Such a good read!! A wild rollercoaster ride!

I chose a back list from 2018. I love the descriptions of the Alaskan wilderness. It's a great story, but the domestic violence is hard to read about.
This was a tough book, but it was a good book!!! The story was one that needed to be told. I rated this book a 4 out of 5 stars!!!

Thanks for the tag, @Eggs !
1. The Nickel Boys
2. No, but I am subscribed to an audiobook service (Libro.fm).
3. Tagged. It‘s set during winter in Alaska.
Oooof, this one hit my in the gut. I cried more times than I could count. Happy tears, sad tears, frustrated tears, complicated tears... all of the tears! Hannah has an amazing capacity for cresting characters with so much depth and range of emotion. I have been in love with Alaska for a long time. This book reminded me why it is on my bucket list.
I have an endless amount of books and audiobooks on my TBR but I‘m rereading one of my favourites for at least the tenth time #typical
"????? ??? ??? ???? ??????? ?? ?? ????. ???? ?????? ???? ?????? ?????? ?? ???? ?????? ?? ?????? ????? ????. ?‘?? ??? ?????. ??????????. ??? ?? ???? ?? ? ??? ????????, ????? ???? ???? ?? ???? ?????."
Why do I get the feeling this isn't going to be a 'and they all lived happily ever after' book? Heading into the final third.
Also pictured, my 14-year-old, well worn Salty Dawg saloon hoodie. This pub features in the book.
And thanks to @squirrelbrain for giving me this book.
I feel this would make a good TV series. Can‘t recall a TV show ever being filmed in Alaska.

Books are the mile markers of my life .. she wrote .. and I felt the same .. Hiding into books when life seems too much to handle .. and searching books for advice given without judging .. my sanity amongst my chaos .. my companion in solitude .. my guide when I am lost .. I wander so much through books but I am never lost !
A very interesting book which explores the landscape of the wilderness of Alaska along with a plot of young love and domestic violence. The descriptions of Alaska alone are worth reading.
Here's my updated #bookspin I just finished The Great Alone and I cannot express how wonderful the book was! I had so many emotions reading it, and the last 150 pages were so tragic that it was hard to read, but well worth it.
@TheAromaofBooks
The Allbright family run away to Alaska to start life over. No one is happy in the family, until thirteen- year- old Leni meets Matthew. We watch their friendship grow into romance. The last 150 pages is one tragedy after another. Even though there is much tragedy in this book, the author ties it up in a pretty bow by the end of the novel. We not only hear a story of wilderness survival, but also one of unfaultering love. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I need some motivation to start reading again! This #bigjunereadathon I am going to set a goal of reading 6 books. I have already read 1. @Clwojick
My attempt at making a #bookspin Hopefully I did it right. @TheAromaofBooks
Would someone explain to me what #thebookspin #bookspin game is? I'd like to play! #bookspinbingo
@TheAromaofBooks
I seriously think that there is no other character in any book I've read recently that I despise as much as Ernt Allbright. I'm not done yet, but as of page 161, I can't stand him!
What characters get under your skin?

"The truth was that the biggest danger of all was in her own house (126)."
What other novels have you read and enjoyed that have the same theme of drinking/drug/domestic abuse throughout them? How do the main characters come to terms with this?

A story of courage, love, & sacrifice… one I wished wouldn‘t end but once it did, was inspiring and satisfying

“For as long as I can remember, books have been my safe place.” Lenora Allbright ~ The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah.
A story that resonated so deeply, it took me back to childhood. This is a story of love between a mother and daughter, finding courage, making difficult choices to survive against all odds, and redemption. Kristin Hannah has never failed to make me reflect on my own life and ask the important questions, “How can I apply this to my life.”
Her books are not only entertaining but deeply moving. #kristinhannah #alaska #courage #thegreatalone
The good ones will be taken care of. Bad apples rot all by themselves. Another great read by Kristin Hannah!!
One of the most compelling, heart wrenching, tear jerking, breath taking reads - EVER! Easily one of my top 5 faves! The way the author gave each character a background story and how each characters story intertwined. The last 20+ chapters, I literally had a book light on and couldn't STOP reading. I was on the edge of my seat!
Wonderful! Perfect for #audiogardening It felt expansive, beautiful, and dangerous. Just like the Alaskan wilderness where it is set. The writing is gorgeous, just like every Hannah book I‘ve read. I listened on #audio though I‘ve owned the book since it was released. Glad I finally got to it! #MountTBR #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
A beautiful story. Paints Alaska to be a land of familial grace and loyalty. Easy and quick read!!
I listened to the audio and it was so good. The descriptions were amazing, and I was pulled right in, and I stayed interested all the way through (except one short section toward the end that wasn‘t quite as engrossing). I loved some of the secondary characters, especially Large Marge. This is likely to make my favourites this year
The Great Alone 4.5🌟
I love Kristen Hannah's historical fiction, but they're just brutal. I was in tears.
Starting Before the coffee gets cold today.
#ThingsinCommon both books deal with regrets and second chances. @Clwojick
Enjoying some me time and finishing up this book. Definitely a pick. Wow!! Loved it.

1. I can‘t remember finishing any ebooks last year, so my longest audiobook was The Great Alone at 15 hours.
2. Yes. Just the size alone intimidates me. I also avoid borrowing chunksters from the library because I know I won‘t finish them in time.
If you‘re reading this, consider yourself tagged.

A heart-wrenching story of survival in one of the worlds toughest climates, where there were dangers in every dark corner of the forest- and an even bigger monster in their own home. This book left me gutted, but the ending was one everyone deserved. ❤️ Just read it.
Thanks so much to @Read4life for recommending this book to me for my #12Challenge! This was exactly what I needed right now. My first Kristin Hannah book and not my last! What an emotional roller coaster I went on! Her parents made me so upset, especially her dad. I find people who can live on the land so fascinating (why I watch the tv show Alone). I could never do it, but I definitely enjoy reading about it!
In 1974, this surprises me.
This reminds me of when my father in law recently said to my husband, “Oh, I saw you bought Mikala a new jeep.” And my husband‘s response was, “Um no, she bought it herself. She makes her own money.”
1. The tagged book. 2. Read books that promote self-care, which is all of them!3. Cuddly blankets! 😊. Thanks for asking me to play, @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick and @Eggs
“You know what they say about finding a man in Alaska—the odds are good, but the goods are odd.”
#unpopular opinion
The Great Alone: I listened to this during the storming of the capitol in January, and just couldn‘t take the unrelenting suffering.
The Girl in the Mirror: There was too much I couldn‘t buy into, and the main character really grated on me.
The Cracked Spine: Just a big letdown because it had all the things I love. The protagonist was interrogative in an annoying way. But it‘s the first in a series and I would read others.
I‘ve read page turners- yet this is a page turner that I had to scream, walk away for a few minutes, and jump back in. Favorite Hannah book. 13 year old Leni moves to Alaska in the mid 70s, with her father with post Vietnam PTSD and mother who still loves the man she met prior to the war. Leni and her family learn how to live in the ‘Great Alone‘ with all the neighborly support it brings. Love, toxicity, and danger all around. #doublespin for Nov
