I love Stacey Abrams (her politics, her in general), I do not love political thrillers, but this was really a rollercoaster of a read with a plucky MC, relatable supporting cast & villains that have dimension (mostly). The clues weren‘t set up in a way that someone who doesn‘t know about chess or DC geography could figure out, &in the middle there started to me a plethora of new faces &info that got unwieldy. But all in all it was very good
There‘s something about fictional political/legal thrillers by authors whose day jobs deal in political/legal reality that I just can‘t quit. Some are written like a car chase and others a chess match. This was the latter, and even though a few of the moves (genetic bioengineering) were complicated, I liked Stacy‘s players and the game. …And just before this post I realized book 2 in the series is available.
I came across this book on the Barnes and Noble website and I can‘t wait to dive into it. #books #thrillers
I am not a mystery reader, so this very complicated political thriller was not for me. Too long and I found I did not care what happened to the characters. I made it to the half way mark and called it quits.
Pretty solid political thriller from Stacey Abrams. It had a lot going on, maybe a few too many complicated storylines but I liked the pacing, point of view and character development. I will definitely read more of her fiction (and non fiction too). Great #audio narrator! #BookspinBingo #Doublespin @TheAromaofBooks
My #July #BookspinBingo card. Love having a free space in the middle! Tagged my #Bookspin option and have it in. it‘s print and an audio loan from the library so I‘ll get to that soon! Working on my local library Summer Reading contest too 😍 @TheAromaofBooks
Feeling the title of this book today. Angry, disgusted, heartbroken. Got though work, now doing some book focused self care. Changed up my list to include more feminist and female forward reads. #abookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #roll100 @PuddleJumper
A Supreme Court justice slips into a coma and his talented young law clerk is left to serve as his legal guardian and follow the increasingly convoluted clues he‘s left for her about a controversial case facing the court. The puzzles and twists and turns are, at times, confusing. I did stay up late to finish this legal thriller, and I enjoyed it, but it‘s a soft pick.
I am so incredibly impressed with Stacey Abrams. The things that she gets done!
This book is a trip, it is also a soft pick for me. The language is a bit hokey and the storyline a bit too convoluted, but if you can suspend belief in all this .ain character is able to do (which we see often in men and not enough in women characters) and just enjoy the quick ride it is fun.

Wrapping up March which might be the best reading month I have ever had. Excited to see what April brings
@TheAromaofBooks
Wow! A fascinating thriller involving a Supreme Court Justice, his clerk, biological research, the President, the FBI, DHS, and a host of others. I really had trouble putting this down, I just had to find out how it turned out. Stacey Abrams gets my vote as polymath of the decade.
Overall I thought this was pretty good. I felt like some of it dragged/annoyed me, but I was invested in the outcome. My first #newyearwhodis read! @mrsmarch @monalyisha
What can‘t Stacey Abrams do? This was excellent, full of tension and twists & turns. I love a complex plot from a brilliant mind - this didn‘t let me down.
Good legal thriller with a lot of political shenanigans.
Unpopular opinion…I did not enjoy this book. It felt too slow to hold my interest even as I‘m a captive audience thanks to traffic.
Feel free to tell me the ending.
Not my usual genre, but I wanted to read both of these so when they were on my Library's New Release Shelf I grabbed them.
Finished While Justice Sleeps early this morning. For the most part I enjoyed it. Parts of it were hard to put down and it had a great ending. Legal/Science parts dragged for me but Legal Thrillers aren't my thing. If you like them, you probably like this one. ⬇️

Wow, what a edge-of-your-seat thriller. I really thought this was just a legal thriller and there is plenty of that. But this story has multiple layers and twists and turns as the story unfolds and concludes. What a great read!
#Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter Just Found a bunch of pictures that list which streaming services are showing which shows and movies. I can't do multiple.images so I'll have to do multiple posts. Please bear with me!
Here is a blog post by the folks at Librofm about the supply chain shortage and how it's gonna effect shopping during the holidays, which could effect swaps.

Maybe we should look.at swapping ebooks and audiobooks. For this winter? I have an idea of how that could be done if anyone wants to hear it. @Bookgoil
I really enjoyed this book. It reminded me of an early John Grisham-type thriller with short chapters that clipped along. Quick paced, fun read!
I don‘t think I‘ve ever read a legal thriller before, but I had to read this one because it‘s Stacey Abrams! It was a good introduction to the genre! It felt a little bit unnecessarily long and some plot aspects were confusing, but overall it kept my attention and it was an enjoyable listen with lots of twists and turns!
I was a really big fan of this book! I started reading it on Libby but decided I needed to buy it instead and I‘m so glad I did. It kept me hooked and wanting more the whole time. I heard it could be a series so I‘m really hoping it will! 🌟🌟🌟🌟!
This one was really good. This author (as if that's all she is) is amazing. If you enjoy a political thriller, this definitely gets my recommendation.
The book I‘m currently reading (tagged) isn‘t on my #bookspin board for August. Just filling the week gap to the end of the month. Going to Maryland in August so I‘m PRAYING for lots of good reading time. 📚 🦀
I really enjoyed this book. It was suspenseful and very well written. I wish the characters were a little more well rounded, but the book moved quickly and hooks you from the start.
3.5 stars, rounded up. I read this in 48 hours- page turning, fun, engaging. Perfect escapism reading. I have some critiques, but decided I‘d prefer to give them to her over a cup of coffee after I gushed for 30 minutes about how she is an American hero.
This was an entertaining political thriller which poses fascinating legal and ethical questions. There was some sections that dragged a bit (sections that talked about the science) but overall a great read. 4⭐️

Great choice for an airplane read. Fast-paced and quickly immersive. Law clerk Avery Keene must solve the puzzle left for her by Justice Wynn in order to prevent political machinations with a dark underbelly from upending a merger.
This was fun. It reminded me a lot of old John Grisham, with legal issues and government complications, and I liked that. I was not sure at all how it would end. I liked the main character so I am glad to know there will be a couple more books in this series.
It‘s 81 degrees in this building today - which is just a few degrees off what it is outside - so I‘m planning on trying to do as little as possible. 🤷🏻♀️ (While staying as hydrated as possible because I would very much like to avoid another heat-induced migraine. 😬) SO, it‘s time to dive back into Stacey Abrams‘ new book! 😍 #whilejusticesleeps #staceyabrams
A fun surprise as I‘m reading to come across my city in the story!
A couple of years ago someone here mentioned that if you sign up for Penguin Random house rewards and buy 10 (might be 12) you get a free book of your choice. This is my second one. Just arrived today.
I‘ve heard really good things about this one ☝️ #Scribd #LegalThriller #PoliticalThriller
Those who are comparing this to Dan Brown novels do Stacey Abrams a deep disservice. This book is much smarter and much more plausible and scarier, especially politically. I look forward to the coming Avery Keene thrillers. She is a heroine for our time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another of my recent reads: While Justice Sleeps by Stacey Abrams.
In short, a law clerk at the Supreme Court is tasked with exposing a corrupt president in a chess game for the ages.
I thought this was a great mash-up between political and legal thriller. The story was fleshed out, nicely-paced, and compelling. Wonderful dialogue scenes/exchanges. I also enjoyed the use of third-person omniscient viewpoint.

I don‘t usually read political thrillers but c‘mon, am I going to miss this one from Stacey Abrams, all around badass? No, indeed! And it‘s a lot of fun—well-written, well paced, and just a tiny bit outrageous at the end, but I‘ve decided to be ok with that. I recently read that she has a deal for 2 more books with her main character here and I can‘t wait!
Started this on Friday into the long weekend that ends today!☺️⚖️ is my profession!🇺🇸
Avery Keene is the law clerk for one of the Supreme Court justices, and when he falls into a coma, she finds herself named his legal guardian. She is thrown into international intrigue and a string of hidden documents that only she can solve.↘️
