These are beautifully illustrated stories that teach simple lessons of love, friendship, forgiveness to young children. McCarty is a great story teller who keeps his writing clear and relevant for his audience. Great bedtime stories.

Son has made a great reading spot choice! 👍🏾👍🏾 For a picky reader, he has liked every James Patterson book.

JacqMac I have a picky reader, too. It‘s great when they find something they love. 20h

1. Tagged - Jim Kjelgaard was a fave growing up; he made me want to live in a cabin in the woods with only my dogs for company!
2. I'm not sure. Flying, maybe??
3. Libra
4. Work on our remodeling project in the morning, then spend the afternoon reading!!!
5. Can't wait to see what everyone else has to say. :-D

Very interesting listen. This story has some twists I wasn‘t expecting. It has themes of friendship, loss, human & pet relationships and writing. Trigger warning for theme of suicide. 3.5⭐️

If you took RL Stevenson's Treasure Island and crossed it with George Stewart's Earth Abides and added The Incredible Journey, this is just what you'd get. Very, very good. And also: DOGS.
A lot of the fun is in all the apocalyptic novels the protagonist has read. He reads a lot, as does his family - his father believes in "Liebowitzing" - keeping knowledge from past civilizations safe and passing it on, from the book A Canticle for Leibowitz. ?

rretzler Loved A Canticle for Leibowitz! 2d
Aimeesue @rretzler I love post-apoc stories. It gives one something to appreciate. Even when the present- day world seems to be going to hell in a handbasket, they remind you that there are still good things in it that we haven't yet lost. 2d
rretzler @Aimeesue They are also some of my favorites. I love any kind of dystopian novel in general, for the same reason. 2d

My husband's coworker bought me this for my birthday and even though I already read it, I didn't have a copy so I'm really excited to get this going again. We're trying to read this at the same time so I'll sneak it in amid the others!!

I took a picture of One Good Dog with three good dogs! They are all rescues but Captain Skippyjon Jones on the left is the only one from the animal #shelter.
If you love dogs you will probably love this book too. One of the characters has to volunteer at a homeless shelter. Lots of character development and pit bull love.

I picked up this one because I live about an hour north of Biloxi and we drive down pretty regularly. So it was neat to read about a place I am so familiar with. This book is written as a kind of stream of consciousness of a 64 year old recently divorced and retired man. It's not a happy feel good book at all, but I found myself having a lot of sympathy for the main character.
