This is a #HauntedShelf book recommendation for “Morally Dubious”. Quite honestly, almost everyone in this book is a horrible person with questionable actions.

Revenge is a dish best served cold. 4 women are invited to an all expenses paid hen party on a private Bahamian island by the girl they bullied in high school. Sure, what could go wrong in that scenario? This was a bit over the top, and the women were all still terrible, even 10 years after high school, but I thought this was a decent revenge thriller. Lots of trigger warnings though!

No character in this book behaves like a rational human being at any point, and most of the "reveals" feel pretty obvious, but those things didn't stop me from plowing through this silly, deliciously trashy revenge thriller about a group of women getting a violent comeuppance from the person they relentlessly bullied at school. Kind of brought me back to my RL Stine Fear Street/Christopher Pike teen horror days, and ngl, it was pretty fun.

I'm behind on my BOTM reads, but hoping to get to this one soon.

This book was a bit slow in spots but it‘s basically revenge on Mean Girls. Some of it was predictable and I thought the book was just ok.
This one was okay. I thought it was predictable, but a pretty good revenge story in a lot of ways. The ultimate mean girls get their just desserts in this book. I think the author could have cut this down. It didn‘t need to be as long as it was and the characters were all super unlikable, so it was hard to really care too much about any of them. Interesting story with unreliable characters and some fun twists.
Started out slow, ended with a bang. Hated most of the characters, but they made great antagonists.

I was really on the fence with pick or so-so. I went with so-so because these characters were all horrible, I sometimes lost who I was following at points and just felt parts dragged. Four women are invited to a hen party on a remote island by a girl they bullied and haven‘t talked to in over ten years. Will all make up or will revenge be had? In all an ok read as long as you can handle CATTY women haha!
I have a list of complaints, but I did enjoy reading it.
Beyond unrealistic. How can 4 terrible people remain terrible, oblivious and superficial enough for 20 years to, first of all, GO TO THIS EVENT and second of all, to not realize…well, you‘ll have to read it…
And a pet peeve of mine in writing is when diaries, emails, etc are not written as they would be. (Dialog with quotes in a diary?)
Started out slow. Terrible people who did terrible things and then had trouble things done to them, which wasn't as satisfying as expected. Mostly I hate read/skimmed because I wanted to know the ending but really didn't care what was happening along the way. I guessed the twist long before it happened.
A young girl who only wants to make friends & be loved. When her BFF walks away from her to be part of a 4-girl MEAN GIRL clique she keeps trying to be their friend & CONTINUOUSLY is humiliated, hurt & bullied all thru school to college. 10 years later mean girls are invited to a destination hen party by Poppy the previously bullied girl. I saw early what was going on but it‘s a great revenge tale & the twist ending was delicious.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
PSA: If you spend 7 years prior to your A-levels in a 4-strong mean girl group relentlessly bullying a fellow student until she fails at her own goals, then 10 years later the four of you are surprisingly invited to an all-expense-paid private Bahama island hen party for said victim - don‘t go. Better yet, go. Just go. ↓
@Born.A.Reader Thank you very much for the lovely package. It was so kind of you 🍁🎃🍂

I must be in my villain era because I ate this UP. A group of women are invited to a hen party on a private island by someone they bullied in high school. What could go wrong? Yes, all of these women are terrible. Lies, secrets, and betrayals abound. Compulsively readable, I barely put this down. You will hate everyone in this book. You‘ll have fun doing it. And you won‘t regret it one bit cause they had it comin.‘ (listen to reputation after)5⭐️
I thought a summer revenge thriller set on a private island would be more fun…. But the fast pace was probably the only redeeming quality here for me. Told in multiple perspectives, these shallow women with their heavy-handed secrets make for an overly unlikable bunch. While that‘s largely the point, the easily predictable plot that managed to have logistical holes galore just didn‘t do it for me. Usually I enjoy #BOTM‘s picks, but not this one!
Misty, thank you! Not only was I the recipient of your end-of-summer book give away (a book which happened to already be on my virtual TBR) but a baggie full of bookish fun, as well! I can‘t wait to wear the earrings to next month‘s IRL bookclub. I‘m planning the next 2 months to be filled with thrills, chills, mystery, and fantasy so this book fits right in with the plan. @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Absolutely loved this book. Kept waiting for the plot twists and they were great.
What a thrilling ride and an extremely satisfying ending.
So. Many. Secrets.
I really enjoyed this book! It was twisty and suspenseful, and I didn't see the final twist coming at the end. I had a few ideas of how it could've ended differently, but overall, it was super satisfying. I listened to this one on Audible, and it was worth the credit. Basically, Poppy was bullied by 4 girls, 1 of them being her ex-bff, and 10 years later, she invited them all to her hen party on a private Caribbean Island. What could go wrong?
"Hello everyone" she says. Even her voice has changed. Before she always had a slight tremble, a giveaway of how nervous she was. Now it's deep and controlled. " I'm so happy to see you all "
Yeah, no. This is pretty bad even for a debut. It‘s kind of boring and extremely predictable. The main characters are a bunch of sociopathic losers who wouldn‘t know what accountability means if their lives depends on it and in this case, it does. I love unlikeable characters but damn! The only good thing about this book is Poppy‘s diary entries. They‘re so raw. Even though I was never bullied they made me extremely emotional! ⭐️

I love it when my outfit matches my book. I almost dnf‘d this book so many times, so I am being generous with the so so rating. The twist was predictable, but it definitely made me feel the rage the main character felt. It is full of trigger warnings, self harm and mean girl bullying are the lightest triggers. The structure of the novel needs better editing. To many perspectives and not enough distinct voices so it was very confusing.
Loved it! Great summer read for a pseudo-whodunnit(that‘s actually kind of obvious) but if you love to see a plan come together: you definitely should read this!
⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book moved super fast and is packed with catty, horrible women. It's not a twisty mind-bending thriller, but reads like a reality show with murder. I liked it. It was a good in between book to cleanse the palate. Quick and easy. #botm
5/5 ⭐
This story is about four best friends bullying Poppy while they were in school. Now, ten years later, all of them receive an invitation for a bridal shower all expenses paid, by Poppy. If you think this sounds suspicious, you are right!
⭐️⭐️💫
This would be an okay beach read if you just want something entertaining. I couldn‘t stop turning the pages, but was ultimately disappointed. It‘s told from multiple points of view, but without distinctive voices, so the superficial and unlikeable women blend together. The payoff wasn‘t as strong or unpredictable as I had hoped - I saw most of the twists from a mile away. #BOTM
