I didn't expect to like this book, tbh. I have a love-hate relationship with Marie Lu's books. I absolutely loved The Young Elites, i almost liked Warcross (xdxd) and i hated the Legend trilogy. But Wildcard was a great surprise. The first half was like Warcross for me, it didn't tell me anything. But the second half was pretty good. And the ending was perfect in my opinion, it was even realistic, which has been a big plus.

Day 24: #wildbooks

Wildcard is another Marie Lu book I‘m in love with!! All of Lu‘s series are phenomenal, and the cover of this one is so futuristically cool 😝👊🏻💥

Fun follow-up to Warcross. Near future video game inspired SF / YA that has a stronger story than Ready Player One (sans 80's nostalgia overload) and a female POC lead that doesn't constantly remind the reader that the main character IS a femaile POC. Emika Chen just is. Highly recommended.

WOWWWWW. I'm stunned. Marie Lu got me again with her beautiful dystopia. I'm so exhausted and brutalized by it 🤯 What a kickass start to #24B4Monday. One book down!

Now that Hideo‘s algorithm is affecting most of the population, Emika must work quickly in an uneasy alliance with Zero to stop him.

I don‘t know why, but this one was much harder to get into. And it felt really disjointed. There were lots of twists, but it felt like each one was chosen to stretch the plot out.

I wasn‘t any more invested in the romance than I was in book 1. Emika works best as a MC for me when she‘s with her friends. 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑

This book is great, at first few chapters it was a bit slow but after 5 or 7 chapters it become good story, i love the revelation at certain chapters, and also the last part. I think i'll #miss the nice characters in warcross and wildcard.

It only took me 1,000 years to read this. Unfortunately, I had the worst reading dry spell through the first 50% of this. I checked it out from the library multiple times. I‘m finally crawling out of my reading slump and happy to say that Marie Lu has done it again - this was such a great book and such a fitting conclusion to the series. I got chills at the ending! 🕹

I thought Warcross was great, though I would have liked more details on the game they were actually playing. I was a big fan of the romance surprisingly 😀😍 and I love this whole Ready Player One vibe

A good second instalment but I actually enjoyed the first book more than this one. Wildcard felt a little flat in certain areas and I felt that the main character lost a bit of her edge here but I did love the VR world building.

I went to BN this weekend to try and get some new books for my husband. I of course ended up wandering over to my section as well. I found a signed edition of wildcard, I'll wrap it and put it under the tree...
But I also was approched by a teenager who asked me if I could reccomend any books. I could see them trying to run away after the first 30 minutes of me gushing about the illumine files, the diabolic, ect. But I couldnt shut up!

Yes yes all of the yes! I love an author that knows how to end a series. Knows how to keep it suspensful and yet tie all the knots together. Lu did that with this novel! I had so many questions at the end of this book. I honeslty didn‘t know if she could do it. I am so happy that she was able to bring so many elements together to end this novel.

When AI & reality blur the lines of ethical behavior, Emika Chen, celebrity gamer, finds herself in a battle to save humanity while not knowing who to trust. The sequel to Warcross, this book was thought provoking & action packed as well as entertaining.

Because I didn‘t do enough damage earlier, I made a quick trip to B&N today, too. 😱 A couple of signed books and a couple of first-in-series, plus a mini-moleskin notebook. Oh, and I couldn‘t resist the HP Trivial Pursuit!!

Sequel to Warcross. It took me about 10 chapters to get back into Emika's world. It's hard for me...Marie Lu is a good writer and I understand the concept of everything she's describing but I can't picture this world she has created.

Marie Lu has become one of my favorite authors. The Warcross series is what pushed me over the edge. Her other series are great, but Warcross was a step above the rest. This is such a great series about virtual technology, but so much more. The relationships, the struggle between right and wrong, the tough decisions, the action. This book has it all! Love this series!
If you enjoyed "READY PLAYER ONE" read "WARCROSS"
