I started and stopped this one in the past, but this time I powered through. I enjoyed it by the end, but I wasn‘t as caught up as I hoped to be. For a trained assassin, the main character felt very immature. What I‘m wondering is, does the series keep getting better? Is it worth continuing? I know that the first book is often the weakest in a series like this and I‘d love to hear feedback on if I should continue.
“He was done with politics and intrigue. He loved her, and no empire, no king, and no earthly fear would keep him from her. No, if they tried to take her from him, he'd rip the world apart with his bare hands. And for some reason, that didn't terrify him.”
Finished this one first for this year. Still just as good as the first time I read it. Continuing series will happen.
Given slavery or freedom, Celaena Sardothien chooses freedom-- the cost, a competition to see who can become the king's champion and personal assassin for hire. Not only must she compete against other ruthless assassins, but dark magic & jealously, too, as she catches the eye of the prince. YA & not as sensual as other Maas books such as A Court of Thorns and Roses.
Not just this book with a great deal many I find this the case. Anyone else? What book transported you into it‘s world I‘m always looking for my next adventure.
So I have a feeling this is leading to some real trouble… still intrigued to see where this is going
I truly don‘t know what to say.
Maas has a lot of fans all over the globe but I don‘t think I will be one of them.
Was the story/plot a good one? Yes.
Was the writing amazing? Can‘t say one way or another.
Will I read the rest of the books? Maybe.
Don‘t know if I enjoyed it enough to finish the series. I also may or may not have spoiled what Celaena does to Chaol in later books and I am not happy.
Did you like these books? Should I continue?
So I‘m not completely sure how I feel about this one. I felt like the whole book was slow and dragged out for what seemed like a predictable ending. Maybe I‘m comparing it too much to The Court series. It was great story telling but I felt myself wanting more than what I was reading. Like I wanted each page to give more than what it gave. So for now it‘s a so so.. going to start the second book in hopes for more.
Hmm, did I enjoy this significantly more than the attempt to read ACOTAR? Yes. Did I enjoy it enough to borrow the second one and place a hold for the third? Also yes. Do I think I‘m going to finish the series? Doubtful.
It has been a while since I first read this book. I read it again and I still lie it. Maybe this time I can finish this series.
The library is in the Founder's Festival parade today! Of course I had to have a book (and a dragon!) with me! 📚💕🐉 #dragonsoflitsy
Got a nice long bookish walk in at the park today before the storms rolled in! 🌿📚💕
Loved it but that‘s not surprising- Sarah J Mass could write an instruction manual and I‘d read it. Excited to spend my holiday making my way through the serise.
It is super hot (aka buggy) today, so I didn't stay long, but I did get to spend a little bit of time reading at the park! 🌿📚💕
I liked the book overall and will continue with the series. The only real issue I had was there were time the book summarized large chunks of the story. I feel like at least a little more detail would have been nice. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
😲❤️ These book covers alone! Depending on how much focus gets placed on the love triangle, I may get weary of the characters over time, but for book 1 in this series, I had so much fun watching these characters show their true personalities. And while some plot points were easier to figure out, the story moved along so quickly I didn‘t care. #TeamCaleana
It‘s a strong start, but I felt some parts were rushed or out of place.
Really enjoying this YA fantasy. Even though the love triangle is obvious, it‘s not overpowering. I‘m much more invested in Caleana, the champion contest, and the Wyrd marks mystery.
Enjoying this fantasy, but this quote hit me tonight. Going to try to lose track of time within these pages. Wishing you peace🕊
Today I am on shelf 11/21 of my #BookshelfTour
This is part 2/3 for this shelf 💙
Tagged my favorite, I haven‘t finished this series yet but I‘m loving it so far 🥰

Been in a bit of a reading rut and little one has been sick so haven‘t picked up a book in a few weeks. But I finally decided to start Throne of Glass. I‘m only on chapter 9 but it‘s definitely pulled me out of my rut and I‘m enjoying it very much. Can‘t wait to see where the story goes !
Thought I would finally dive into the world of SJM but I don‘t know where to begin 😬
Question for the group: As a Sarah J Maas virgin, which book should I read first??

Book 18
It took me so long to finish this…. Honestly truly not good and I wanted to stop but I got through it
A very interesting beginning to what I hope is an epic series
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Finished and I just didn‘t get all the fuss. I‘m really not interested in reading any further in the series. It was just ok to me. 3⭐️
Sooo I definitely have a massive book hangover after finishing HOSAB; but I finally have the motivation to finish the TOG series 😅 so yet again I‘m going to listen to books 1-4 again and possibly listen/physically read the remaining books, depending on my mood 📚⚔️
Bk6 of February & Bk2 of #FabulousFebruary #readathon is done! After the ending of AHOSAB I figured I‘d do a huge reread of all her books(spoilers!) For a YA fantasy it has some heavy themes going, don‘t let the fact most of the MCs are under 21 deter you, this is a pretty epic fantasy in my book🤴🏻🥷🏻🧝🏼♀️ #BookspinBingo #SeriesRead2022 #PennyPerPage #Pop22 #FinishingTheSeries #52BookClubRC2022 #Pageathon #BooklistQueenRC
Have I read the ebooks? Yes.
Did I still buy the physical copies for the satisfaction of my soul? Yes.
Do I regret it? Nope!
Its Tog time babyyyy!💕❤️😍

Finished up my January #DoubleSpin this past week and forgot to post about it! Fantasy is a new genre for me and at first I was a little unsure but by the halfway point, I was hooked. Thankfully so, since I have the entire series on kindle.
Started this series for an escape. My mom had surgery earlier this week (planned, everything went well) and I‘m her primary caregiver during her first seven days of recovery. I wanted something to distract me and Kendra The Lazy Genius loves this series so we will see how this works out!
I know I‘m not the target age range for YA but in my 30s this was ok. If I read it in my teens I‘d probably be ALL about it.
I couldn‘t care less about how pretty Celeana was but the characters would ramble on about it. I also was a bit tired with the love triangle–especially because I already knew who I was rooting for and I predict they‘ll be together by the end of the series.
I still really enjoyed the read and I got more into it the further I read. The narrative really raises the question of morality. I loved the characters and worldbuilding.
Throne of Glass is about an eighteen year old girl named Celaena Sardothien in a corrupt kingdom with a tyrannical ruler, the King of Adarlan. Celaena is a trained assassin who is serving a life sentence for killing hundreds of people. One day Celaena gets offered a deal by young Captain Westfall: her freedom in return for a huge sacrifice. As the tale progresses, Celaena forms unexpected bonds and uncovers a conspiracy amidst her adventures.
Not as into this as I was her other books so far. Much more YA focussed. Will likely read the second one, but not in a rush to do so.
Just because I'm in a reading slump doesn't mean I can't buy books for when I've recovered. I've heard so many good things about these I couldn't resist the deal. Even though I think Amazon is the devil. Consider me corrupted I guess.
Being an 18 year old, famously feared, female assassin thrown into a competition of all men to battle for her freedom is something that I could never imagine. Combine that with a fascinating world, politics, outlawed magic and visitors from beyond the grave and you're in for a very interesting read! Trauma, suspicions and a love triangle keep you on your toes while wondering who (if anyone) you can trust. Excited to start the second book!
Finished this with my book club! Review to come after our meeting 😁
Starting this for a book club! We will see how this goes lol.
