Finished my second #trappedonanisland read. This one was pretty good. I liked learning more of Ronan‘s background and family story. These are still good on audio and can‘t wait to pick up the next book.

Enjoying some reading time outside (finally) before it gets buggy out!
Just started this one today.
All the stars!! I loved this book! It was just as good as the first book. I don‘t want to say I loved it more but it‘s close! I loved that we got more of the world building and a deeper dive into some of the characters. The cover does freak me out a bit though. It makes sense, but I don‘t love it.
#BookSpin
I really enjoyed this historical romance novel. I don‘t always love when they‘re wearing wigs and hair paint and stuff like that but this one wasn‘t too bad.
I‘m really interested in what the other character stories are.
I liked the 2 main characters and the story itself. I‘m glad it didn‘t really have any whacky twists. It was just a fun read.
#Trappedonanisland
Thanks for the tag @Eggs !
🌸 I try to. There are some days I don‘t, but I always feel off on those rare days I don‘t read anything.
🌼 I don‘t watch new tv shows really. At night after work I‘m usually reading. During the day I listen to audiobooks when I‘m walking/exercising, cleaning or even working.
🌺 Depends on my mood, but usually fantasy or fantasy romance. Sometimes mystery.
#wondrouswednesday
This is almost a pan. This book made me so uncomfortable because I don‘t understand how people didn‘t understand Molly was neurodivergent/on the autism spectrum. They were clearly taking advantage of her. Also, the police got so frustrated with her because she was so literal.
I sped this up to 2.15x speed to get through it. (I need 3 debuts for #BOTM)
Also, I don‘t understand how Molly was so clueless but then was so devious.. just, nope.
This was a low pick. I was a bit confused on some things through this whole book. I picked this up for a hope punk novel for #booked2022
Kenna is super poor and starving. He stumbles upon an advertisement to eat at a super exclusive restaurant. He‘s never tasted good that wasn‘t processed. He finds a whole world where he finally fits in. His journey is very long but also only the course of a month.
Here are the books I‘ve chosen for @Clwojick for the month of August for #trappedonanisland
I hope you find a book or 2 you love!
I really enjoyed this book. I liked the world set up and the characters. I definitely plan to continue this series and see what else Kingfisher has to offer!
Stephen has lost his god and has had nothing to live for for 3 years. His group was taken in by the Temple of the Rats. Grace makes/sells perfumes and is accused of poisoning and thrown in jail. This book has a lot going on in the world and there is a bigger mystery going on as well.
I picked this up for my work book club and we are meeting Tuesday to discuss.
Overall, I liked this book but I wasn‘t expecting it to basically be a biography of her and her family. I was expecting to get more help in how to be more ambitious and help planning for your future career and goals.
Basically she went through her journey (which sounded exhausting) and then the last chapter was going over simple ways to plan depending on your goals.
Eek!
Lisa Jewell is coming to my local bookstore!
Now to see if I can find a friend to go with me because I‘ve never been to an author event before!
The pup is sick, so I set up an air mattress in the basement so I can keep an eye on him at night. He‘s not allowed in our bedroom or bed, so this is the best way to keep an eye on him.
Really enjoying this book. It‘s one of my first T. Kingfisher books.
I don‘t know if I‘ve tried to read this before or just looked it up, but the beginning was familiar to me.
I really liked this one and plan to continue the series. I really liked Blue and all the “raven boys”.
I picked this up because it came up on a list for #foundfamily and I needed it for #pop22
Hmm so I had no idea this was a psychological thriller or really what this book was about. I picked it up for #pop22 - about a secret
I think it still can be used for the prompt. 🤷🏻♀️
I didn‘t like anyone in this book. They were all awful. I knew one of the “twists”, but the others surprised me. Needless to say, I have mixed feelings on this book.
Was there actually a story here? I‘m pretty sure it was Frankie and Jay meeting. Him saying once he‘s not a relationship guy, then them saying screw it, let‘s have a relationship. There was a bit of a story about Frankie‘s podcast and they go to 1 event together. Otherwise, it‘s them having sex 95% of the time. I picked this up for #pop22 - protagonist uses mobility aid
This was a romance out of my wheelhouse but only 5hr audio.
#JubilantJuly
I picked this one up for #NoShameReadathon - Slasher horror pick
I‘m not a horror person, I‘m such a wimp and I‘m definitely not a slasher film person! So I was definitely hesitant. Definitely a bit gruesome at the end.
However, I really liked this book and couldn‘t put it down. It was also a super quick read.
#JubilantJuly
This was a reread for me. I started reading the sequel, but I couldn‘t remember what happened.
Decided to quickly register to this, so I can read Fevered Star.
Just as good as the first time I read it.
#JubilantJuly
I flew through this one! It was such a fun, quick read. It‘s definitely a rom-com, but also has some heartbreak and sad things. I laughed a few times.
This book was so fun and a perfect summer read! Though it‘s way too hot to enjoy my new deck furniture. Currently experiencing a heat wave.
I‘ve lost count of books read for #JubilantJuly
Hey Chrissy and Sarah! I found this book today and I‘m pretty sure we were trying to do a mark up read outside of LMPBC. It looks like I got 50 pages into this book (and if I remember correctly, found it super depressing).
Do you want me to send this back to you Chrissy? Or should I send it along to Sarah. Sorry for the delay, I literally don‘t know how long I‘ve had this book. 🤦♀️🤦♀️
I loved this book! I remember hearing about it on a podcast, I just don‘t remember which one.
Britta wants to be a writer and she starts writing a blog/social media about signing up for a fitness app that doesn‘t focus on weight loss, just getting healthier. She meets Wes, her trainer, who is also the CEO of the company. There was a lot happening in this book and I loved it.
#trappedonanisland - Book 2 read
#JubilantJuly - Book 4 read
I loved this book so much! I don‘t even know what to say. I just want to go play video games now and play all my old Super Nintendo favorites.
#booked2022 - title repeats itself
#doublespin - #BOTM
#JubilantJuly - Book 3 finished
Finished this one on Sunday.
It was a lovely story. A book about the afterlife, life and death, dealing with grief and love. This book made me want to drink a big cup of tea.
#pop22 - about the afterlife
#JubilantJuly - Book 2 finished
I really loved this book! Tavi‘s crew gets hired to catch a thief and recover what they stole. She gets hired by people they were at war with for 10 years but are currently at peace with.
They head across space to the enemy territory and her crew gets to know and become friendly with their “enemies”.
This is a sci-fi romance. It‘s a bit steamy and I loved it.
#swordandlaserpodcast #swordandlaser
#JubilantJuly - Book 1 finished Saturday
Took me a bit to figure it out but here are my goals for #JubilantJuly
Finish the 3 books on the right and start the other 2 books. One on audio and 1 in print.
Don‘t know how much I‘ll get done this weekend because we are camping with other people, but we‘ll see.
This book was just lovely and sad. When it got to a certain part it was just heartbreaking.
My books have had an unintentional 90s theme lately. I couldn‘t put this book down at a certain point and had to keep reading. I‘ve only read a few Emma Straub books but I‘m glad I picked this one up.
I don‘t know if I‘ve ever read a contemporary book that was sci-fi for 1 person.
#CampLitsy
Awh this was such a sweet story. I loved it! The graphics could have been a little bit richer. There just wasn‘t much to look at. But I loved the story.
I can‘t wait to pick up the other volumes and I might actually watch the Netflix show if they stuck close to this story.
#pop22 - adapted in 2022
#booked2022 - adapted for the small screen
#SorryNotSorry
Too many books and not enough time to read a book that isn‘t engaging me. 🤷🏻♀️Just have no interest in picking this book back up.
Sorry #CampLitsy, looks like I won‘t be reading Either/Or in August.
I really enjoyed this book. The sexism was infuriating. Crazy how they feel it‘s okay to treat women.
I don‘t know if this book was laugh out loud funny, but I did like this book and would recommend it. I didn‘t mind all the science talk either.
The audio was really great as well.
I‘m using this for my #decadesreadingchallenge - set in 1960s
Really enjoyed this second novel in the Maggie Hope series. She ends up working in Windsor Castle as a tutor for Princess Elizabeth.
There are spies, mystery, intrigue, codes and code breaking. Set during WWII.
I definitely plan to continue this series! I love Maggie.
This was a low pick for me. I‘m kind of over thrillers, but decided to give this one a try.
Cecily is given the opportunity of a lifetime, climb a mountain over 8,000 meters with a team. If she summits, she gets an interview that will help her journalism career. But there is a killer on the mountain. I wasn‘t expecting who the killer was and the twists were good.
#Booked2022 - about an expedition
#NoShameReadathon - thriller
How am I just responding to letters I received in June (of 2021)!!
I am so sorry friends! I‘m responding to a bunch of different letters I received last year!
I just opened up 3 letters I received in March 🤦♀️
Hopefully I can keep the momentum going because I have 6 more I have to respond to!
#LitsyLove
I wasn‘t sure what this book was about when I first started it. So it took me a bit to get into it. It‘s an Edwardian England and a magical world. People don‘t know about magic or that there are magicians. Robin gets cursed and he teams up with Eddie to figure out why and what happened to his missing predecessor. It‘s also a M/M romance that is pretty steamy! There is conspiracies, mysteries and danger!
#getTBR - one of my recs this quarter
Finished my first #trappedonanisland book!
This was my first Christina Lauren book and I really enjoyed it. Having just been to Hawaii, there were a few things that stuck out to me. No way they weren‘t jet lagged going there and I don‘t think they ever put on sunscreen 🤣.
Other than that this book already made me miss Hawaii and I want to go back to Maui. I really liked Olive and Ethan and it really pisses me off when no one believes women.
Thanks for the tag @EadieB !
1. So-So. I‘m behind on my GR challenge to read 200 books. I‘m only at 95, so I‘m 6 books behind. I‘m completely slacking on #ShelfofShame, doing good at #pop22 and doing okay at #NoShameReadathon and okay at #Booked2022
2. The #ShelfofShame is to read books I already own. Supposed to read 12, haven‘t read 1 😬. But I have been reading my own books not on that list.
#Two4Tuesday
It looks like so far I‘ve completed 24/40 #pop22 prompts. I‘m not sure if I‘m going for the Advanced or not, we‘ll see.
I‘m struggling to find books that I think I‘ll like for some prompts, like becoming tv/movie in 2022 and about a musical group or band.
I am so bored. Does this get better? Does something happen? I‘m 100 pages in and I have no idea how I‘m going to go 300 more pages and read the sequel for #CampLitsy
I was interested in the story at first and read through it pretty quickly, but it‘s just so slow or something. I don‘t read a lot of character driven novels, I need action. 🤷🏻♀️
So I wasn‘t sure to expect this book when I started it. I heard it was a romance but there is also so much grief in this book. This book made me feel uncomfortable but I also just couldn‘t put it down. I feel like this is a deeper romance than I normally read and a lot more complicated. Not going to say much more before the #CampLitsy discussion.
Just realized I never posted my July #Bookspin and #DoubleSpin books.
A romance and any BOTM book not currently on my list!
I love reading Simone St James‘ books in the summer. This one had a lot going on. I got so creeped out at one point, I had to put the book down and take a break. I really liked this story and the way it unraveled. I didn‘t really know much about this book before reading it, so I don‘t want to say too much.
Here are the 5 #trappedonanisland books I picked for @thereadingpal
Hope you find something you like to read!
I originally picked up this this book because of #BOTM. I had never heard of it before I picked it. There are only so many books I can read, so I decided to try it on audio. Loved it! Loved the accents and the different voices for everyone.
Jack comes back to his home island after being gone for 10 years. Someone has been snatching their girls. He helps to solve the mystery and a lot of other things I don‘t want to spoil. This is a light fantasy
My favorite read of June was the tagged book! I read some decent books this month, but this was the only one I have 5 stars to!
However, it doesn‘t quite beat Sea of Tranquility, because I‘m still thinking about that one.
As you can kind of see, my reading is all over the place and it‘s hard to compare some books!
This is a fictional book from the point of view of the staff working at Agatha Christie‘s home with her 2nd husband.
A stranger shows up and the next morning is found murdered. The housekeeper decides to solve the murder because she doesn‘t believe the police can.
This gives Agatha some “ideas” for her books.
It was a fun read. The story is complete fiction, just has Agatha and Max in it.
It‘s the first in a series. Next one comes out Oct.
