I only read 9 out of the 58 books longlisted for the #ToB24. Of those Birnam Wood is my favorite, followed by All the Sinners Bleed and The Birthday Party. I was disappointed by Study for Obedience and Land of Milk and Honey.

Now I want to read as many as I can from the longlist until the shortlist will be announced in a few weeks. Suggestions of must-read books are very welcome!

Ruthiella I‘ve only read three! 😅 But I will probably read Rouge by the end of the year. Otherwise, I think I‘ll wait for the shortlist this year. Too many other books in the queue at the moment. 1y
BarbaraBB @Ruthiella That‘s probably wise! I ordered a few from the longlist but I am pretty sure they won‘t make it to the shortlist since I wanted to read them anyway and they aren‘t obscure at all! 1y
squirrelbrain I read 15 (thought it was 14 but then realised I‘d missed one!). I‘d recommend Hello Beautiful (but you‘ve already ordered that one!) and I‘ve just finished Wellness, although that‘s not out here until Jan. Ive read mostly the same as you, other than the Cosby and Birthday Party, both of which I own. 1y

Flaneurette I‘ve only read 2! But I‘m working on Wellness and I‘ve got a bunch on my kindle ready to go! 1y
sarahbarnes I‘ll recommend Biography of X and What You Are Looking For…! 1y
BarbaraBB Thanks @sarahbarnes they are now both on my to read list! 1y
Suet624 I really liked Hello Beautiful. 1y
Hooked_on_books Let Us Descend is absolutely phenomenal, though dark and painful, too. 1y
BarbaraBB @Hooked_on_books Thanks! I expect that one will make the shortlist! 1y
BarbaraBB @Flaneurette I am looking forward to Wellness! 1y
BarbaraBB @Suet624 Just purchased a copy ‘cause of you say so 😀 1y
Suet624 The pressure! I hope you like it! 1y

Our stats wizard Helen kept track of all your votes for the #CampLitsy longlist.

We thought that upon leaving camp we‘d surprise you with a goody bag containing the 8 titles that followed the six we read. We know now that we Littens have excellent taste so they are probably wordt reading too, if you haven‘t already.

If you have, recommendations are very welcome.

That‘s it. We‘re breaking up Camp for now!

TrishB Thanks 👍🏻 have taken a screenshot. 3y
squirrelbrain I‘ve read 4 already, thanks to having the long list spreadsheet to hand! 🤣 In particular I think Sea of Tranquility would have been an interesting comparison to How High, which would have led to some fascinating discussions. 3y
Ruthiella Thanks so much! I already have a copy of Flamingo and am definitely going to keep reading the longlist books that have the most appeal. 🙏 (edited) 3y
jlhammar The Swimmers is among my favorites this year. Love Otsuka! Also enjoyed Sea of Tranquility. I‘m interested in Flamingo. The US release is currently set for Nov 15. 3y
Megabooks So glad you shared this, Barbara! I have read 6/8 and am also eagerly awaiting Flamingo @jlhammar ! The US release has been pushed back several times, but it‘s been on my radar since it was on the longlist for the Women‘s Prize. Of course I loved the Mandel but I also enjoyed Trust and the Kawakami! I still haven‘t checked out Free Love. I told Barbara and @squirrelbrain that my favorite from the longlist that was new to me was actually 3y
Soubhiville Thanks for sharing! I‘m going to make sure these are all on my TBR now 😁📚 3y
Chelsea.Poole Ooh nice! Thanks!! 3y
Cinfhen Thanks for sharing!!! Im already signing up for next year!!!! It‘s been great fun and im so glad with the winner @squirrelbrain @Megabooks @BarbaraBB you guys made a fabulous team 🙌🏻📚💕 3y
batsy Very cool! Thanks for sharing 💜 3y
Deblovestoread Thanks for this! @Megabooks I loved The Midcoast! 3y
KarenUK Thanks for this! Read 3, loved all 3!(sea of tranquility, swimmers, Olga) Have all the rest on my TBR! Thanks again for a great summer of reading! 3y
BarbaraBB I have read and enjoyed Swimmers, Sea and All the Lovers. I will read Trust for the Booker longlist and also still want to read Mothers, Flamingo and Free Love. Olga somehow doesn‘t appeal 🤷🏻‍♀️ 3y

The #InternationalBooker longlist has been announced and I haven‘t read one book of it…. Any suggestions where to start?!

merelybookish Gosh that's an intimidating stack! 😮 3y
sarahbarnes Wow! I have started The Books of Jacob, but otherwise haven‘t read any of these. Looks like some really intriguing reads in here - I‘ll definitely be adding some of them to my list! 3y
sarahbarnes I‘ve been wanting to read Heaven for awhile. 3y

sarahbarnes This is totally random, but I met David Grossman‘s translator at a party once so it‘s always fun to see her name when he comes out with a new book. 🤓 3y
vlwelser Heaven is really good. The Books of Jacob is going on my list. Thank you for sharing! 3y
squirrelbrain Those bottom two look huge! 3y
batsy This is such an intriguing longlist! 3y
batsy (I follow Daisy Rockwell on IG and twitter because I love her art and have another book she translated, The Women's Courtyard, on my TBR, so The Tomb of Sand is high on my list!) 3y
Simona Yes, The Books of Jacob! 😘 (edited) 3y
BarbaraBB @Simona I ordered it. I can‘t wait any longer! 😘 3y
Simona It is exhausting, but goooood😁 3y
BarbaraBB @Simona I bought six more 🤦🏻‍♀️😍 3y
Simona Supporting bookstores can be good cause😘 3y
Megabooks Heaven was good but I didn‘t like it as much as Breasts and Eggs (but I loved B&E). 3y
BarbaraBB @Megabooks I didn‘t love B&E that much but still I think I can‘t go wrong with another Kawakami! 3y
AnneCecilie I‘m going to start with the ones my library has, Heaven and the Grossman one. They probably have Fosse too, but that‘s the third book in a trilogy and I want to read in the right order. Both Jen Campbell and Eric Carl Anderson have been raving about Elena Knows and Anderson has also raved about Love in the Big City so I might buy those two. 3y
BarbaraBB @AnneCecilie Thanks! I became a bit out of control and was able to buy six of them for reasonable prices (three of them translated). Most of them are the ones you mention! 3y
AnneCecilie I try to check my library first before buying books I‘m not sure about. And when they make it to longlists the library will usually get in some of them afterwards. 3y
BarbaraBB @AnneCecilie You are right of course. I lost it a bit and ordered them impulsively when I couldn‘t sleep last night 😉 3y
vivastory I am enormously pleased with the list this year!! I have heard a ton of praise for both Cursed Bunny & Elena Knows. 3y
BarbaraBB I am looking forward to Elena Knows as well. And Love in the Big City. And I think I can no longer avoid the Tokarczuk… 😉 @vivastory 3y
vivastory I will definitely be tackling the Tokarczuk at some point over the next few months. I will most likely read most of this list by some point. 3y
BarbaraBB @vivastory Me too, I am very pleased with it! 3y
