I really liked this one, and I was completely hungry the entire time I read it! 😂

Despite some continuity issues in the narration, this was quite an enjoyable first in the series, set in Ashland, Oregon, home to a famous Shakespeare festival. And, of course, lots of baking. Jules Capshaw seems like a down to earth heroine going through some tough times and moves back home to the family bakery. Murder, secrets, and love conflicts abound.

I really enjoyed this multi cast audio book about the disappearance of a teenage girl during a family Caribbean vacation. Told mostly through the voice of her younger sister we also hear from other‘s who were on the island at the time. #Booked23 # SunshineNoir #52Books #publishedbyMacMillan

Cinfhen I thought this was really well done 👍🏽 10mo

Mehso-so

2nd month in a row that I start off with a meh book. If it wasn‘t so short I probably would have dropped it.
It‘s a futuristic retelling of the Sophocles play Antigone. Perhaps I would have enjoyed this more if I‘d read the play first. 🤷🏻‍♀️
On the bright side, it does complete a challenge prompt and it has inspired me to had the play to my TBR mountain.

#BlackHistoryMonth Loving this memoir about a daughter of #Haitian immigrants who was born into poverty but had an abundance of street smarts. A natural hustler, Cin was always scheming and scamming finding creative ways to earn money. Deciding college was an expense she couldn‘t afford, Cin chooses to apply for a job on Wall Street as a cold caller. Think a female Jordan Belfort 🐺

A woman wakes up in a hotel in Lisbon and discovers her husband is missing. She doesn‘t know the city nor the language when she sets out to find him, a man she doesn‘t seem to know that well either.
What follows is an interesting thriller, involving themes of today‘s online connected world and the ever present one of women‘s vulnerability (written about by a man, not bad). Filled with twists this book made for a good read

Finished this one while #audiopuzzling on a dreary Oklahoma day. My first MKA! It was a super cute romantic mystery about a house flip TV program that turns into a whodunnit. I enjoyed it even if it didn‘t knock my socks off. It was a little saccharine and I figured out the guilty party pretty early on. But it was lots of fun nonetheless. #bookspin #52bookclub23 #publishedbymacmillan

I read this years ago but didn‘t remember it well, and now have the following two. Along similar lines as Nat Enough, but with the added punch of being fictionalized autobiography, Shannon‘s struggles with friendship in elementary school were heartbreaking yet hopeful. The mean girls, the loners, the ones too big for their situations - they‘re all here. Shannon can be less than ideal herself, but that‘s pretty honest. Looking forward to more.
