Read this back in July & absolutely loved it!
It's a story about two opposites who must work together in a small town PA restaurant. Greg is an extroverted bartender who left his extravagant NYC life behind after getting into too much debt. Julian is an introverted sommelier whose OCD makes it hard for him to accept change & let anyone close. Once they get over their initial skepticism of each other, they strike up a friends w benefits situation⬇️

peanutnine Their relationship was so sweet (and sexy). Greg has erectile dysfunction due to mental health meds and Julian struggles with cleanliness bc of his OCD. They both meet each other with openness & compassion, growing and working through trauma. It's very much a character driven story (they're trying to save the family restaurant, did I mention that?) and they each have to decide what it means to find a home #14books14weeks #LGBTQIA2025 @Kenyazero 14h

When I first started this book, it seemed like the wife and mistress were going to end up together, and that felt weird to me. But now that I've read a bit, it seems to have a Love Actually type setup where there are multiple storylines overlapping so everyone gets their own love interest. So I'm enjoying it more. Finishing my journey with Miss Marple with this collection of all her short stories. I didn't realize that Marple was first introduced to the world in short story form & it was really interesting to read these. I enjoyed finally witnessing Sir Henry's meeting the unassuming old woman and his surprise & awe of her hidden talents for solving mysteries. This collection also contains her final cases & I will definitely miss her quiet efficiency

I stumbled upon this comic by accident & it was free to read on the author's website so I read it in a day 🙃
Really cute story about two single moms who learn to lean on each other & eventually embrace their connection. Imogen is a mother of four who finds the courage to leave her toxic relationship & figure out who she is outside of parenthood. Alex is a lesbian who chose to do motherhood alone but is now struggling with ⬇️

I read the first Cambric Creek book a while back but finally decided to continue the series.
I thought this one was just okay. I loved Merrick the shy mothman & his anatomy was... interesting. But the romance between him and Grace fell a little flat to me & there was a lack of communication that annoyed me. I did enjoy spending more time in this monster small town. If you're looking for low-stakes & high horniness, this is for you

Fanny: A Mansfield Park Story | Amelia Marie Logan

Pickpick

Thank you @bookandbedandtea for bringing this Mansfield Park story to my attention. I really enjoyed it. I always thought that Henry Crawford seemed to be redeemable and this alternate ending allowed him the growth to achieve it and become a decent character. I was also not-so-secretly satisfied with Edmund's ultimately unhappy marriage to Mary. He was always so blind to her faults that it makes sense he would think he could change her and fail
⬇️

peanutnine I've decided that this is now how Mansfield Park ends, at least in my head 😅 #JaneAustenThenAndNow @Crinoline_Laphroaig 2d
Ruthiella I‘d have preferred this ending too. I guess I like to believe in the redeemable bad boy. 😂 2d
Crinoline_Laphroaig Love this! 2d
bookandbedandtea @peanutnine @Ruthiella I agree that I much prefer this ending! I always felt that Henry came to see Fanny more clearly than anyone & I think they would have been very happy together under the right circumstances. Which would have to be: a lot of soul searching on Henry's part & Edmund's continued belief that his influence would erase those aspects of Mary that concerned him. 😄 In this book, I think all four of them ended up where they should! 2d

Okay, I picked this up on a whim and it blew me away! Such a delightful, audacious, and sexy romp of a story!
What starts as mistaken identity leads to adventures in espionage and a fake relationship, as Lydia and Arthur try to track down his brother who has been posing as the Earl. As things heat up, the two are thrust out of their comfort zones and find comfort in each other. I loved both of their character arcs so much! And the audiobook was 🔥

Such a thrilling conclusion to this dystopian duology. The avatars of New York have come into their powers, but the threat looming above Staten Island still needs to be defeated. The enemy has infiltrated the city in new & insidious ways, promoting harsh political division & hate that is scarily reminiscent of our current society. Despite (or maybe bc of) the disturbing parallels, the story is one of hope & standing together against a common enemy

This was such an informative and lovely book. Tyson uses science to bring perspective to the most divisive topics of our civilization, such as religion, race, gender, war. Such a broad perspective brings a new outlook on priorities when we look at the universe as a whole. My only complaint is that those who most need to hear it won't ever pick up this book

I read this duology with my bookclub - we all enjoyed them but some were upset at the way things were left unfinished at the end of book one. Which, fair, this is very much a story that was split into two parts. But I liked the way that split left the tone of each book separate. Clockwork Boys is very much a travel quest story where you get to know the characters as they get to know each other on the way to their mission. Wonder Engine ⬇️

peanutnine is the sleuthing and tracking and fighting they must do to try and accomplish their mission. I love this whole magical world that Kingfisher has built (the same as her Paladin series) and the characters and their banter was so much fun. #SeriesLove2025 2w

So, full review time. I liked that Mansfield Park was an art emporium and Fanny a burgeoning artist. The death of Sir Thomas was sad but a great motivator for all of the selfish habits of the family to come to light. I suspected the murderer from the beginning but the whole motive wasn't overly obvious either. I enjoyed the slight change in Mary Crawford, to be more sympathetic & trying to gain real friendship with Fanny. The ending was satisfying

I'm late posting my answers but enjoyed listening to this one again! #JaneAustenThenAndNow @Crinoline_Laphroaig

1. This was my second time reading. It's probably still my least favorite Austen but I did enjoy it much more this time around. I still believe Fanny deserved better than Edmund.

(cont'd)⬇️

peanutnine 2. I don't know about favorite, but I appreciated Sir Thomas more. He really changes when he returns and seems to genuinely care for Fanny, even if he shows it poorly.
Least favorite is definitely Mrs. Norris, she's a manipulative shrew.
3. I weirdly love the scene when Mr. Rushworth is complaining to Fanny about his lines in the play. He's such a silly character who means well.
4. I don't know that I have one
⬇️
3w
peanutnine 5. I always imagined it to be social anxiety or something because she never seems to be actually ill
6. See above - I would listen to Mr Rushworth rehearsing. At least that is amusing
7. Mrs Norris, Maria Bertram/Rushworth, and Henry Crawford. Hopefully they'll annoy each other for eternity
⬇️
3w
peanutnine 8. My biggest takeaway this time was how I admire Fanny for her steadfastness and not swaying her opinion so easily. She has a stronger character than me. I feel like I might have succumbed to Mr Crawford's pursuit at the first sign of change 3w
