Sort of historical fiction? Based on true events but entirely fictional characters. Overall a pick, only very tiny silly things annoyed me (you do not just boat home from an island off Connecticut to Provincetown MA in a couple of hours! You just don‘t!! And one convo really didn‘t “sound” right - like, why would she respond with “why?” at a particular admission, blahblahblah) - overall SOLID. I will read more by this author. #oct2025 Book89
“I can‘t bring you back to life, Hannah,” he said. “You can choose to live again, or not. But I can make you remember what it was like to be alive.“
Oo la la ❤️ Reading while football 🏈 on TV 📺
Raise your hand 🙋🏻♀️ if you are a fan of Ballerini!! How and why this book title came first to mind when I checked my Audible credits, I may never know but seeing who narrates? SOLD! And then I see Ann Patchett blurbs it. 👏 👏 👏
At the library picking up books… #sigh #AbundanceofRiches #toomanybooksnotenoughtime

(Love it when the blurbs on the back of a book feature some of my favorite authors ✅
#Sep2025 Review! Favorite is West With Giraffes! Ten books for the month, 1 poetry, 1 book fulfills requirements to complete TWO reading challenges, 4 nonfiction, 2 stories (perhaps 3) based on true events, 2 by foodie authors, 2 children‘s books, 5 mention pie; only 13 books to read to reach my 💯 books by year end! Happy October Dear Friends 🌟
Apparently, one benefit of joining the Kansas City Public Library is this “Lucky Day” feature. I am not one to read “popular” books very often (the ones churned out by authors whose names appear on book covers in bigger font than the title 🙄) but perusing through the offerings, I found a Martha Wells! Squeeeeeeeeeeee
Look what my library just done did! Gave me notice of a whole slew of titles now available on Libby!!!! VERY exciting 🎉 Happy (?!) Banned Books Week! #LibrariesMatter
I bought this for myself in a fit of “the world is a dumpster fire I need some joy please” 🥧
Book club book even tho I can‘t make it to the meeting in October.
Copper was willing to nap 💤 next to this one. #DogsofLitsy
This is both simple and complex: mindfulness is everything.
Copper, however, is having none of it. #DogsofLitsy

A penpal told me this is SO GOOD! And since I just finished my audiobook and have a credit to burn 🔥, let‘s go! Timing is everything. 🎧📚📝
Yep, I cried. 🥲 I thought this was almost too intense at times! I was so concerned for “the darlings” even as I KNEW that they would make it all the way cross country on treacherous roads from NYC to San Diego. This one touched my heart good. Now I need to go see giraffes!🦒

Am motivated to get all my affairs in order as well as know what really needs to happen when. My niece is going through this situation and it astonishes me how one assumes things but have no idea of the logistics. For example, a company that offers 2 times salary life insurance… how and when is that distributed, does it get considered into probate, etc etc. I think I will purchase this - does anyone know of a more recent guidebook?
Picked up from the library today! (And can I also say how heartwarming it was to see so many kids at the library when it is a rather pretty day in September with SO many choices for a Saturday.)
Big THX to @Nutmegnc for the tiny book / rec. I have more poetry to read after looking up the authors mentioned 💖
I had to go to two libraries for my pickups since I frequent both and can never know which hold comes up when 🤷🏻♀️ 😂

1. Thich Nhat Hanh; I am making progress on this book.
2. My new Princess Flower plant.
3. Hub fixed & painted chairs for my lil round table.
4. Double rainbows
5. Fountain pens make writing all my penpals even more joyful.
Just a lil sip of prosecco as I update all my book sites with latest reads… #audiobook 🦒🦒🦒
Wow! This book starts with a bang 💥

Copper agrees to pose with a book! He‘s been demanding today, guess he is excited for Football 🏈 Sunday? This book had a few good moments and some head-scratchers. Perhaps I need to actually be familiar with Frost‘s poetry and philosophy.

Thank you @Nutmegnc for the adorable tiny book replicas! I have added these two titles to me tbr-soon list 🤩
I tried to create this image to show how tiny these are! She also sent me 2 others for books I‘ve read and I am going to send on to my friend Amy, (hope Megan won‘t mind!)
I just love Rachel Joyce. Her books entertain and make me feel all the feels and inspire me to be uniquely me while cheering for all of humanity. 📣🎉 #Sep2025 Book80 #listenREAD #LitPie #PieinLit #iLovePie #MincePie #MeatPie #PalmTree 🌴 🪲 🥧 #iFoundaPalmTreeFree2MeOntheCurbandtookithome

“It occurred to Margery that she didn‘t just dislike the man, she loathed him.”
(Funny thing about voice to text is that there is no way it can capture how to hear the word “loathed”. 🤷🏻♀️) #greatword
I burned an Audible credit on this before seeing the tradeback edition on my shelf! Darn, #ohwell. Guess I should be grateful for a read+listen opportunity! 🌟 I adore Rachel Joyce so ALL GOOD. ✅ I also might be able to count for a reading challenge category “alliteration”. Yes? Can two Bs make alliteration? 🗳️
#BookClub for Tuesday, overall I enjoyed - if such a horrific story can be “enjoyable” 😳 - learning this was inspired by real people and true experiences. A few chapters felt clumsy but overall, I appreciate the renewed attention that historical fiction brings to “this really happened!” And why oh why do we not learn?! Caroline is inspiring with her dogged determination to do what she can for good in the world. #Sep2025 Book79 (Pic from May)

I have been looking forward to making this list ALL day! we are just back from a trip to Alaska:
1) Glaciers - apparently the blue of a glacier is best seen in August? 🤷🏻♀️
2) Baseball! ⚾️ went to a game yesterday and weather was perfect (home now but still on vacay)
3) Basil for pesto
4) Friend sent me poem book!
5) Another friend just texted that her knee surgery went well and another friend is recovering from donating ⬇️
As far away from Paris I could possibly be! From the wilds of Alaska, to the start of this book: NYC to Paris 🌟
Reading this because a friend JUST rec‘d it and Libby had it available. So far, extremely readable for a plane ✈️ ride home.
August ends and I am in Alaska! Persuasion was my favorite, ME by Elton extremely interesting & enjoyable, Helen of Troy highly recommended for next poetry collection. Happy September Everyone 🤗
Low pick; the narrator Greg was almost insufferable but I was definitely Team Earl! Read for the Banned Book category of #AsheCoNCReadingChallenge #Aug2023 Book77
This is the last book! In my quest to complete the 50 category Ashe County North Carolina Library Reading Challenge, I commit to this on a vacation starting right now.
LOVED it! Thank you @AvidReader25 for #BuddyRead -ing this with me. #Persuasion2025
The narration by Greta Scacchi is excellent, must be said.
#Aug2025 Book76
My library bookstore of donated books offered this treat for my next poetry #poemaday project. Feels very 🍂 autumnal, too; don‘t ya think?
THIS COLLECTION is awesome. #AsheCoNCReadingChallenge category13 Myth Retelling
Copper is a bit unsettled to pose for a photo 😊 We are watching the game: GAGH FEAR CAT ??? (trying to catch the Celtic phrase at the stadium for KSU-ISU Farmageddon 🏈 in Ireland)
Book club tonight; unfortunately the book was available from the library TODAY. Going to try and read it fast. #bookjuggler
Fun note: we selected Tilt for next time!!! Squeeee
@AvidReader25 - Two things:
1) I ❤️ the word thither!!
2) Is the letter from Mrs. Croft in the book I sent?!🤩
And, the second paragraph is beyond confusing. Two cousins (who?!), Miss Elliot (Elizabeth or Anne?), then “she, Anne & Clay” so the SHE must be Elizabeth here?!?!?!?
Reading this for a banned book category and it is not going to be fun read from the 20 pages I‘ve read. But it‘ll count and I will power through AND defend anyone‘s rights to find it in their library. #BannedBook #AsheCoNCReadingChallenge
📸 Pear 🍐 Pie 🥧
“… Letty did not fancy herself in the role of gooseberry.”
Love finding new-to-me idioms. Who is it that shares “things that scratch my brain”? 😊
#Aug2025 Book73 #AsheCoNCReading Challenge category season
📸 View of the beer steins from lunch other day.
“She saw that there had been bad habits; that Sunday-traveling had been a common thing;”
Tsk,tsk (This cousin Elliot is not to be trusted.)
#SundayFunday
I need a book with a season in the title to satisfy one of the last 2 (out of 50!) categories of the #AsheCoNCReadingChallenge. I grabbed the Blume from the library‘s used books store and checked out the Pym from the shelves so it is due to be returned.
I should read both, yes? I feel like I have too many books going at once! Good problems to have, I guess.
Check in day for #Persuasian2025 @AvidReader25
… a few questions:
Did the nephew/Elliot automatically inherit his wife‘s riches upon her death?
I am confused who Colonel Wallis is??
Why the sandy-hair comments?!
Is Mrs Clay a widow? I forget why she is groupie to Elizabeth. And does dad like her or not? Seems he does but a convoluted sentence somewhere says he doesn‘t or does Anne wish he didn‘t?
Am I correct in thinking Sir Walter is … a cad?
Jay is an artist; lives his life as one (many?) experience-immersed art project/s. When Covid hits, he is in NYC just barely surviving when he delivers groceries to a wealthy enclave — he comes face 2 face with his lover Alice from 20+ years past who had run off with his best friend. I liked it mostly for amazing sentences but the drug use was extremely off-putting to me. Lots of interesting thoughts on “what IS art?” 🖼️ Low pick #Aug2025 #ToF

Austen is phenomenal. Such wit, such human understanding. I am enjoying this book a lot. #Persuasion2025
➡️ Husband was not on same page as wife: “You talk nonsense!”
This chapter took me on a few minutes discovery of differences between rectors and vicars and curates OH MY ⛪️ 🕊️💰
My heart hurts. I enjoy following John Green on his nonfiction journeys. I agree with him as he recommends the Paul Farmer/PIH book Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder.
#Aug2025 Book70
Do we need to crowdfund some freakin‘ antibiotic research?! We have some scientists who need some funding. I am not happy with the latest news out of our fed DoH and the lunatic in charge.
I have to finish this book- Libby expires tomorrow; I fear I won‘t be able to sleep if I cram last 70 pages.
I do NOT need longer eyelashes!!!! (I am actually pleased that there is no eyelash emoji! Or am I too out-of-it to know what word to search? 🥴)
