I had heard a lot of good things about this book, but put it on my TBR pile for a long time. I finally gave it a chance and was sorry it took so long to get to. The story was really enjoyable, the plot was fast-paced, and I really liked the main character, she has spunk. I'm really looking forward to the next audiobook. The narration on this one was good.

I thought I'd show you guys some eye candy. This is my Kindle cover. I got it on Etsy. It's made from a discarded book from the 1700s called "An Enchanted Fate: Antique Fairy Tales" by Charles Perrault. I just love this cover, it really inspires me to read more! ♥️

Eggs Gorgeous 👏🏻👏🏻 4w
librarygoddess619 @Eggs The inside is just as nice, it has a fantastic quote by Walt Disney! ♥️ 3w

Continuing the magic theme. 😁 Is it a sign I want to be able to escape something? 😂🤣😂 Only the heat, friends. So far, it's my cup of tea. 👏👏👏

This was an interesting audiobook. I am not normally intrigued by detective stories, but because this is set in a school for magic, I was in. I'm glad I gave it a shot. It was a quick listen because of the pace of the story.

Slogging through this one. Almost done...the audiobook version. It's a commitment, not sure it's worth it. It's just so long and slow in parts.

I've been interested in Buddhist thinking for a while now. I picked this journal up because it looked interesting. It's got a lot of thought-provoking prompts. I'll write a review after a few weeks of use.

This has potential but was just about 400 pages too long. I couldn't finish it. I don't mind long books, but this one was taking too long to get to the meat of the story. The writing isn't horrible, just drawn out.

Heartbreaking, beautiful, but a little slow towards the end. Worth reading for sure.

Multi-generational tale of a Korean family living in Japan. Complicated family relationships. Really good. I recommend.

Girl, let's be honest. This book was terrible. I don't know how it got such good reviews on Amazon, I found it to be lacking in substance and preachy. The author has to constantly remind you that she is a good Christian girl and it gets old real quick. I couldn't get past the sixth chapter and frankly, I'm surprised I made it that far. I'm glad I borrowed this from the library instead of wasted my money on it. I learned nothing.

I really enjoyed the story and the characters. This is a very character-driven book. That's not to say that the plot is weak, it is not. It's just that Ward is masterful at writing intriguing characters. I highly recommend this book in audiobook format, which is the version I experienced.

I listened to the audiobook version of this. It's worth listening to/reading but the author goes off on unrelated tangents that might be helpful to some people but I found it annoying. The advice on motivation was solid and can be applied in many situations.

I picked up this at the comic book shop at the mall. I am enjoying it so far, I'm about 60% done. I went ahead and bought another of his graphic novels, "My Friend Dahmer" because this one is so enjoyable. #graphicnovels #comics #sliceoflife #humor

Crucial in these times. It's a beautiful, well-done graphic novel. That's all that I have to say.

Ok, I switched things up. I was feeling a little off so I went to the dark side: one of Clive Barker's short story collections, the Books of Blood v. 1-3, which was mentioned in one of the panels I attended at Comic-Con International this weekend. We'll see how this goes. I'm not opposed to horror if it is well-written. Here's a quote for you from the book. Wow.

I had the absolute pleasure of attending a panel at Comic-Con International this past Saturday to hear Roxane Gay speak at a Q & A session. The room was packed and she held us all spellbound. You might be able to find the session on YouTube. She was brilliant and funny and genuine, just like I thought she would be.

Feeling the female power with my Wonder Woman nails reading Uprooted. I hope this doesn't turn into a book where the wizard saves the bumbling female apprentice, I want a strong female to lead this book (I'm on page 94 so not sure how it's going to go yet).

I was worried that all the hype of this book would ruin it for me but it didn't. Hunger is raw and painful in parts, and almost humorous in others. Gaye gives a voice to a not often hard from group in a very real and honest way. This book is an important and recommended read. Brava, Roxane!
