Mehso-so

I didn‘t like our #IndependentWomen #buddyread as much as most others seem to, unfortunately.
The dystopian world never felt even close to plausible, it made really no sense to me.
The second part I caught myself skimming, and rolling my eyes.
Only the third part I did enjoy. Without saying too much, I thought the ending was cool and I loved Jo‘s character and friendships. Looking forward to discussing it on March 5!

jenniferw88 That doesn't bode well for me - I'm not a huge dystopia fan! I blame school for this as my A level coursework involved comparing 1984, Brave New World and The Handmaid's Tale. I didn't like a single one of them! 1y
Librarybelle I‘m waiting for my copy to arrive! 1y

Cinfhen Oh no! Eye rolls is NEVER a good sign 🙄I‘ll be starting this weekend….. 1y
Cinfhen Fabulous photo 🤩🤩🤩 1y
vlwelser I may have oversold this a tiny bit, but I didn't want to discourage anyone from reading it. I do think the discussion will be interesting. 1y
BarbaraBB @jenniferw88 Those were books I liked so maybe this one is totally up your alley! I hope so!! 1y
BarbaraBB @vlwelser I think so too, about the discussion. And I don‘t think you oversold it, there are so many good reviews here on Litsy! 1y
TrishB Oh dear! But they always make for great discussions. 1y
Amiable I just finished it. I have the exact same response as you did. 1y
dabbe @jenniferw88 Good lord! Did you have to read all 3 during the same term? That would cause me to implode! 🤣 1y
squirrelbrain Great review! My copy just arrived today so I‘ll get to it soon. On paper it doesn‘t sound like my kind of book, but we‘ll see and I always love our discussions anyway. 1y
jenniferw88 @dabbe if I remember correctly (over 10 years ago now), no - it was over a school year. 1y
jenniferw88 @BarbaraBB have you read this one? I liked that one! 1y
BarbaraBB @TrishB @squirrelbrain Yes! It‘ll be great anyhow. Lots to discuss! (edited) 1y
BarbaraBB @jenniferw88 I hated it 😂😂 So there‘s really a big chance you‘ll enjoy this one! 1y
Lindy How nice to see a shot of Estepona! It was the nearest town to where I was WWOOFing in Spain in 2002… brings back memories. 1y
BarbaraBB @Lindy How cool that you did that! Where were you staying? 1y
Lindy @BarbaraBB The farm is called Finca La Mohea and it‘s about 30 km inland from Estepona, in the mountains. The nearest village is Genalguacil. 1y

Pickpick

A woman wakes up in a hotel in Lisbon and discovers her husband is missing. She doesn‘t know the city nor the language when she sets out to find him, a man she doesn‘t seem to know that well either.
What follows is an interesting thriller, involving themes of today‘s online connected world and the ever present one of women‘s vulnerability (written about by a man, not bad). Filled with twists this book made for a good read
