I haven‘t read this, but it was in a publisher‘s newsletter this morning. I immediately thought of all the cat lovers in this group, so I thought I‘d bring it to your attention. And there‘s a sequel. I think it‘s “We‘ll Prescribe You Another Cat.” (No pets here-allergies 🤧) #CatsOfLitsy #cats
Up next.
I‘m not sure if this is the perfect time, or the worst time in my life to read this book. I guess I‘ll see.

I‘ve been listening to this book, but I‘m so confused about the last few minutes. What do you all think is going on at the end? If you respond, don‘t forget the spoiler button.
Really loved this book, & I‘m sure I‘ll buy the physical copy when it‘s in paperback. Also, just saw there‘s a sequel coming out in Sept—yay! Heartwarming, sad, hopeful, with some cat antics in each story. Told in 5 stories, each person is prescribed a cat. 👇
I would like to start by saying that I correctly predicted that the nurse and doctor were cats! It was a heartwarming set of vignettes. Several stories of people come to this clinic for the soul and being prescribed cats. I like that the stories worked toward the discovery at the end that they were cats themselves once who were on a mission to give cats homes and help people along the way.
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Whimsical and strange in the way that a lot of books translated from Japanese are. Short interconnected stories about people struggling with something, who come to Kokoro Clinic for the Soul and receive strange remedies for their problems. Set in Kyoto and it was cute and lighthearted. Loved the illustrations.
Felt a little repetitive but I raced through it in two days, so a low pick from me.
This is such a sweet book. It is a series of stories loosely held together by cats. Each one feels a little more odd than the previous one, until the end which I was kind of but not really expecting. Still, it‘s never completely spelled out what‘s going on. But it‘s not NOT explained. You just have to read between the whiskers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved the art and the name of this book…it seems Japanese folks have a knack for writing about the relationships between cats and humans. Here, a mysterious clinic that looks in disarray (with no address), only appears when you need it…and they don‘t prescribe pharmaceuticals; they ‘prescribe cats‘! Each person that walks into the ‘clinic for the soul‘ comes out with a cat—and eventually goes back in, and out again…with a changed life.
Quite bizarre and somewhat original/different, but the book leaves you feeling hopeful and inspired. Main idea - an interpretation of “What is meant to happen will happen“ ;)
A perfect love letter to cats 🐈⬛ it was wonderful! I especially liked how each story didn‘t dismiss or resolve the person‘s problems, but rather showed how a slight perspective shift and some changes made it easier for them to cope and live with the way they were feeling.
It was also cool to see how the magic worked within the book. I really love these soft, cozy, and reflective Japanese books.
Today‘s book haul from Barnes & Noble, thanks to a gift card from a friend. Books make the best gifts, and bookstore gift cards are even better! 😄📚🎁
Sorry for the late post. Thank you @TexReader for this #jolabokaflodswap24 book. I've been wanting this one for quite a while. I feel I may need some tissues though.
This book began really great for me and I liked the first couple of stories in the narration. However, towards the middle, the book became cutesy and lost the sharpness and psychological insight of the first half of the book. The narration is outstanding and kept me going, I might not have finished the printed book
3 Stars • We'll Prescribe You a Cat by Syou Ishida, translated by E. Madison Shimoda, centers on the Kokoro Clinic for the Soul in Kyoto, which uniquely uses cats for healing. This book blends magical realism with themes of companionship, showcasing how cats can profoundly affect human lives. ⬇️
We'll Prescribe You A Cat is a cut above some of the other Japanese best-sellers that have found their way onto Anglophone shelves lately, more nuanced and layered. It‘s sweet without being cloying, and insightful without being heavy-handed. Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/well-prescribe-you-a-cat-syou-ishida/

It also helped me finish my goodreads goal early! 💜
Super cute book. Little stories about kitties and their effect on people's mental health :) I loved it! -- This was a very thoughtful book present from my hubby. I was kinda surprised I got a random book present the other day.
