Finished my first book of 2020! What an enjoyable read! It had me laughing out loud at parts. While it was fun and quirky, I appreciated the more serious moments as well. It‘s rumored that Ryan Reynolds is to star as Don in the movie version & I think that‘s an excellent choice! I‘m eager to read more from Don and Rosie in The Rosie Effect!

The rather sweet and quirky story of Don and Rosie. Sweet on Rosie‘s part and definitely quirky on Don‘s. I enjoyed listening to the audible book and found myself grinning at Don‘s odd language and behavior on more than one occasion. I am thankful that Audibles chose it as their freebie this month and I will absolutely be getting the subsequent books.

Kaylamburson This is an audible freebie?? Where?? 4mo
Jhullie @Kaylamburson it‘s an extra through my Audible account. They pick one book each month as a bonus. Last month was The Dry. 4mo
Kaylamburson Omg really? I have never seen those options. Just the audible originals which are usually terrible lol 4mo

Oh this was a lovely story. I secretly fell a little bit in love with Don and his quirky ways. Really sad that I‘ve finished it. I‘m normally not a fan of stories like this but there was quite a hype over it so I gave it a go...and I‘m really glad I did😊 lovely story.

I loved everything in this novel up until the ending. Felt too rushed and I wanted to know about their wedding and all the other details which unfortunately were not included but instead just referred to.

This book had me laughing and smiling constantly. Don is so much like my partner I found myself reading out sections to him and then we would both laugh at how true it was. If you are looking for a book who‘s characters are real humans, is easy to read and makes you feel happy picking it up then this is the book for you! Lighthearted ✅ funny ✅ not one to forget ✅

The lovely @nerdcornerbooks recommended this one, and I'm glad she did. The Rosie Project is a pick for me, but a mild one. The plot was nothing spectacular, the writing fairly good, but the story unfolding through an autistic person's eyes was very different. I've worked with several people who thought like Don, so seeing it in narrative format really clarified how they thought.

I really appreciated how carefully Simsion crafted the first-person perspective to tell the reader things about Tillman that he didn't know himself, and really REALLY appreciated how he inverted the Grease storyline. But I couldn't help but wish he'd been a little more sensitive in the way he portrayed Tillman's symptoms of apparently-undiagnosed Aspergers. Charming and funny book about Professor who is on the spectrum looking for a life companion. I found the MC relatable (besides him not being able to do the same), and the story a bit predictable but charming. It was an easy and fun read. Recommend to those wanting a lighthearted book for summer.

This was a recommendation from a Summer Reading Guide. I appreciated that the author didn‘t treat his character negatively due to his non-neurotypical characteristics and it was quite cute to see him interacting with the love interest. It was probably even more funny to me because I not only know people like the main character, I probably am the main character sometimes. 😂

In The Rosie Project, Graeme Simsion brilliantly develops his protagonist Don, a scientist who had difficulty with social situations. Don has decided that he should find a wife, and he develops a survey that he thinks will identify the perfect woman. Meanwhile, Rosie enters his life. (continued in comments)

UnabridgedPod While the book is a romance, it's more about the vivid articulation of Don's perspective and thoughts as his logical assumptions about the world are challenged. Can't wait to discuss this one in our Unabridged May Book Club! 9mo

This book was absolutely brilliant! I‘m so annoyed I didn‘t read it earlier. The writing is so clever & I love how the book changed my perspective (without me even realising it at times). I loved that it was set in Melbourne, Australia (where I live!) & I loved most of the characters, which is rare for me!

I‘m keen to get stuck into the second book, The Rosie Effect, although I‘ve heard it‘s not as good.
