Here are the words you should be looking for while reading. This is a month long event. You get 10pts for every word you find.
Tip: if you read on kindle, I think you can just search for the word in your book. I‘ve never done it, but that‘s what I heard.

Finished this one earlier this week. This is the 5th book in the Sparks & Bainbridge series. This one has them solving another murder. Gwen is still dealing with the courts to be named a “sane” person. Iris is debating her relationship with Archie. This has more matchmaking and relationships as well.
Love this series!
Hey all! Welcome to the #MagicalMonsters! If you‘ve been tagged in this post, you are in my team for this years #scarathlon event.
There are 2 options for our buddy read. One is a witchy book and the other is a haunted house book.
We are halfway through September! Get those TBRs ready and tag me in your posts!

I got a free arc of this book from BookSirens.
So this book says it‘s second in a series but can be read as a stand alone. However, a lot of what happens in this book centers around a previous story that I would recommend reading first. I didn‘t read it first and felt a bit loss. I would have preferred to read to have the backstory.
Finally finished the 3rd book in the Julia Grey series and all I can say is finally!! Set in the Yorkshire moors, Julia follows Brisbane who has bought an old estate. The family who owned the estate still live there, so it‘s a bit odd. This book holds a lot of secrets and I don‘t want to spoil anything.
Really looking forward to picking up the next book!
Don‘t think I posted this yet! My September #bookspin and #doublespin picks!
Nice and easy this month. A library hold and an owned book!
Omg this book was just delightful!! I basically listened to it in a day. A body shows up in Vera‘s tea shop one day. And she‘s convinced it‘s murder. The cops don‘t. So she posts an obituary to see who shows up.
It turns into a found family story. You get multiple points of view from all the people who were affected by the dead person.
Would definitely recommend!
Here‘s my Halloween collage! Mostly of my favorite movies and some calming decorations.

Decided I wanted to reread this series. Though I don‘t know if I ever finished the whole series or read the last book.
However, I‘m not sure if I‘m going to be able to continue with this on audio. I absolutely hated Lissa‘s voice. It was so high pitched and childish, it was annoying.
I did enjoy the story and want to continue, so we‘ll see. I haven‘t read these books since probably 2011 or so…
I put #mytbr on hold for most of this year. I just started my membership back up because I‘ve been reading a lot of meh books. I‘m hoping some recs from Book Riot will help me out of it.
Have you read any of these books? They seem perfect for fall!
It‘s been a while since I‘ve read a historical fiction but it was just what I needed. I have been so stressed out and anxious that I need low key, not stressful books.
This is my first by this author, though I own a couple of her other books.
This one was pretty good. Cassandra‘s grandmother dies and she sets off on a journey to discover her grandmother‘s history. We visit Australia, London, and Cornwall.
Okay, I bailed on a lot of books in August and didn‘t love a lot of books. So this month was an easy pick!
It beat out The Seven Year Slip as well!!
#readingbracket23
It‘s been a while since I‘ve skipped. But I wasn‘t really feeling any of the picks this month. 🤷🏻♀️ #botm
This was a quick fun easy read.
Set in New Orleans, a dead body shows up outside of Ofelia‘s bar. She starts to investigate. The cop is dreamy that she works with. This is definitely a cozy mystery romance. Though the other death was a bit dark for a cozy.
This is a supernatural story. The bar is mostly for supernaturals unless you can find it (it‘s a speakeasy). Ofelia is a witch. The cop is secretive of what he is at first.
This is the 2nd book in the series. You probably want to read them in order because this character is introduced in it and the world. Her friends from the first book also show up a lot in this one.
Penny is a familiar without a witch. Her parents are familiars. I liked this book but it drove me nuts how much she complained they don‘t take care of her at 30 yrs old.
Will is a giant stick in the mud but starts to open up and relax more w Penny
Hi! I need help!
I accidentally borrowed a book on Libby that doesn‘t have a kindle version. I get arcs that are epub and I email them to my kindle and then the book is on my kindle.
I downloaded this as an epub but it didn‘t actually download as an epub. It said acsm file (or something like that). And it wouldn‘t go to my kindle.
Now what do I do?! Can I just not read this book now?
This was a fun novel. Didn‘t realize it was set in Australia at first (not that that matters).
The book starts off with death, has death in the middle and a few other places. The family dynamic was interesting and I like the way the story unraveled. The audio was really enjoyable too.
This wasn‘t a stressful mystery for me to read, so I really enjoyed this book.
Here is my #bookspin list for September. I‘m going to be on vacation the second half of September, so we‘ll see how much reading I actually get done!
I really loved this book and it was perfect for my current mood. Historical type romance with magic and fairytales. The audio also included a short story at the end.
This is set in London during a ball season, when everyone is trying to get their daughters married. Dora only has half a soul and has no emotions. She meets the Lord Sorcerer and his friend and starts feeling some things.
Already read the 2nd book in this series. I‘m really trying to save the rest for October, but they‘re so cozy to read. They‘re fun, they have magical characters, and a town that is always Halloween.
I felt like the first one had some steamy scenes, this one had zero (but they did have dirty thoughts).
I‘m so excited! I missed the Lisa Jewell and Ruth Ware events (because they were sold out). So I‘m excited I caught when they just posted this and tickets went out!
I didn‘t know Alix E Harrow had a book coming out, so yay!!
Not sure what is going on this month but I‘ve bailed on 6 books!!
The tagged - I was kind of just bored (nothing wrong with the book but wasn‘t in the mood for a straight romance, wanted more magic, there is none 🤣)
🐺Too gruesome
🧛🏼Too much sex, not enough story
🐙Just so weird and boring
🧙🏻♀️Did not care for the characters and was not interested in what I was reading, was literally skimming half the book
🧛♀️ posted about this one
We‘ve had the crappiest weather this summer, so I‘m not really ready for fall, but Yay Halloween swap!!

Not this books fault at all, but I am so sick of pandemic books. This one was on me because I just added it to my TBR because I really like this author.
I like the way this story unraveled and is told from 3 viewpoints. This pandemic is different and is called red eye. (Reminded me of doctor who).
This book is set during a snowstorm. And has a lot of death and violence in it.
Unfortunately I read 2 WWII novels back to back not realizing it. Tommy gets contacted to find some German spies in an English village. But Tuppence isn‘t allowed to know and she shows up there anyway. They then work together but apart because they can‘t let anyone know they know each other.
These aren‘t my favorite books. I like Poirot, Battle and Marple much more! But I do enjoy Hugh Fraser.
Finished this one last week. Maggie is still waiting for her sister to come to England from Germany. Sarah is getting ready for her first mission. There is a blackout killer copying Jack the Ripper and killing women working for the SOE. Maggie works with the police and MI5 to solve the murders and maybe finds another love interest.
#serieslove2023
Ugh… is this book worth finishing? I read the first part for #camplitsy2023 but I am struggling!
I‘m so bored and don‘t like anyone. Also, I‘m a bit confused about Neffy‘s boyfriend. And the stories are so boring. 🤷🏻♀️
This was just awful. I couldn‘t stand Kat. She was so annoying. Her views were so black and white. She was so innocent and her family was just awful. I had to look and see when this was published because of how backward their views were. No way I could last another 5 hours!
Honestly, I read @wanderinglynn ‘s review on goodreads and it gave me the strength to bail!
I have a friend reading with me this evening.
*Is still sitting on my knee as I post this.
This was a light, fun book. Set in a town where it is Halloween everyday. That way the vampires, werewolf‘s etc., can kind of be out in the open but still hidden to the normal people.
Delaney is running from the mob after seeing her boss kill someone. She ends up in Georgia after stealing someone‘s folder for a mail order bride system.
It‘s silly but it was a fun romance. I‘ll definitely continue this series. #serieslove2023
So I asked for recommendations based on my love of the Stay a Spell series. This one was recommended to me. Just because she is witchy. This one isn‘t as cozy as those books were.
Rachel quits her job and her boss puts a hit out on her. She has to try to not get killed while solving a mystery. She‘s a witch, lives with a vampire and pixies. There are demons and werewolves and all the creatures.
I‘ll probably continue with this series.
Finished the 2nd book in the Riley Jenson series. It‘s been a while since I‘ve read the first one, so I had to play a bit of catch up.
Riley wakes up in some weird facility. She escapes with a werehorse. She does a lot of guardian work even though she doesn‘t want to. Lots of sex, hot guys and going undercover.
I really enjoyed this book and can‘t wait to read the next one!
Finished this one about a week ago. This is the 5th book in the series and mostly follows V and a surgeon Jane. These books all have kind of weird endings for me. They‘re romance so they have a slight HEA, but a weird HEA.
Yay, photos!! I‘ve been avoiding litsy the last few days. Who wants to scroll through gray blobs?
Anyways, behind on reviews as always.
This is the 2nd book in the series. It follows Rose who was going to be head witch but stepped down and is now trying to find her thing. She gets in trouble and has to work community service at an animal sanctuary with a grumpy hot vet. It‘s a romance so you know what happens. 😊
Liked this one A LOT! So good
Decided to read some Charlaine Harris. This is the first book in the Midnight, Texas series. It was pretty interesting and I did not see that ending coming! I‘ll definitely be continuing the series.
I probably should have bailed when the rat crawled back up her throat. 🫣🤢
But this book is just way too gruesome. And has too much body horror for me.
I‘m not ready for summer to be over, but I love #scarathlon! Just signed up, you should to!
Time to start thinking of fall books to read!
I‘m at a farmers market type event (Providence Flea). One of the tents had blind book dates! So, of course I snagged one!
What do you think the book is? I have no idea! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 it‘s one I haven‘t read yet!
#botm picks came in!
Decided on the new Lisa Jewell because my bookstore event was sold out, so I wouldn‘t get an autographed copy.
And I liked The Hacienda and I‘m always down for more supernatural stories in Mexico.
#libraryhaul
Got a stack of books in from the library today! I‘m trying to read more books already on my TBR and not newer books I keep finding!
Read this for #BBRC - A little learning is a dangerous thing
7th graders write an essay to spend a night in the brand new library. They wake up and realize they‘re locked in the next morning and have to solve a bunch of puzzles and play games to make it out of the library.
It was pretty fun. I think the puzzles would have been better to see in print, so I could play along, but still a great read.
Decided to read some of Charliane Harris‘s books that aren‘t Sookie stackhouse.
This one is a western with magic. No one trusts the magic and the US is all broken up differently and I think Mexico took over Texas. Lizbeth crew dies so she takes up a job with Russian wizards to track done someone.
It was pretty interesting and I liked it. A lot of shooting and death though.
Here are my August #bookspin and #doublespin picks!
My bookspin is actually just a Black Dagger Brotherhood book, but this is where I‘m at next in the series.
