BookExpo is the publishing industry‘s primary annual convention for professonials in and associated with books: booksellers, librarians, book bloggers, audiobook engineers, literary agents, etc. BookCon is the open-to-the-public portion of the convention which occurs during the weekend. Anyone can attend and meet authors, get books signed, buy merchandise, network, etc. (edited) 5y

It‘s primarily the US publishing industry, but there‘s many other countries represented, especially China, Japan, and the U.K., who can have quite a few large booths. The convention‘s organizers had a plan to rotate among various large US cities, but after trying it in Chicago a couple years ago with less-than-anticipated results, the convention may wind up remaining in NYC as it has. Alright, #BookCon, I‘m out! #BookExpo and BookCon were a blast this year! Plenty more pics & memories to share. 😁

I get a bit choked up when this moment inevitably comes *sighs*. In the real world, only w/ #BEA & Litsy meetups do I come across such a passionate group of fellow readers and the authors who give us the biblio-food we crave. Book clubs get casual readers. Many librarians don‘t read much—it‘s a job that happens to deal with books.

LibrarianRyan @cathysaid @tpixie @Tanisha_A @kimba7 this is one of my FAV things. NO ROLLERS on the floor (some get medical permission). ALA which is just as big allows rollers and it‘s a nightmare!!!!! Heck even small con PennedCon in STL allows rollers and you trip over them constantly. Ughhhh. However Printers Row is a street fest and a wagon is probably a nice thing. 5y

TheSpineView Since I flew and didn't want to wheel books around the city I did the "open box" with FedEx. So big room with boxes and you off load as needed. When box is full ship and get a new box. I have already shipped over 50 pounds of books!? 5y

LibrarianRyan @TheSpineView wow. Can I ask how much. When we wanted to ship fedex from Chicago it was over $50 a box. I just bought a box and walked everything to the closest USPS. 5y
