The cover of this book is absolutely beautiful. The story itself is really quite lovely. I love how different it is to other books. The storyline is really really interesting and I really started to love Leora. I‘ll be ordering the other two books as soon as I can. Lovely story.

Just picked this up off my TBR pile. How absolutely beautiful is that cover? So stunning! I‘m excited to start this tonight! ❤️❤️

1/5⭐ The little worldbuilding completely fell apart in the end. The characters' actions/motivations made no sense, & I wondered WTF was happening. So many characters did illegal things, but not only are none of them punished by the strict government, the main character is...rewarded beyond belief? She switches her loyalties every other line. The unambiguous hypocrisy of the government doesn't raise any flags for her? What a frustrating mess.

1. I'm always tempted by the tagged book in stores but I try not to pay full price for things I haven't read and haven't gotten it from the library.
2. My college roommate and I do Roomie Christmas but the weather cancelled our plans and now we're meeting Feb 16, so kind of Galentine's.
3. Periwinkle bleh it was barely a color at all in the crayon box, so pale and bleh bleh bleh.
4. Steven! I like it!

This book entranced me, even when it felt like I should be disturbed. Broadway intricately weaves a world, society, and religion so well it feels real. The ending was strange, but then, so was the book.

Kinda kicking myself, I started reading a series that is still being written... I try to avoid that because I'm just not a patient reader. Anyway, all that aside Ink was a great kick-off to a YA dystopian trilogy. The Selection series (Kiera Cass) has long since been my favorite of the genre but I really enjoyed this title. Loved the concept of displaying your life on your skin through tattoo. Hope the next two books just as thought provoking.

Day 29: book cover you love #30daybookchallenge

It's just so shiny and amazing! Picked it up because of the cover and I actually quite enjoyed it!

So: tattooing of significant life events is compulsory and, after death, one's skin is made into a book to be honoured or publicly burned. Add a charismatic leader ramping up fear of the other and exhorting a return to "traditional values". It had me all kinds of tense as I kept turning the pages and... it didn't deliver on its promise. It's all a bit meh, with a headlong dash to the finish when it becomes apparent this is vol.1 of a trilogy. ?

The premise of the book is promising, but for me this book was too slow and creepy. Also, how come no one asks questions, no one doubts, everybody just obeys. Quite interesting different world building, but the characters are annoying and have no consistent personalities. I expected something more :)

I bought this because the cover was so shiny (the colours are metallic, but this does not show in the picture).
There were flaws in the depth of the world building, and for a 350 pages book it dragged a lot in the beginning. But it also had some interesting stuff going on with the tattoos.

I thought this book might be a bit different, but it is only dragging. Apparently it took 136 of 366 pages to meet the mysterious, gorgeous boy. Oh well...

In a world where everything is marked on your skin to be seen by all, what does it mean to be blank? After her dad dies, secrets come out that cause her to question everything she has accepted blindly. Excellent read.

I'm a bit torn on this one giving it 3 stars on Goodreads. It's good writing and a unique idea. Couple of plot issues that bother me and it felt preachy at times.

Isn‘t this the most gorgeous #coverart ever? It gleams!

The premises of the story are fascinating: imagine living in a world where having your life inked in your skin is the norm. Sounds cool, right? Unfortunately the story is written in a very slow pace and nothing hardly happens or there is no action at all. The end was so rushed in just few pages, but I think the author has a lot to offer.
In conclusion, I am giving this book 3 stars.

Today I went to an event at the bookstore, with special guest Victoria Aveyard (Red Queen series). I surprisingly became intrigued by another guest author at the event Alice Broadway. She was so cheerful and fun. I got so curious about her book that I grab a copy and got her sign.

Another book I got at #picnicYA - I've heard intriguing things about this one so I wanted to give it a go. The premise - a world where your every deed is tattooed on your skin - sounds really interesting. #YA #UKYA

I don't know how to feel. The whole concept was very appealing, the idea of what makes you good, whether we do really get a second chance, whether we will be remembered forever. But the whole story, even the characters, could have been developed more. I still recommend it because the book will make you think, but don't feel alone when you'll read the last line and think "That's it?"

The concept of Ink is fascinating: all people's achievements and major life events are tattooed on their skin. This leaves no room for secrets. Or at least that's the goal. The book revolves around the question what makes a person good or bad or whether everyone is both at once. I thought Leora was a very relatable main character: smart but insecure, and a lot stronger than she thinks. I'm definitely curious to read the next book in this series!

I DNFed this book, the premise sounded so much more interesting than it was, I didn't connect with the characters, they were very 2D and I found the storyline lacking

Light, easy read, perfect for anyone in a little bit of a reading slump. Leora can be frustrating at times and some of the relationships are a little too shallow for my liking. Obel, Sophie, Verity and Oscar were interesting characters that could have been more developed. A stunning looking book and an interesting take on society, faith and belief.

I enjoyed 'Ink', I liked the idea of your tattoos showing the different stages of your life. The premise of the story is unique, a world where tattoos are part of your life, a person who chooses not to have tattoos are called 'Blanks' & are seen as enemies.

Leora is a interesting character, she's stronger than she realises.

Recommended.
