#LittensLoveSJM #ToG The Assassin and the desert: Celaena is sent to train with the master of the Silent Assassins in the desert as punishment for defying Arobynne - after he beat the crap out of her and did god knows what to Sam. Celaena meets a girl named Ansel who has had a difficult traumatic life, just like Celaena - and she makes a friend.⬇️

StayCurious She sees a different way of existing than under the cruel tyranny of Arobynne and she starts to see a change in how she views Sam. Honestly this novella was kind of boring and I was just waiting for the moments where she mentioned Sam and seeking any info that we might find useful in the rest of the series. I didn‘t much like Ansel and was not invested in her story. 1d
mcctrish This novella didn‘t seem to have as much story to it as the previous ones, although I guess it sets up a future Celaena would rather live in and makes further connections for when she takes over the world 1d

5feet.of.fury I didn‘t find this one as engaging either, it gave the background in the Asterion horse other than that I was like “just get back to Sam!” Lol 1d
BarkingMadRead @5feet.of.fury 💯💯💯 1d
LiseWorks I felt betrayed by Ansel. I did find it a bit slow. 1d
Butterfinger I found myself liking this story. The peace would have been such a balm to Celaena. So different from Aerobynn. This group showed more compassion, more like Celaena's values. 3h

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG The Assassin and the Healer: this was a great story and another example of Celaena finding a way to help someone and do something for the greater good. She meets Yrene, a wannabe healer who is adrift and feeling lost in the wake of Adarlan‘s conquest. She teaches Yrene some valuable lessons and gives her the means to become what she is destined to be. I have a feeling we will be seeing Yrene again. ⬇️

StayCurious Also, Arobynne is a horrible master and I hope Sam wasn‘t punished too badly. I can‘t believe what Celaena dealt with in Arobynne‘s guild. (edited) 1w
mcctrish I hope we do meet Yrene soon ❤️ and I look forward to hunting Arobynne down and killing him 1w

5feet.of.fury Celaena is such a badass and it was nice to see her being a “girl‘s girl” in this one. I‘m sure it‘ll come back around down the line 1w
BarkingMadRead I hope we see Yrene again ! 1w
LiseWorks I want to see Yrene again. Two girls feeling sorry for themselves helping each other. 1w
Butterfinger I don't understand her pride in being Aerobynne's heir or successor. He is truly awful. 1w
Roary47 I hope we see Yrene again too. I‘m so glad Celeana helped her to gain more confidence. 7d

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Next is to go back to the beginning with the prequel novellas. B/c they‘re broken up by book, we‘ll read one per week and I‘ll post on Saturday: Aug 30, Sept 6, 13, 20, finishing on Sept 27. I‘ve heard reading these novellas gives information that is valuable for the rest of the series. If you‘re not able to join, let me know and I can remove you from my main SJM tag list or save you for the next book.

Pickpick

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 ch.61-end/review: well, that‘s how you ramp up a book and get the readers excited for the next book. I felt like it was Boom Boom Boom - each of our characters had smth life altering happening in these final chapters. I‘d like to make special mention of Chaol finally choosing a side and then giving up his name and identity, just as Aelin acknowledges who she really is. That wasn‘t lost on us,SJM. ⬇️

StayCurious Did anyone else feel as though they were reading a different book when it came to the witch chapters? Funnily enough those were my favourite chapters and the most interesting. I can‘t wait to see what Manon gets up to in the next books. There‘s a lot to be done by the others: free Aedion, find the third wyrdkey, face Celaena‘s old master, free Dorian (who now may be inhabited by the Valg)…lots to do. ⬇️ 3w
StayCurious But now we‘re going to take a little side quest to the prequel novellas in The Assassin‘s Blade. For those who want to join me, I‘ll post a reading schedule tomorrow. (edited) 3w

BarkingMadRead I‘m in for the next one! I loved the Manon chapters, they were very different but in the very best way 3w
mcctrish I will join you - I got the wrong book from the library 😱 and I agree on Manon and her witch pals feeling like a different book. The Assassin‘s Blade might give me some trouble, all forms of it have long wait times at multiple libraries (edited) 3w
Roary47 I‘m in for the next one too! 🥰 3w
LiseWorks Boom, Boom, Boom is exactly right for the last chapters. Yes fir the next book 3w
Butterfinger Week of professional development, a mile long to-do list, a new baby in the family. I woke up at 3 to complete ch 55 to the end. Maas knows how to craft a cliffhanger. I was sort of wanting Abraxos to eat the grandmother. I have missed reading. 3w

Hey guys - sorry for missing last night‘s post-life gets in the way of reading! I will keep to our schedule and post the finale tomorrow since we‘re all very eager to finish😀 #LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch 58-60. What a face off with Maeve! I can‘t quite believe Celaena got her to free Rowan. Was it too easy? Is it certain? Like Maeve wasn‘t just playing Fae games was she? ⬇️

StayCurious I hope that insubordination doesn‘t come back to bite them but let‘s face it - we haven‘t seen the last of Maeve. And now everyone knows Aelin is alive. And boy was the King pissed. He‘s usually always a step ahead but not this time. Here‘s hoping him and Maeve don‘t conspire together. 3w
BarkingMadRead Omg these chapters are epic. I totally finished yesterday 🤣 3w

Laughterhp I was so surprised she was able free Rowan so easily! I definitely don‘t think that‘s the last we‘ll see of Maeve. I fell asleep last night, but hope to finish ASAP! 3w
Littlewolf1 @BarkingMadRead 🙋🏼‍♀️Me Too! 3w
mcctrish Rowan knew Maeve‘s back story and what tiny little wiggle room they might have, he had to play the long game with her - I thought this was going to be sooo bad with him being deaded 3w
LiseWorks I think Maeve is afraid of the king. 3w
Roary47 Whoa! That was epic! Did he get out of his servitude and go straight to another oath with A? 3w
StayCurious @Roary47 he did indeed. I think it was a way to protect himself and Aelin from Maeve by bonding them together. 3w

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch.55-57: Celaena has finally faced her past and is able to tell her story. She is healing and moving past her grief. Some of that has to do with Rowan and the bond that has built - too bad he is enslaved to Maeve. She could command him to kill Celaena and he‘d have no choice. That‘s dangerous. And Maeve will not want such a powerhouse as a potential rival. I sense bad things in the future with Maeve. ⬇️

StayCurious It‘s too bad Chaol and Dorian are still at such odds. But I think they are at such odds and have such different beliefs - they are no longer the children they once were. But you‘d think they would realize they share a common enemy enough to work together. Do you think destroying a tower will make a difference? If so…let‘s goooo. 4w
BarkingMadRead Maeve makes me so nervous! She may not like how powerful Caelena has gotten 4w

mcctrish @BarkingMadRead same!!!! She‘s not going to like Celeana one bit! I don‘t understand why Chaol and Dorian are still at odds - they both kept secrets, they‘ve both come clean, they have a common enemy 4w
Laughterhp I‘m going to have a hard time not reading ahead now that I‘m caught up! I hope Chaol and Dorian can settle their differences and work together. Sounds like destroying a tower should work! 4w
Littlewolf1 In my head, I keep chanting… I can keep to the schedule,I can keep to the schedule, I can keep to the schedule… yet somehow it keeps changing to..I can finish it in one night! No worries, I‘m still sticking to three at night. The connection between Rowan and Aline is amazing. I‘m also glad that Chaol and Dorian seem to be on the mend. Wishing we had a little witch action in here though. 4w

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch.52-54: wow what a chapter 54 was - SJM can sure write impactful scenes! Seeing just some of the people Celaena has lost - and what she went through as a girl - it shows how strong she really is. I‘d be in a mental institution - hands down. And once we get more Sam scenes in the prequel novellas - I‘m going to be gutted. ⬇️

StayCurious We were shown the real villains of the piece - the Valg. I‘m sure they will play a key role in this series. Especially since they can inhabit a person‘s body. Could someone be taken over without anyone knowing? 4w
BarkingMadRead Omg that whole plot the king put together to kill them all is insane 4w

StayCurious @BarkingMadRead very Game of Thrones I thought 4w
mcctrish The king has Long Game! Did he know it was her, Aelin, as his Champion? 4w
StayCurious @mcctrish my guess is he knows almost everything. Somehow. He‘s brilliant and conniving. 4w
Butterfinger Not only does she write amazing action, but she also creates characters that become my favorites. 4w
Laughterhp These chapters were so good! Doesn‘t surprise me about the king but so diabolical! I really liked seeing into her past. 4w
Littlewolf1 Crying, who‘s crying… I‘m not crying! OK well maybe I got a little emotional during the last chapter. Reliving her memories and then facing the people that she loved that she felt like she failed was insane. But to face herself and accept herself was pretty bad ass. 4w
Roary47 I have been struggling with this book, but that last chapter. 😭It was nice to see what she went through and how strong she became because of it. Hopefully, I can catch up in time for the next book. Teaching three different subjects this year is zapping my reading time. 3w

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 ch.49-51: Man, Celaena seems to get betrayed a lot. I wonder who turned on them and gave Narrok‘s forces the edge. Here‘s hoping all that fire training will help her against those creatures. And finally, after the slave massacre, Dorian seems to realize his father is literally the worst. But he knows that he must remain heir to make things change. ⬇️

StayCurious What he needs to do is assassinate the king but the king seems to always be one step ahead so that may be a bad plan. 1mo
LiseWorks I felt bad for Dorian. What to do? And now the fight begins! 1mo
See All 7 Comments
mcctrish I want to know who betrayed them! It has to be a character we‘ve met? Chaol and Dorian‘s stories seem so lame compared to Celaena and the witches but I still don‘t understand why the king just lets Chaol do whatever 1mo
Butterfinger I'm on the edge of my seat. Aedion was so pitiful. The pretense. The guilt. 1mo
Littlewolf1 Oh man, how did I get off track here. Seriously thought I was doing three a day, but apparently I read an extra two chapters somewhere… Lol. 1mo
BarkingMadRead Ong this betrayer better not wreck me. And this is getting harder to put down. I have a feeling I‘ll be done by Tuesday, and only because I have a busy Monday 🤣 1mo

#LittensLoveSJM #ToG Book 3 Ch.46-48: I think we all know how bad the King of Adarlan is. But killing every slave in those labour camps - the brutality is unthinkable. And what is his endgame? Adarlan is in charge but soon will have no people to rule over. And now the revenue from those labour camps is gone. It‘s hard to fathom such cruelty. ⬇️

StayCurious Celaena was already going to kill him but now I think she‘ll have a lot of help from those around her. But first, save the Demi fae and the fortress! Here‘s hoping Maeve lets Rowan stay and fight. 1mo
mcctrish The king is just burning it all to the ground proving he‘s insane 1mo

5feet.of.fury @mcctrish agree, so over the top. But Vengeance is coming 🔥🔥🔥 hopefully this snaps the boys out of their complacency 1mo
BarkingMadRead This was way over the top, how could he benefit from this? 1mo
Littlewolf1 I forgot how heartbreaking the series was, and again I‘m reminded why I had to read other books during the series. It absolutely wrecks my soul to think about how many people were just massacred, and how devastated the people left behind must feel. I know it‘s fiction but I feel this. And it also reminds me that despite being fiction, things like this happen when people seek power and control. It‘s not just in stories. 1mo
Butterfinger Rowan showed some humility when telling Aelin. At the beginning, he would have used the knowledge to make her mad. @Littlewolf1 you are right. 1mo
LiseWorks I'm not sure this was a good plan to kill them all. 1mo
Roary47 Eeesh… 3w
