#HauntedShelf

A good find for cold category of #ScavengerBookHunt I love the frost like design at the edge of the cover.
I finished this last night and highly recommend it if you're after an atmospheric, creepy ghost story in an isolated setting. 4⭐️

The last 1/3 or 1/4 is really where this one shines, but a great read all the way thru. A slow start that inches its way to an exciting ending. I loved how atmospheric and frigid the story felt, and how haunting and actual story was. There is a lot in here about trauma and how we hold onto it, in our minds and our bodies. So well done. I had no idea how the different timelines would converge until they finally did and overall I loved this one.

intothehallofbooks I received a digital copy of this book for review via NetGalley a while back and took far too long to read it. Many thanks to the Berkley Publishing for sending it my way! 2mo

This was horrific in the best possible way! It is very dark - if you‘re someone who checks trigger warnings definitely do for this one - but it‘s another great example of a mix of the paranormal and a sort of time manipulation. It deals with grief and trauma and loss but somehow has a very satisfying ending. This is the 2nd or 3rd book I‘ve read from this author and I‘ve enjoyed them all! 🌟🌟🌟🌟💫

“Centered around the Ormen, a deserted shipwreck off the coast of Iceland, the novel follows an explorer who uncovers the ship‘s dark past riddled with lies, cruelty and murder.

A chilling tale perfect for this winter weather.”

This book was much darker than I anticipated. That being said, I couldn't tear myself away, I wanted to know what happened. I listened to this one on audio and loved the narration. The narrator has a thick Scottish accent and it really sets the tone. Trigger warnings for non-consensual sex.

This was incredible! A dual timeline novel about The Ormen, a ship which has been abandoned with the crew missing and never found. So dark, gothic and claustrophobic while also being touching and sad with elements of folklore. The writing is sublime with the cold atmosphere of Iceland perfectly captured so you can feel the chills. One of the best books I‘ve read this year
