Finished Abhorsen. It was really good. I think the pacing was right and the ending wrapped the series up very well. I did want to know about what happened with the characters afterward but I think that would have been the case no matter where it ended.

Finished three audiobooks and a graphic novel for June. Really enjoyed all of them, but wanted to highlight Abhorsen bc I picked this series up for a light reread and ended up absolutely loving Tim Curry as narrator. If you have or haven't read this excellent little (classic?) YA or middle grade fantasy trilogy, the audiobook is highly recommended.

While I try to get all this work stuff figured out I‘m relaxing and de-stressing in the land of the Abhorsen where the dead walk and plan to take control over the living, or at least that‘s what seems to be happening currently.....

In other news, I changed my username name to one that feels like it fits my reading better.

I love this series. This is the final book in the old kingdom trilogy. It has a rollercoaster of emotion. It keeps growing the characters and the world it is in without taking away from the story. If you haven't read the series you need to.

Abhorsen is the sequel to Lirael and the third book in Nix's Old Kingdom series. My favorite part about it is how Nix reveals the origins of the Charter, the magic system in the series. This book has a great cast of characters, humor, adventure, and plenty of heart.

The third book in the Old Kingdom Chronicles by Nix. This was definitely my favorite. It was awesome seeing all of the characters from the previous books finally align in the story and kick ass together. Again, very impressive character development, especially with the main characters Sam and Lirael. I just started Goldenhand, the newest book in the series, because the story STILL has me hooked. These characters are my life right now, lmao.

It's finally cooled down here in NE so I'm doing some #audiocleaning. Dusting fans and baseboards, cleaning linens and airing everything out! Thank goodness this book is good and helps the time go by 😊

Centique Love these! 2y
AlaMich I enjoyed these, though occasionally got a little confused by the magic systems 2y
Scurvygirl It was like a magical cool down overnight! River climbed under the covers and snuggled all night! 2y
Yeah_I_Read @Scurvygirl yes!!! @AlaMich I started out reading them but ended up listening to the audio which made it a bit less confusing 😊 and it's narrated by Tim Curry 😍 2y

I still have some mixed feelings about this book. It felt a bit slow to start but I really love Lirael and she was one of the main players so I enjoyed that I lot. This book was a lot more political than the other two which didn't interest me as much. Overall a good read but wasn't so fond of the ending.

Look it's Mogget and the Disreputable Dog!

This was a good third part to a great series. I think I liked Book 1 and 2 the best, but only because that's when all my favourite characters were introduced. This one is a good page turner, with a fast pace and plenty of action. Definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes fantasy or is looking to try the genre. It's very accessible to newbies 😊

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I read these last year and loved them too, I also was excited when I heard there were more. I'm hoping to get to both of them this year. 3y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Centique, I can't think of the name of my bell - but I was so shocked to win a door raffle that I almost didn't collect it 😳 3y
JazzFeathers I bought the entire serues years ago, around the time it came out. Haven't gotten around reading it yet 😶 3y
Centique Thanks @Riveted_Reader_Melissa for answering! 3y
Centique @JazzFeathers oh they're great. It's a world split in two by a wall - on one side a world of technology, somewhat like ours - in the other side a world of magic, a rich history of good magic fighting dark magic. You get both the good vs evil magic plus the differences between the two sides of the wall. Really great characters too. Hope you enjoy! 3y
Centique @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I never win things either! A bit of a shock for sure. Glad you got it in the end 😊 3y

Pretty sure this is my third post in the past month about the Disreputable Dog. But seeing as she really is my #favoriteanimalsidekick, I had to post about her again for the #Novemberland challenge. The DD takes such great care of Lirael, who so desperately needed a friend.

Abby-J @Rituleenreads I read Goldenhand last month. It was pretty great. It does a good job tying the events of Clariel back into the main storyline. 3y

What a great conclusion to this part of the story! I'm thrilled to know there is a prequel out there I can read and a new release coming soon (or just recently released). I loved seeing characters from the first book and many of the newer characters from book two appear, but as always I have my favorites in the Disreputable Dog and Mogget. Another great adventure, many close calls, last minute saves, tears and losses, and pleasant surprises.👍👍

oonaghmoon Great pick! I remember reading this for the first time and loving every page ❤ 3y

Some of my #readathon piles to pick from. Hopefully work on or finish the ones I've already started (top row), and then read some of the others that are due to be returned soon, due for book clubs but I haven't read yet, or that have just been hanging out on my TBR list and I really want to get to them soon. #DeweysReadathon

Second #sidekick post. It's so hard to find awesome sidekicks who aren't a white guy paired with a white guy or a POC weirdly subservient to a white guy. When I finally thought of one that I love, I needed to post her. The Disreputable Dog is one of my favorite characters in any fantasy setting ever. She is so kind and encouraging to Lirael, but she's free with the tough love, too. Everyone needs a best friend like the Disreputable Dog. #booktober

[DELETED] 1250735911 This was my favorite book of the series--so happy to see the Disreputable Dog get some love ❤️️ 3y

Abby-J @lindsayreads It's literally my favorite YA fantasy series of ever. The second of the trilogy is one of my favorite books period. I'm pretty sure that @violentecstasy and I became "real friends" in part because we bonded over our love for these books. Not to hype them up or anything. 3y

#mapsinbooks I'm not living anywhere in the Old Kingdom that's not near running water. I'm not living in any parts of Ancelstierre that are on the map either. I don't want my cat getting any ideas from Mogget. #somethingforsept

elkeo_TheBookDragon You have a great plan! 3y
lilycobalt @elkeo About as good as it can be, since you can't do any serious damage against the Dead without bells, which they don't hand out on street corners. The next step, then, would be to learn some Charter marks. 3y
