Great Poolside Read.
Helpful that there was a family tree at the beginning. While I didn't confuse the characters of granddaughters I had trouble remembering which one was named which.
Liked that it included map of Hotel as well. Addition of Emails, Newspaper Articles, Tweets and even the Hashtags told a the story.
#summerreading2021 😎
What a glorious morning! No place to be. Thanks to the rain, no water hoses to lug around. Just sitting and enjoying the morning with my current read 😊
A lighthearted, fun, summer read. I really enjoyed the break from more serious reads and books with tougher content. The Goldmans & Weingolds spend their last summer at their family hotel. Three generations of each family spent most summers of their lives at the hotel so it's a tough decision on whether or not to sell. Each of the family members have other important things going on in their lives & secrets from the past are also surfacing.
What a wonderful story of 2 families and their influence on a beloved region. Beautifully written, I felt like I was right there in the hotel the entire book. Book 44 in 2021

Enjoyable, although perhaps a little forgettable. I didn‘t feel that emotionally connected to the numerous characters and plot lines. It is a fun, light-hearted summer read and the audiobook was narrated well, but I just wanted a bit more. It‘s a soft pick for me! 🎧
This book made me nostalgic for things I've never experienced. But I'm of the Dirty Dancing generation so I FEEL like I experienced them! I loved the ensemble cast and their collective memories of the hotel as well as their current dramas. These two families were wonderful and the resolution of the central question, as well as the various dramas!, satisfied me. (Also I liked this 1000% better than The Floating Feldmans)

I love a novel that comes with an illustration of the main setting!
Yo Yo Ma plays the cello, not the violin… and they fixed this in the audiobook 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Embarking on an #ImmersionReading of this #BOTM book — should be just the thing for summer! 😎
Catskills problems. There‘s an art to weaving a meaningful story around a cast of characters and keeping it all - cast and story - engaging. I liked the plot well enough but I didn‘t connect with the three generations and two families owning the Golden Hotel. Darn, I must have been in a mood for another genre.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
This was such a fun book to read...loved it!!😀
Looking for a fun summer read with Dirty Dancing vibes? The Golden Hotel is the last Catskills resort in the once-popular Jewish enclave, and bookings are WAY down. A casino wants to buy the property, but 2 families, 11 people, and 3 generations have to want to sell. Of course amusing hijinks ensue as the families gather at the resort to decide. Definitely an enjoyable novel!
Thanks @Cinfhen for encouraging me to get this from #botm!

I expected to like this book, but I was surprised by how much I LOVED it! It is warm and funny with a heavy dose of nostalgia mixed in. The story is endearing while honoring a bygone era and still managing to nod to the future. Generation wars ensue, but the players eventually realize when they combine their values they can achieve the greatest outcomes. A perfect, fun summer read. ☀⛱
My pre-orders came in today. So excited for both of these.
This was delightful. A fun distraction from the chaos. When a casino conglomerate offers a large sum of money to buy a family owned hotel in the Catskills, three generations will need to come together to reach a decision about a place that was once the gem of the Borscht Belt but is now a money pit. Will sentimentality prevail or can a large cash buyout fix the many secrets that are simmering?? A perfect lighthearted family dramedy #NetGalley
I‘m LOVING this #ARC #NetGalley as someone who “summered” in the Catskills this book is bringing back all sorts of childhood memories 🥰 This works for #Booked2021 #JewishMCauthor and #Pop21 #ThreeGenerations It‘s also a big fun throwback to Dirty Dancing 💃🏾 🕺🏾🍉
Anybody have experience with pre-orders on Amazon? I ordered these two on May 1st. Both come out on May 18th, and both say if you preorder today they'll be delivered on the 18th. But my order of Last Summer says delivery on June 30. I haven't pre-ordered anything from Amazon in a really long time, so idk if this is normal or a glitch that will be corrected or what.
