This has been an autumn of all things Sleepy Hollow for me, and Henry‘s reimagining of the legend did not disappoint. It‘s spooky, atmospheric, sad, and hopeful. Something evil stalks the Hollow. Is it the Headless Horseman or something else? It‘s up to the only grandchild of Brom Bones and Katrina Van Tassel to figure it out. The ending was absolute perfection. #bookhangover

What did I just read?? I really don't want to give anything away, but if you like suspenseful thrillers with fantastic twists this book is for you. This was the first book I've read by Hoover and it blew me away. From the very first page I was hooked and couldn't stop reading. I had a major hangover from this book because I was still questioning the ending - going back and forth on what really happened.

#adult #mystery #catsoflitsy #bookhangover

Librarygal08 I feel the exact same way ! What did I just read ? What is the truth ? So much didn‘t add up with that ending , I don‘t know what to believe ! 5mo
RebeccaRoo7 Yes!!! And I can't find another book that is comparable. They all seem too predictable now. 😪😪 5mo

Love is not strong enough for how I feel about this book. Beautifully written, artful, and quietly heart wrenching. A story about love, relationships, and loss that‘s left me with a hole in my heart and a #bookhangover like I haven‘t had in a long time. 💛

I loved it ♥️ Immense, intelligent, clever and wonderfully written. It won‘t tear your heart out like ALL, but it will make you think.
It must have been a gift writing the end of the book in a pandemic.
Many themes we tackle daily are woven through the book without being preachy, make your own mind up.
Waiting to discuss! I‘m lost in the hinterland of not knowing what to read next now!

squirrelbrain Oh no, the dreaded #bookhangover…! Great review. 11mo
Oryx Fab review. I started last night - will hopefully get stuck in this afternoon properly 11mo

Cathythoughts Excellent review... I can‘t wait to get to it now 👍❤️ 11mo
Simona I‘m on Book III and each part is more interesting and intriguing … I love it too! 11mo
Cinfhen Great review, Trish!!! I agree, it could have felt like an agenda with everything she touched upon but it didn‘t 🙏🏻 11mo
TrishB @Simona so glad you‘re loving it too ❤️ 11mo
TrishB @Cinfhen which bits were you still frustrated by? I thought her ongoing discussions about equal rights was very clever. Oh, these people can have full human rights, but these can‘t 🤷‍♀️ and changing them up each time. 11mo
Cinfhen I really disliked the use of epistolary technique to TELL SO MUCH of the novel. It worked well in part 3 and it was ok in part 1 but I HATED it in part 2. I pretty much thought book 2 was unnecessary to parts one & 3. I liked the very beginning of book 2 (the AIDS storyline) but the entire discussion of utopia & Hawaii was too much. I also disliked the repeating of names without ever connecting them. It was manipulative, placing Easter eggs but 11mo
Cinfhen Offering no surprises. I didn‘t mind the ambiguity but I think she could have connected some of the dots over the centuries. 11mo
BarbaraBB Fab review. Can‘t wait to read it! 11mo
erzascarletbookgasm Great review! Stacking 11mo
TrishB @Cinfhen part 2 was definitely the weakest overall, the way the storyline split. I thought she was making us work by not offering all the answers and I never worry about the bits that don‘t get tidied up. She definitely makes the reader work! 11mo
TrishB @BarbaraBB @erzascarletbookgasm I hope you enjoy when you get there. I worry about over hyping it! 11mo
TrishB @Oryx @StellaB @Cathythoughts @Simona hope you enjoy/are enjoying! 11mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage I am trying to hard to “clear my decks” for this one. Must read a book club book first!!! 11mo
TrishB @BarbaraTheBibliophage hope you enjoy when you get there! 11mo
MicheleinPhilly @BarbaraTheBibliophage I‘m in the same boat. I have 2 book club meetings next week and have to tackle those 2 first. Then I‘m thinking of giving myself a long weekend to really sink my teeth into it. 11mo
TrishB @MicheleinPhilly definitely the long weekend! 11mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage @MicheleinPhilly Whew - glad I only have one for a book group!! I would love to hibernate and devour this one, though. 11mo

The movie Fried Green Tomatoes has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. I read the book about 10 years ago and enjoyed it. I wanted to do a reread before I read the sequel that came out recently. I decided to grab the #audiobook and I‘m so glad I did! It really brings the story to life and now I think it‘s better than the movie. I‘ve always felt the movie, while amazing, has the tone of being a bit depressing, although there are lots of ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 Funny moments as well. But the tone of the book is more lighthearted and is actually quite funny, although it still has the major plot points of the movie. I love the small-town vibe and the sense of community in Whistle Stop. I love how accepting everyone is about Ruth and Idgie‘s relationship, and unlike the movie, they are both clearly in love with each other and the town treats them like a married couple raising Ruth‘s son. The movie makes ⬇️ 1y
JenlovesJT47 It more one-sided on Idgie‘s part. I freaking love Evelyn Couch and her relationship with Ninny Threadgoode. I teared up a few times and didn‘t want this to end. I devoured it in 4 days. The narrator does a great job and I feel like I have a #bookhangover — all this to say if you enjoy the movie you will definitely like this. Highly recommended to historical fiction lovers. 5⭐️ (edited) 1y
