Possibly better than the first time I read it. Now, onto the sequel.

Putting a pin in the other book I‘m reading for now. The release of the sequel to “The Handmaid‘s Tale” snuck up on me. I wanted to do a re-read (I never re-read books but I read this when I was 14. I need a refresher) before I start “The Testaments.” About to get my Gilead on.

Side Note: this book had quite the reading and feminist impact on me. It made dystopian novels my favorite and it made me wanna fight like hell to not end up in a Gilead.

Absolutely excellent. I read Blake‘s “Anna Dressed in Blood” and didn‘t care for it. My expectations for this book were low. It was terrific. Hats off to Ms. Blake. I highly recommend this book.

I‘m popping over to buy the next installment from the Kindle store.

“Lolita” is one of my all time favorite books. I had zero idea until I picked this book up a couple weeks ago, that “Lolita” was based on a true story. “Rust & Stardust” is a fictionalized version of the real life events. Starting this now!

I have anxiety issues that are generally under control. But some life stuff is happening so my anxiety is up. I was reading “The Darkest Minds” but that‘s too stressful right now, so I‘m going to give this a try.

Megabooks Completely understandable! My book has to match my anxiety level, too! 13mo

Change of reading plans. After @JessReads told me that there‘s still another book coming in the Ember in the Ashes series, I decided to hold off on the 3rd book. I don‘t want any cliffhangers that I can‘t immediately start reading the next installment. So up next, The Darkest Minds. I need to prep myself to hate the movie 🤣😂

Slajaunie It is a good book. I have not read the last one in the series as of yet, though. 13mo
JessReads Hah I didn‘t mean to screw up your reading plans! (But to be honest, that‘s why I haven‘t started the series yet, too...) 13mo

JessReads Did you know it‘s actually going to be a five book series? I‘ve heard nothing but good things about this one! 13mo
KellyHerself @JessReads that‘s so weird. Everything I‘ve read about the books called it a trilogy! 13mo
JessReads It was supposed to be 2 books, but then she signed on to make it a quartet. (I thought it was supposed to be 5, but it looks like her new deal bumped it from 2 to 4 instead of from 3 to 5.) 13mo

This ended up being excellent. I was unsure if it was going to be good until around page 100. Laia was kinda whiny and unlikeable in the beginning. But the story and Laia both got much better.

Recommend.

This was good. Very solid, beachy, chick lit-y read. It had a bit of an interesting narrative construct. I enjoyed that. Last half of the book moved much quicker than the first half. I can't say I'd beat anyone's door down to read this one, but it was a nice little change of pace from all the Sarah J. Maas I've been reading.
