Dollar store book haul; although none of them were actually a dollar.
I forgot to post about this one. I listened to it in the beginning of last month while I was building my bookshelves. It was okay, not bad but not really good either. I thought the main character was weirdly vapid for someone who was supposed to be an award winning journalist. Maybe it‘s just not my cup of tea.
“I hate these things,” Conley Hawkins said, gazing toward the newsroom‘s glass-encased conference room, where the rest of the staff was gathering.

📷 is from first day of Summer when I started this book. Took me awhile to get into it. Wasn't the fluffy 'Beach Read' I've come to expect from MKA. Tackles some serious things like how to convince G'mama to take her medicine and do what the doctor tells her. Also there is a character taking care of his mother who has dementia which was heartbreaking. At 472 pages, I think it could have been trimmed a bit. Liked it didn't love it. 😎
Evening isn't shaping up to have any reading time. I'm not going to be able to finish any of the 4 Books I'm currently reading.😏 Did manage several 🏳️🌈 reads, 6 books over 400 pages, and to keep up with all my Challenges this month. 📚 #mymonthinbooks
Mary Kay Andrews draws on her former career as a newspaper reporter for this murder mystery featuring a reporter returning to her small hometown town with her family and other unfinished business. I enjoyed it because my daddy ran just this kind of small town newspaper when I was growing up, but for others that may be less fun. The title is a bit of a misdirection and the story is not really sunny.
Conley Hawkin's new job as a big city reporter blows up and she returns to sleepy Floridian town of Silver Bay. The weekly little family-owned paper is barely surviving where Grayson, Conley's sister is managing editor. But sleepy Silver Bay wakes up when Conley witnesses a fiery accident where the driver was none other than a beloved congressman. Conley works the mysterious story and gets much more than she bargained for! A super summer read!
It just so happens one of my current reads has the #ocean on the cover. The story is just getting started but I think it will be fun. #boundtogetherjune

To tell the truth, I'm fine with all my usual Summer activities being canceled. Taking advantage of this to contemplate my commitments. What things do I truly want to return to? Plus staying home gives me more time to read!
Sorted through my Books this week and picked out what to read this Summer.

Family drama, Southern living, romance, scandal, greed, murder, mystery. It‘s all there in Mary Kay Andrews‘ newest book “Hello, Summer”. Perfect beach read. Fast-paced and suspenseful, it will keep you turning the pages. This is the third book I have read by this author and am convinced I need to read more of her books.
Would love to say HELLO to summer. :)
Good Luck.
