Corral by Susan Fletcher is an excellent, and interesting, example of historical fiction covering the Glencoe Massacre in Scotland in 1609.This book also covers witchcraft, or suspected witchcraft and relationships, and the difference one person can make. It is rated at 4.25 on Goodreads and I thoroughly recommend it! It has also been published under the title The Highland Witch.

LeahBergen I have this waiting on my shelf. 👍🏻 14mo

I read this book early last year, and absolutely loved it. George Eliot (not her real name 😂) created such interesting female characters. This book was so engrossing that I listened to a lot of it on audio when I couldn‘t sit to read... I highly recommend this version read by the amazing Juliet Stevenson.

HKGirl Loved Middlemarch as a teen, and planning to reread it this summer. 😊 And Juliet Stevenson as a narrator is 💯💯 14mo
Penny_LiteraryHoarders Juliet Stevenson is amazing!! Have you read Helen Simonson's Summer Before the War? I think you would love it. It's the reason I went out to buy Middlemarch (still have to read) because so many said it reminded them of it. I LOVED the Summer book. Swoon. 14mo
sprainedbrain @Penny_LiteraryHoarders I have not, but I‘m definitely stacking it. Thank you!! 14mo

A gothic classic written by a 19 year old young woman.

mabell I knew the story of the Byron "writing challenge," of which this was a product, but I didn't realize she was only 19 ? 14mo
