#LittensLoveSJM The Assassin and the Pirate Lord: What a wild swashbuckling ride this was! We get to see 16-year-old Celaena, brash and reckless, sent with Sam on a mission by Arobynn. They are supposed to make a deal with Rolfe, the Pirate Lord, but Arobynn wasn‘t completely forthcoming in the reason for their mission. We see elements of Arobynn‘s corruption and Celaena starts to lose trust in her Master. She also grows closer to her rival Sam⬇️

StayCurious We see that despite being assassins, Sam and Celaena have morals and care for people. We see their history and the bond that will soon grow between the characters (I‘m already getting the tissues handy). Can‘t wait to read more from Celaena‘s early days. 2d
LiseWorks I found her reckless and not trusting in Sam. He almost died here. I'm not sure her plans are in the best interest of her friends and allies. And because we know about his future, it was a nail bitter. 2d

5feet.of.fury I like the down to the wire escape , the action was so fun, the tavern scene was great & im so excited to learn more about her & Sam 2d
mcctrish I had just assumed C and Sam were buddies from the beginning 🤯 2d
5feet.of.fury @mcctrish same! I was so confused at how they started off! 2d
Butterfinger @5feet.of.fury @mcctrish I was thinking the same. Rivals since they were kids. The pirate brawl, the chain, everything was nailbiting good. Will these characters show up again? I mean, will we see Rolfe in the future? 1d
StayCurious @Butterfinger I think he‘s definitely mentioned in Heir of Fire 20h
BarkingMadRead I love the whole enemies to lovers thing going on with Sam and Caleana although I‘m sad for her in advance since we know how it ends. She definitely plans like a 16 year old 🤣 8h

#wdncw we don‘t care that it is 2 pm, we are flying to Thunder Bay ( to take oldest to teachers college) and we paid good money for this wee bottle of white wine with our Air Canada ticket price 😉 ( John was aghast at the day drinking 😂 and we don‘t care about that either) #littenslovesjm

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Next is to go back to the beginning with the prequel novellas. B/c they‘re broken up by book, we‘ll read one per week and I‘ll post on Saturday: Aug 30, Sept 6, 13, 20, finishing on Sept 27. I‘ve heard reading these novellas gives information that is valuable for the rest of the series. If you‘re not able to join, let me know and I can remove you from my main SJM tag list or save you for the next book.

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 ch.61-end/review: well, that‘s how you ramp up a book and get the readers excited for the next book. I felt like it was Boom Boom Boom - each of our characters had smth life altering happening in these final chapters. I‘d like to make special mention of Chaol finally choosing a side and then giving up his name and identity, just as Aelin acknowledges who she really is. That wasn‘t lost on us,SJM. ⬇️

StayCurious Did anyone else feel as though they were reading a different book when it came to the witch chapters? Funnily enough those were my favourite chapters and the most interesting. I can‘t wait to see what Manon gets up to in the next books. There‘s a lot to be done by the others: free Aedion, find the third wyrdkey, face Celaena‘s old master, free Dorian (who now may be inhabited by the Valg)…lots to do. ⬇️ 1w
StayCurious But now we‘re going to take a little side quest to the prequel novellas in The Assassin‘s Blade. For those who want to join me, I‘ll post a reading schedule tomorrow. (edited) 1w

BarkingMadRead I‘m in for the next one! I loved the Manon chapters, they were very different but in the very best way 1w
mcctrish I will join you - I got the wrong book from the library 😱 and I agree on Manon and her witch pals feeling like a different book. The Assassin‘s Blade might give me some trouble, all forms of it have long wait times at multiple libraries (edited) 1w
Roary47 I‘m in for the next one too! 🥰 1w
LiseWorks Boom, Boom, Boom is exactly right for the last chapters. Yes fir the next book 1w
Butterfinger Week of professional development, a mile long to-do list, a new baby in the family. I woke up at 3 to complete ch 55 to the end. Maas knows how to craft a cliffhanger. I was sort of wanting Abraxos to eat the grandmother. I have missed reading. 1w

Hey guys - sorry for missing last night‘s post-life gets in the way of reading! I will keep to our schedule and post the finale tomorrow since we‘re all very eager to finish😀 #LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch 58-60. What a face off with Maeve! I can‘t quite believe Celaena got her to free Rowan. Was it too easy? Is it certain? Like Maeve wasn‘t just playing Fae games was she? ⬇️

StayCurious I hope that insubordination doesn‘t come back to bite them but let‘s face it - we haven‘t seen the last of Maeve. And now everyone knows Aelin is alive. And boy was the King pissed. He‘s usually always a step ahead but not this time. Here‘s hoping him and Maeve don‘t conspire together. 2w
BarkingMadRead Omg these chapters are epic. I totally finished yesterday 🤣 2w

Laughterhp I was so surprised she was able free Rowan so easily! I definitely don‘t think that‘s the last we‘ll see of Maeve. I fell asleep last night, but hope to finish ASAP! 2w
Littlewolf1 @BarkingMadRead 🙋🏼‍♀️Me Too! 2w
mcctrish Rowan knew Maeve‘s back story and what tiny little wiggle room they might have, he had to play the long game with her - I thought this was going to be sooo bad with him being deaded 2w
LiseWorks I think Maeve is afraid of the king. 2w
Roary47 Whoa! That was epic! Did he get out of his servitude and go straight to another oath with A? 1w
StayCurious @Roary47 he did indeed. I think it was a way to protect himself and Aelin from Maeve by bonding them together. 1w

Well , Damn, I had to finish this today because all was happening in the last chapters. There was more action in the last chapters than there was in the whole book. Although I love the witches chapters and Dorian with Sochia. I'll be checking in with #LittensLoveSJM @StayCurious comments on the BuddyReads. #Read2025 @DieAReader #ISpyabingoAugust @TheAromaofBooks one bingo spot.

I couldn‘t wait #littenslovesjm despite this being a reread I only vaguely remember the witches 🤷🏻‍♀️ Manon and Abraxos are my favourites. I‘m getting the next one from the library ( which I‘ve apparently also read but my brain is like a sieve with these books so I will be reading it again for the first time )

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch.55-57: Celaena has finally faced her past and is able to tell her story. She is healing and moving past her grief. Some of that has to do with Rowan and the bond that has built - too bad he is enslaved to Maeve. She could command him to kill Celaena and he‘d have no choice. That‘s dangerous. And Maeve will not want such a powerhouse as a potential rival. I sense bad things in the future with Maeve. ⬇️

StayCurious It‘s too bad Chaol and Dorian are still at such odds. But I think they are at such odds and have such different beliefs - they are no longer the children they once were. But you‘d think they would realize they share a common enemy enough to work together. Do you think destroying a tower will make a difference? If so…let‘s goooo. 2w
BarkingMadRead Maeve makes me so nervous! She may not like how powerful Caelena has gotten 2w

mcctrish @BarkingMadRead same!!!! She‘s not going to like Celeana one bit! I don‘t understand why Chaol and Dorian are still at odds - they both kept secrets, they‘ve both come clean, they have a common enemy 2w
Laughterhp I‘m going to have a hard time not reading ahead now that I‘m caught up! I hope Chaol and Dorian can settle their differences and work together. Sounds like destroying a tower should work! 2w
Littlewolf1 In my head, I keep chanting… I can keep to the schedule,I can keep to the schedule, I can keep to the schedule… yet somehow it keeps changing to..I can finish it in one night! No worries, I‘m still sticking to three at night. The connection between Rowan and Aline is amazing. I‘m also glad that Chaol and Dorian seem to be on the mend. Wishing we had a little witch action in here though. 2w
