Audio listening at work. Getting exciting now!! ⚔️
More twists, more turns, and one more book in the series to go! One queen won the battle but definitely not the war - undead queens, living earth, curses, and a rebel army comes for Katharine. I‘m happy this book revolves around bonds among girls, and while there are some love aspects there, the boys don‘t make/break/define/confuse the girls. The women are strong and with a good sense of self that all young girls need.
“A queen on the throne, two on their way home, and an unexpected renegade who‘s gone to ground...the crown has been won, but these queens are far from done.”
With the fury of the dead queens beneath her skin, Katherine‘s time has come to take the throne and role. But there trouble lays ahead when bodies mysteriously begin to wash ashore, throwing the island into a panic.
Holy “Game of Thrones”! Uh....the “dark” theme in each of the titles of this series isn‘t a “safe” dark. This book (and series) will kill you Game of Thrones style. YA my butt. Yet, I can‘t wait for the final book in September because, clearly, I‘m a glutton for punishment.
Up next for audio!!
Katharine is now Queen Crowned & ruler of Fennbirn, whilst her sisters Mirabella & Arsinoe are in hiding. Meanwhile Jules is learning of the prophecy about her Legion Cursed gifts which may make her more than a match for Katharine.
At last, this book is more along the lines of what I expected from the first two. Less focus on romance & more on the struggle for power. 4🌟
I thought it was just okay. As the third book in the quartet, I expected things to really come to a head in this one but it really didn't live up to my expectations. There wasn't much action and following Jules and Emilia took away from the queens. Still, the ending kept me hooked. I'll definitely be reading Five Dark Fates as soon as I can get my hands on a copy.
I started this series because of my library's book club and it's kind of weird because I love the series but don't like the books individually 🤔 After each book is done I think I didn't like that, then I can't wait to read the next 🙄
I was going to try to space these books out because the 4th one is coming out this fall but that didn‘t work 😂 I typically try to read series after they are finished or almost finished but I just couldn‘t help myself 🤷🏻♀️ I felt this book was slightly slower paced and didn‘t quite keep my attention as well as the others in the series but I still loved it 😊
Okay! I thought this was the last book but I was mistaken. One more to go! Who will reign? That is the question. Will Arsinoe Kill Mirabella? Will Katherine survive? What about Jules? Can she ever be herself again? To be continued...
Like the first 2, this is quite mediocre for me but I don't know if I'm being unfair, as this is written for young people after all. I'm reading on because I enjoy the premise of the story and I'd like to see how it ends. I just find the chapters too short and the writing structure a bit tame.
Still enjoying this series. This book was a bit less engaging than the last...oddly the second book in the series remains my favorite. Still, the world these queens inhabit is fascinating and many of the characters are interesting. I am not a huge fan of Jules or Emilia so I‘m not loving their story but I‘m hoping for a satisfactory resolution in the 4th book. I wish there was more character development of Mirabella; she seems neglected. #queens
I went out on my lunch break to a #detroitpubliclibrary branch and there was a full-on line of folks outside waiting for it to open. Not too much else could make me happier; it reminded me that "a library is a cross between an emergency exit, a life raft and a festival. They are cathedrals of the mind; hospitals of the soul...they are the only sheltered public spaces where you are not a consumer, but a citizen, instead." #currentlyreading
Catching up with #adventrecommends by @emilyrose_x - these are the first four books I have chosen. I've given myself a rule that I must have read it this year, so that my go-to favourites (eg harry potter) aren't included. Tagged book is for today.
FINALLY finished this one! It‘s taken me ages because I have had so little time to read print books, but I really enjoyed it! It got super crazy and intense there at the end, and now I‘m chomping at the bit for the final installment, which, of course, is ages away. Such is the reading life.
So dark...so mystical...so can‘t wait for the next one! I really enjoy this series, this one in particular I feel that she put an extra dark twist on it. Some very grotesque imagery here and I love it. I‘m very sad though because I was really hoping for an ending here but it just means we have one more to go. Just another long wait for the next release....I can‘t wait! 👌❤️🎉
This book was a bit slower than the first two books and took me much, much longer to get in to. In the end I felt like it was mostly leading up to whatever events will happen in the final book in the series.
I'm still looking forward to the final book to see where this is all going!
I open this book and the first thing I see is this map! Why did know tell me about this before? Y‘all I need people to tell me about the unknown maps that are living within the books on my shelves!

Which should I read next? I finished Tear me Apart. Just ok for me. Now I‘m not sure what I‘m in the mood for. . .🤔🤔
TWO DARK REIGNS is packed with major adjustments, realizations, and historical secrets, all layered together in such a way that I was always eager to read (/listen) on--at least at first. Near the end, my attention wavered as the layers converged and the pace faltered in a way I can't quite pinpoint but I definitely felt. Sadness.
Production-wise, narrator Amy Landon has improved her contraction-free dialogue delivery and her Old Person Voice. 👍
I thrifted some fancy-dancy Knit Picks yarn a couple weeks back and I've set out to make my very first pair of socks. The toe went really well, so fingers crossed I manage to turn the heel.
Between today's #audioknitting and a bunch of stuff I did yesterday, I'm already two thirds of the way through this great book. It feels good to listen to something relatively short after CUTTING FOR STONE!
My Three Dark Crowns familiar would be a coyote. What's yours? http://www.epicreads.com/blog/three-dark-crowns-familiar/
Now I just feel like I‘m being led on!! There‘s going to be another book?!? Bah!!!
Frustration aside...there‘s so much going on in this series...I feel as though that my final feelings for the book can‘t be established until I read the conclusion. So many things to tie up!
I love the slow burn of this fantasy series. It reads different from any YA fantasy novels I have ever read. I love that the "love triangle" is the relationships between the three sisters. And what a cliff hanger.
