Talk Bookish to Me
Talk Bookish to Me: A Novel | Kate Bromley
Inspiration can come from the most unlikelyand inconvenientsources. Kara Sullivans life is full of lovealbeit fictional. As a bestselling romance novelist and influential Bookstagrammer, shes fine with getting her happily-ever-after fix between the covers of a book. But right now? Not only is Karas best friend getting married next weekwhich means big wedding stressbut the deadline for her next novel is looming, and she hasnt written a single word. The last thing she needs is for her infuriating first love, Ryan Thompson, to suddenly appear in the wedding party. But Ryans unexpected arrival sparks a creative awakening in Kara that inspires the steamy historical romance she desperately needs to deliver. With her wedding duties intensifying, her deadline getting closer by the second and her bills not paying themselves, Kara knows theres only one way for her to finish her book and to give her characters the ever-after they deserve. But can she embrace the unlikely, ruggedly handsome musewho pushes every one of her buttonsto save the wedding, her career and, just maybe, write her own happy ending?

This was alright. I liked the banter… an early scene in a bar involving a “glass eye” had me in tears laughing…. But there‘s a lot in here about grieving, guilt, and forgiveness. Almost 4 star read, but not quite. #bookspinbingo #bookspin

An author has to deal with writers block and an ex from ten years ago. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This second chance #romance did not work for me.

To name just two things that rubbed me the wrong way: There's the book within a book trope that I don't like. There's cheating.

The beginning was great with massive emotions and snappy dialogue. The ending was sweet. But there is a definite “no go” action which brought the whole tale down a notch.

This is a funny and cute story....in most part. Kara is a funny character. She writes historical romance novels where her characters seem to resolve their love stories. But what about her love life?🤔😳😬Her last 2 love relations ended in bad terms where the trust in the relationship were broken. In her friend ore wedding party, she will see again one of her boyfriends. Will they talk about what happened? Are they going to be together again? ⬇️

Gissy Even when I lol in this novel, I found some toxic factors in Kara relationship with this particular person. He lied and lied and every person found that she was the one who needed to understand why he acted like that, what? They never talked about all these lies. For me this little man has zero introspection, external locus of control and I might say liked to control some situation. No thank you, I don‘t see the ending cute and neither romantic⬇️ (edited) 2y
Gissy I know this is an unpopular opinion but no way, I don‘t see it as romantic relationship😐3⭐️

#TheForgottenBookClub it was supposed to be discussed Las month but the date was changed. I was the only one with this kind of couple relationship analysts. The other members lived the book.

TheAromaofBooks I haven't read this one, but I'm always frustrated by stories where all the blame for a relationship's problems are put on one person, when that's pretty much never the case in real life. 2y
Gissy @TheAromaofBooks Exactly! I don‘t if I was the only one who saw how a pathological liar was this “cute” person😳 2y

Book #8 finished, very cute, not as predictable as usual rom-com's are. Really enjoyed!

Finished this ebook today. This was an adorable second chance romance of a couple who haven't seen each other in ten years but find each other again at a pre-wedding party and yep, they're both in the wedding party. And, they both pretend to hate the other but really, may still love each other. I really enjoyed this one.
Book #4 for the #FabulousFebruary Readathon.

Honestly couldn‘t put this one down. Such a cute read from start to finish. Cheesy? Kind of. Addicting? Definitely. Read it in one day. Honestly also all of my goals in a book

I definitely enjoyed this enemies to lovers trope read. My only dislike was how obsessed with each other Kara and Ryan were and how parts of their relationship did not seem genuine at all. I was disappointed with the plot line about halfway through and the ending felt a little lackluster to me, but overall a fun quick beach read with plenty of funny banter.

This is book 3 of 4 in the inaugural Men Read Romance box. And I loved it! I couldn‘t put it down. I absolutely devoured it this evening. Witty dialogue, great characters, just enough tension to make it oh so real. Bonus, the MC is a romance novelist.

That‘s 3 for 3 picks in this subscription box. Now onto book 4.

wanderinglynn @4thhouseontheleft right?! 😆 I almost used the Beach Reads one, but I thought this one was way more fun. I love Frostbeard candles. 3y

Kara & Ryan
College Sweethearts
Torn apart by distance and misunderstanding
Reunited 10 years later

Boring AF, vanilla, and blah. Even though I didn‘t care for the characters and had no attachment to them I feel like the author did them both dirty. If you read for the characters skip this one as they are not worth the time.

Hmmm. While it is a classic enemies to lovers trope, I think I would have liked it even more if Kara would have been left as a powerhouse not tied to any men.

Interesting characters, but none of Kara and Ryan's relationship development hit the right beats for me. Everything needed a little more depth. #romcom #contemporaryromance
