★★★★
This was a fast and easy read 👍🏽 I know this novel has received rave reviews, but for some reason I didn‘t enjoy all the twists and turns that made up the ending. It felt abrupt and messy without any real shock value.
Wow what am intensely dark book . Picked this one up to see if it was worth the hype and wow just wow . Very quick read. 5 start read for my first Colleen hoover book now to hunt down more of her work 🥰
Caved in and got a Colleen Hoover novel. I want to see what all the fuss is about
Creepy psychological suspense. I read it in two sittings. The autobiographical section written by Verity might be too disturbing for some.
Ummmmm what in the devil did I just finish reading?!? I'm not even sure how to take the last few chapters. My book has tags and annotations all through it. I don't even know if I can give a proper review except to say that it was a good book but it definitely messed with my mind. It was definitely a book that fucks with your mind. If that's the kind of stiff you enjoy you should pick the book up!
Annotating my copy of Verity and I'm not even halfway through yet so it's making me wonder how many tags I'm gonna have when done
Wow!! I put this book off for so long, because I just knew that I would be disappointed. Seeing all the hype for this on social media messed with my mind. I am glad I gave in. This book was creepy in all the right ways. #TheHypeWasNotWrong #WhatHappened
Oops - forgot to include this on my #bookreport. I only finished it last night so maybe that shows how memorable it was. 😬 Actually, I quite liked it. Never having read this author before I was unsure what to expect. It started off quite fluffy and then turned very dark, very quickly. (TW - child cruelty)
I don‘t do social media so no TikTok but the author‘s name appeared when I did a search so I‘m using this for #pop22 #abooktokrecommendation
Today's book haul. Some are for me, some will be put away as Christmas gifts. #BookHaul #ChristmasShoppingIsAllYearLong
I throughly enjoyed this easy read fast 💨 paced thriller ; perfect for a busy period in your life because it takes no time to read and the pages fly . Iv had a busy Easter and not much of a chance to read so this pick was perfect ! It‘s had mixed reviews , but a book Tok fav and I really enjoyed it - not quite a 5star for me but not far off . Some of the parts did make me jump and I wondered who the real baddie was. Highly recommended 👍
Wow
Confused with the letter at end of what to believe but book was great

A solid book…until the end. Lowen, a struggling writer, is hired to complete the remaining books in a series written by the famous Verity Crawford. Verity has been in an accident, so Lowen moves into her home to sort through years of notes. However, she quickly learns Verity is not who she seems. This book is creepy, captivating, and disturbing, but when it finally came time for the big reveal/twist, I kept thinking “Really? This?”
Ready to chill out. My little tea pot in with herbel tea lemon one and in cup is one not had before. @5feet.of.fury ready to read - what you reading at mo ?
Wow already page 1 can tell be interesting!!
The man was in front of me a matter of seconds ago.
We were standing in a crowd of people waiting for the
crosswalk light to illuminate when he stepped into the
street prematurely, resulting in a run-in with a truck. I
lunged forward in an attempt to stop him-grasping at
nothing as he went down. I closed my eyes before his head
went under the tire, but I heard it pop like the cork of a
champagne bottle.
Lets see what all the hype is about. Paperback chose thanks for reply. And all devices at the ready for my kindle book that eldest teen chose. I have 3 kindles all used different times one work on break take it everywhere. Oasis depending on mood between fire and oasis at night as like reading on word runner mode on my fire. If want slower or book feeling pace then I use my oasis if makes sense
16/52: Verity
When I say this book broke me, it broke me. I was not emotionally ready for the ending 🥲. (I will always side w/ Jeremy & Lowen). Anyways, per usual i love Colleen Hoover‘s work and this book did not disappoint.
I‘ve been procrastinating a lot on reading lately but I got pulled out of readers block now so hopefully more frequent posts :-):-)

Ready to go for April‘s #BookSpinBingo! @TheAromaofBooks
A seriously twisted psychological thriller with notes of Jane Eyre and Rebecca. Despite those being two of my favorite books, this one proved a little too dark for me. A young novelist is hired to finish a series by famous author who is injured in a car crash. When she arrives at the author‘s home things get complicated. I read it in a day and was definitely sucked in, but didn‘t love it.
Started this morning the way its‘ going maybe finished by this evening.🤗
I really enjoyed the fast paced writing style, there's something about it I can't quite place that makes it seem ominously suspicious. The suspense began from page one and I was immediately hooked. The overall plot was intense, unpredictable, dark and surprisingly spicy. And I enjoyed every page of it. I had no clue what was going to happen, yet I had predictions which did happen. That ending. I'm so messed up from it. I kind of love and hate it.
Talk about a suspenseful fast paced book!!! I can‘t put this 1 down. Started this yesterday and I‘ll probably get down with it today.I‘ve never gotten the creeps from reading a book and I did halfway through this. This is my 1st Colleen Hoover book and I can‘t wait to read another 👍🏻👍🏻 #colleenhoover #verity #thrillerreading #readingatwork #breaktimereading
Since first stumbling across Hoover‘s books, I quickly added her books to my TBR and have since been parceling them out to myself to savor. I actually got this one confused with LAYLA at first but when I realized that I hadn‘t read this one and I quickly rectified that! I couldn‘t stop listening to this dark tale. Lowen becomes the titular character‘s ghostwriter and along the way stumbles on an unsettling manuscript… chilling and thrilling!
